In this study, active muffler was designed and was manufactured for exhaust noise reduction of commercial vehicle, then experiment of real vehicle was conducted. In a manufactured active muffler, because the flow of exhaust noise in tail pope outlet are become a plane wave, the global reduction if radiation noise from outlet and the placement of error microphone to avoid the exhaust gas of high temperature could be implemented. In control algorithm, reduction of noise of engine driving frequency and harmonic frequency can be archieved using proposed reference signal including a fixed speed state(2,000rpm, 3,000rpm, 4,000rpm) and a run-up speed state(2,000rpm$\rightarrow$4,000rpm) is accomplished with the active muffler installed in vehicle.
Being controlled by a pole placement, levitation system should need many sensors such as measure air-gap, velocity, acceleration, and so on. However, these sensors have observational errors by changed temperature. This paper proposed a output compensated command tracking controller for reducing the error and reducing sensors. Simulation results will be provided to show the validity of the proposed scheme.

This paper examines the efficiency of the application of conventional and insulated gang forms for curing and protection of concrete by comparing the amount of electric energy required therefor. In addition, a thermal vision camera was used to identify heat loss from surfaces of the gang forms after each placement of concrete. Experimental results, show that the heat loss at the submerged temperature was large at the submerged surface due to the large calorific value at the surface of the mold. The insulated gang form had some heat loss in the horizontal bars. In the case of adiabatic reforming, the pattern shows a constant calorific value over time. In conclusion, the insulation performance is better than that of general gang form.
The practice of asphalt pavement recycling has grown rapidly over the decade, one of which is the cold in-place recycling with the foamed asphalt (CIR-foam) or the emulsified asphalt (CIR-emulsion). Particularly, in Iowa, the CIR has been widely used in rehabilitating the rural highways because it significantly increases the service life of the existing pavement. The CIR layer is typically overlaid by the hot mix asphalt (HMA) to protect it from water ingress and traffic load and obtain the required pavement structure and texture. Most public agencies have different curing requirements based on the number of curing days or the maximum moisture contents for the CIR before placing the overlay. The main objective of this study is to develop a moisture loss index that the public agency can use to monitor the moisture content of CIR layers in preparation for a timely placement of the wearing surface. First, the moisture contents were measured in the field using a portable time domain reflectometry (TDR) device. Second, the weather information in terms of rain fall, air temperature, humidity and wind speed was collected from the same location. Finally, a moisture loss index was developed as a function of initial moisture content, air temperature, humidity and wind speed. The developed moisture loss index based on the field measurements would help the public agency to determine an optimum timing of an overlay placement without continually measuring moisture conditions in the field.
The purpose of this study was to compare the dye leakage of MTA (mineral trioxide aggregate) apical plug produced by two orthograde placement techniques (hand condensation technique and ultrasonically assisted hand condensation technique). To simulate straight canal, 60 transparent acrylic blocks with straight canal were fabricated. These transparent acrylic blocks were divided into 2 groups (Group C; hand condensation technique (HC) and Group U; ultrasonically assisted hand condensation technique (UAHC)) of 30 blocks with each MTA application method. Each group was divided into 2 subgroups (n=15) with different canal size of #70 (subgroup C70 and subgroup U70) and #120 (subgroup C120 and subgroup U120). After apical plug was created, a wet paper point was placed over the MTA plug and specimen was kept in a humid condition at room temperature to allow MTA to set. After 24 hours, remaining canal space was backfilled using Obtura II. All specimens were transferred to floral form socked by 0.2% rhodamine B solution and stored in 100% humidity at room temperature. After 48 hours, resin block specimens were washed and scanned using a scanner. The maximum length of micro leakage was measured from the scanned images of four surfaces of each resin block using Photoshop 6.0. Statistical analysis was performed with Mann-Whitney U test. Group U of UAHC had significantly lower leakage than Group C of HC in #70-size canal (subgroup U70) (p<0.05).
PURPOSES : The purpose of this study is to analyse the longitudinal steel strain and stress of continuously reinforced concrete pavement(CRCP) with longitudinal and transverse direction at early age using stress dependent strain analysis method. METHODS : To measure the longitudinal steel strain, 9-electrical resistance and self-temperature compensation gauges were installed to CRCP test section (thickness = 250mm, steel ratio = 0.7%) and continuously measured 10min. intervals during 30days. In order to properly analyze the steel stress first, temperature compensation process has been conducted. Secondly, measured steel strains were divided into stress dependent strain (elastic strain) and stress independent strain (thermal strain) and then stress dependent strain was applied to stress calculation of longitudinal steels. RESULTS : Steel strains were successfully measured during 30days. To verify the accuracy of temperature compensation process, measured coefficient of thermal expansion(COTE,$11.46{\times}10^{-6}m/m/^{\circ}C$) of longitudinal steel before paving was compared with that of unrestrained steel. Max. steel stress in the transverse direction shows about 266MPa at 23days after placement. CONCLUSIONS : Steel stresses in the longitudinal and transverse direction have been evaluated. In longitudinal direction, steel stress from the crack was rapidly reduced from 183MPa at crack to 18MPa from 600mm apart the crack. From this observation, stress effective length can be identified as within 600mm apart from the crack. In transverse direction, max. stress point was located near the center of pavement width and stress level(266MPa) is about 66% of yield stress of steel.
It is known that the long-term behavior and performance of jointed concrete pavement due to slab curling are affected by the environmental factors such as temperature, moisture, and so on. However, any relationships between the curling and its factors have not been defined clearly yet because of insufficient detailed investigation. The temperature, relative humidity, strain, vertical displacement of a concrete slab, and horizontal movement of its transverse joints were investigated by various sensors and devices instrumented in the slab of a concrete pavement section constructed for this study. The constraint of the curling by joint stiffness was investigated in addition to effect of the temperature and moisture on the early aged concrete slab by analyzing the field data measured for approximately 4days from concrete placement. The curling of the concrete slab showed 24hour cycles mainly because of the temperature effect, and the upward curling gradually increased because of the long-term effect of drying shrinkage of the concrete. The magnitude and variation of the curling were significantly affected by the joint stiffness which is comprised of aggregate interlocking and other factors. The effect of the variation of the seasonal joint stiffness varying with the temperature and long-term drying shrinkage on the slab curling will be investigated as a further study.

As cores in multi-core processors are integrated in a single chip, power density increased considerably, resulting in high temperature. For this reason, many research groups have focused on the techniques to solve thermal problems. In general, the approaches using mechanical cooling system or DTM(Dynamic Thermal Management) have been used to reduce the temperature in the microprocessors. However, existing approaches cannot solve thermal problems due to high cost and performance degradation. However, floorplan scheme does not require extra cooling cost and performance degradation. In this paper, we propose the diverse floorplan schemes in order to alleviate the thermal problem caused by the hottest unit in multi-core processors. Simulation results show that the peak temperature can be reduced efficiently when the hottest unit is located near to L2 cache. Compared to baseline floorplan, the peak temperature of core-central and core-edge are decreased by $8.04^{\circ}C$, $8.05^{\circ}C$ on average, respectively.
In this research, the early-age movements of joint at JPCP(Jointed Plain Concrete Pavement) were measured by field tests. The field tests were carried out for 5 days just after concrete placement, for 1 day after 52 and 72 days on Chung-Ang Expressway construction site in Dan-yang on the 28th and 29th of May 2001. The joint movements were measured by demec gauge and clip gauge. The results of regression analysis for the data measured during early 5 days showed that the joints of No.4, No.5, No.6, No.10, No.13, and No.15 could be considered as a moving joint. From data analysis on july 20, the joints of No.2, No.9, and No.10 showed the significant correlations from the minus value of coefficient of regression. As a result of regression data on August 8, joint movements occurred at all joints. Joint freezing and closure could be judged from the regression analysis using joint opening and total temperature measured at field tests.
Sensors and systems in Civionics technology play an important role for continuously facilitating real-time structure monitoring systems by detecting and locating damage to or degradation of structures. An advanced materials, design processes, long-term sensing ability of sensors, electromagnetic interference, sensor placement techniques, data acquisition and computation, temperature, harsh environments, and energy consumption are important issues related to sensors for structural health monitoring (SHM). This paper provides a comprehensive survey of various sensor technologies, sensor classes and sensor networks in Civionics research for existing SHM systems. The detailed classification of sensor categories, applications, networking features, ranges, sizes and energy consumptions are investigated, summarized, and tabulated along with corresponding key references. The current challenges facing typical sensors in Civionics research are illustrated with a brief discussion on the progress of SHM in future applications. The purpose of this review is to discuss all the types of sensors and systems used in SHM research to provide a sufficient background on the challenges and problems in optimizing design techniques and understanding infrastructure performance, behavior and current condition. It is observed that the most important factors determining the quality of sensors and systems and their reliability are the long-term sensing ability, data rate, types of processors, size, power consumption, operation frequency, etc. This review will hopefully lead to increased efforts toward the development of low-powered, highly efficient, high data rate, reliable sensors and systems for SHM.
