Many industries need the universal standard or technique to obtain the identical CCT regardless of specimen geometries. This study aimed to determine an appropriate applied torque to the cylindrical specimen defining the apparatus and the procedure to measure the temperature of initiating crevice corrosion in tubular shape products such as pipes, tubes and round rods etc; the test method also proved applicable to the plate type specimen. A series of experiments for CCT measurements with the plate type and cylindrical stainless steel specimens of various diameters with different microstructures (austenitic and duplex) and PRENs were conducted to determine the relationship among geometries on CCT. Thus, the apparatus that could measure the CCT of stainless steels with both plate and cylindrical geometries was newly designed. The use of the apparatus facilitated the same CCT value for both geometries only if the specimens were made of the same alloy. The applied torque can be calculated for various diameters of the cylindrical specimens using the following relation; Applied torque, $Nm=-0.0012D^2+0.019D+2.4463$ (D; the diameter of cylindrical specimen, mm). However, upwards of 35 mm diameter cylindrical specimens require 1.58Nm, which is the same torque for the plate type specimen; in addition, this test method cannot be used for cylindrical specimens of less than 15 mm diameter.

The aim of this paper is to determine the proper heat treatment temperature for SDSS tube production without ${\sigma}$-phase precipitation. When Mother steel tube was heat treated at $800^{\circ}C$ temperature, relatively a large amount of ${\sigma}$-phase precipitated and grain refinement of ferrite phase occurred simultaneously. However, in Pilgered and Drawn steel tubes, grain refinement of the ferrite phase did not occur and a small amount of ${\sigma}$-phase precipitated. For all three types of steel tubes, the pitting potential was reduced to 2/5 or less compared with the untreated one and corrosion also occurred in the salt spray test due to the precipitation of ${\sigma}$-phase. When heat treatment temperature was $900^{\circ}C$, grain refinement of the ferrite phase occurred and very little ${\sigma}$-phase precipitated in Pilgered and Drawn steel tubes. But when heat treatment was done at $1,000^{\circ}C$ temperature, all three types of steel tubes had a similar corrosion properties of that of untreated one and also corrosion did not occur in the salt spray test, as ${\sigma}$-phase did not precipitate. Therefore, the optimum heat treatment temperature range is determined to be more than $1000^{\circ}C$ for the SDSS at which corrosion does not occur.

Titanium and titanium alloy can be reproduced immediately even if oxide films($TiO_2$) break apart in sea water. Therefore, since titanium demonstrates large specific strength and outstanding resistance to stress corrosion cracking, crevice corrosion, pitting and microbiologically influenced corrosion in sea water environment, it has been widely applied to heat exchanger for ships. In particular, with excellent elongation, pure titanium may be deemed as optimal material for production of heat exchanger plate which is used with wrinkles formed for efficient heat exchange. Conventional plate type heat exchanger prevented leakage of liquid through insertion of gasket between plates and mechanical tightening by bolts and nuts, but in high temperature and high pressure environment, gasket deterioration and leakage occur, so heat exchanger for LPG re-liquefaction device etc do not use gasket but weld heat exchanger plate for use. On the other hand, since welded plate cannot be separated, it is important to obtain high quality reliable welds. In addition, for better workability and production performance, lasers that can obtain weldment with large aspect ratio and demonstrate fast welding speed even in atmospheric condition not in vacuum condition are used in producing products. So far, 1st report and 2nd report compared and analyzed embrittlement degrees by bead colors of weldment through quantitative analysis of oxygen and nitrogen and measurement of hardness as fundamental experiment for the evaluation of titanium laser welding, and evaluated the welding performance and mechanical properties of butt welding. This study welded specimens in various conditions by using laser and GTA welding machine to apply edge welding to heat exchanger, and evaluated the mechanical strength through tensile stress test. As a result of tensile test, laser weldment demonstrated tensile strength 4 times higher than GTA welds, and porosity could be controlled by increasing and decreasing slope of laser power at overlap area.

Al-Mg alloy, an open rack vaporizer(ORV) material was reported to be corroded in seawater environments though the ORV material was coupled to thermally sprayed Al-Zn alloy functioning a sacrificial anode. In addition, the corrosion behavior based on the calculated corrosion potential did not match the observed corrosion behavior. Hence, the goal of this study is to get better understanding on Al or Al-Mg alloy coupled to Al-Zn alloy and to provide the calculated corrosion potential representing the corrosion behavior of the ORV material by immersion test, electrochemical tests, and calculation of corrosion and galvanic potential. The corrosion potentials of Al and Al alloys also depended on alloying element as well as surface defects. The corrosion potentials of Al and Al-Mg alloy were changed with time. In the meantime, the corrosion potentials of Al-Zn alloys were not. The corrosion rates of Al-Zn alloys were exponentially increased with zinc contents. The phenomena were explained with the stability of passive film proved by passive current density depending on pH and confirmed by the model proposed by McCafferty. Dissimilar material crevice corrosion (DMCC) test shows that higher content of zinc caused Al-Mg alloy corroded more rapidly, which was due to the fact that higher corrosion rate of Al-Zn makes [$H^+$] and [$Cl^-$] more concentrated within pit solution to corrode Al-Mg alloy. Considering electrochemical reactions within pit as well as bulk in the calculation gives better prediction on the corrosion behavior of Al and Al-Mg alloy as well as the capability of Al-Zn alloy for corrosion protection.
The purpose of this study was to measure maximum bite force and to investigate its relationship with anteroposterior, vertical, and transverse facial skeletal measurements. From among the dental students at the College of Dentistry, forty subjects (26 male and 14 female) were selected. With two sets of strain gauge, maximum bite force at the right and left first molars and anterior teeth was measured in the morning and afternoon. After taking lateral and posteroanterior cephalograms, fifty and nineteen variables were evaluated, respectively Paired t-tests and an independent t-test were done and correlation coefficients were obtained. 1. The maximum bite force at the first molars was $68.0\pm13.9kg$. in males and $55.6\pm10.5kg$ in females (p<0.05) while the force at the anterior teeth was $8.4\pm4.9kg\;and\;1.1\pm3.4kg$ respectively (p<0.05). 2. Some tendency for a greater value of maximum bite force at the preferred side was observed but not statistically significant (p>0.05). 3. Significant difference was observed between the strong bite force group and the weak bite force group in some cephalometric and other measurements (p<0.05). N-S-Ar, S-Ar-Go, FH-Hl, IMPA and MMO showed a significant difference in posterior maximum bite force (P). N-S-Ar and FH-H1 also showed a significant difference in anterior maximum bite force (A). 4. Several cephalometric variables showed some correlation with maximum bite force (p<0.05). N-S-Ar, S-Ar-Go, UGA, FH-H6, FH-H1, body weight and MMO were significantly correlated with posterior maximum bite force (P). Go-Me, P-1 and IMPA were significantly correlated with anterior maximum bite force (A).
This study was conducted to examine the metal release of TiN-plated stainless steel orthodontic appliances by constructing the simulated orthodontic appliances equivalent to maxillary half arch, by dividing into TiN-plated and TiN-nonplated Bloops and by dividing again these groups into welded and nonwelded groups. And then, the total quantity of metal release was obtained by measuring the amounts of both soluble and precipitated nickel and chromium after immersing in artificial saliva for 15 days. And then, the corrosion appearance of surface structure was observed by using SEM. The results of this study were summarized as follows. 1. The total amounts of released nickel and chromium showed that the TiN-plated group after welding(Group 1) was 25.46 ${\mu}g$, respectively, and 17.4 ${\mu}g$, while the TiN-nonplated group after welding(Group III) was 54.69 ${\mu}g$, respectively, and 85.27 ${\mu}g$. Then, the TiN-Plated group indicated less amounts of metal release(p<0.05). 2. The total amounts of the TiN-plated group without welding(Group II) was 0.05${\mu}g$ and 0.34${\mu}g$, respectively. Then, it was shown that the TiN-plated group without welding(Group II) indicated less metal release than that of the TiN-Plated group after welding(Group I)(p<0.01, p<0.05). 3. When observing their surface structure, there were a lot of precipitate and pitting corrosion in the groups with welding(Group I & III), when the TiN-plated group(Group I) showed lower level than the TiN-nonplated group(Group IIII). On the other hand, the groups without welding(Group II & IV) indicated a little of pitting corrosion. 4. In case of observation with the naked eyes, it was shown that there were significant disco1oration and corrosion in the groups with welding(Group I & III), while there was no any remarkable change in the groups without welding(Group II & IV).

A system for diagnosing surface defects of long and large pipe inner overlay welds, 1m in diameter and 6m in length, was developed using a Liquid Penetrant Test (PT). First, CATIA was used to model all major units and PT machines in 3-dimensions. They were used for structural strength analysis and strain analysis, and to check the motion interference phenomenon of each unit to produce two-dimensional production drawings. Structural strength analysis and deformation analysis using the ANSYS results in a maximum equivalent stress of 44.901 MPa, which is less than the yield tensile strength of SS400 (200 MPa), a material of the PT Machine. An examination of the performance of the developed equipment revealed a maximum travel speed of 7.2 m/min., maximum rotational speed of 9 rpm, repeatable position accuracy of 1.2 mm, and inspection speed of $1.65m^2/min$. The results of the automatic PT-inspection system developed to check for surface defects, such as cracks, porosity, and undercut, were in accordance with the method of ASME SEC. V&VIII. In addition, the results of corrosion testing of the overlay weld layer in accordance with the ferric chloride fitting test by the method of ASME G48-11 indicated that the weight loss was $0.3g/m^2$, and met the specifications. Furthermore, the chemical composition of the overlay welds was analyzed according to the method described in ASTM A375-14, and all components met the specifications.
A Pseudomonas fluorescens was selected from mushrooms and studied in both batch and fed-batch cultures in order to get maximal biomass concentration. P. fluorescens is an aerobic bacterium and antagonistic to Pseudomonas tolaasii which causes blotch disease on the mushroom cap. P fluarescens and P. tolaasii were identified by Gram staining, gelatin liquefaction, oxidase test, etc. and were characterized by pigment production, temperature sensitivity, salt tolerance and rapid pitting test, etc., Celts of P. fluorescens well in medium containing 30g/L of glucose, whereas the growth was inhibited at the glucose levels at higher than 30g/L. The highest values of specific growth rate and productivity were obtained when using 10g/1 of yeast extract. Optimum concentrations of $NH_4Cl$ and ${(NH_4Cl)}_2SO_4$ for culture were found to be 1.0g/L and 0.1g/L respectively. Optimum concentration of $MgSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O$ used as a sulfursource was 1.0g/L. It was also found that the cell concentrations reached the maximum level when grown on the medium containing 1.0g/L of $KH_2PO_4$ and 0.1g/L of $CaCl_2$. Also, the optimum culture conditions were $30^{\circ}C$ and pH 6.0. Cultivation of P. fluarescens at high dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration led to a decrease of bacterial productivity in batch culture. Maximum productivity was achieved at 40% DO concentration.
Titanium and its alloys are finding increasing use in medical devices and dental implants. The strong selling point of titanium is its resistance to the highly corrosive body fluids in which an implant must survive. This corrosion resistance is due to a tenacious passive oxide or film which exists on the metal's surface and renders it passive. Potentiodynamic polarization measurement is one of the most commonly used electro-chemical methods that have been applied to measure corrosion rates. And the potentiodynamic polarization test supplies detailed information such as open circuit, rupture, and passivation potential. Furthermore, it indicates the passive range and sensitivity to pitting corrosion. This study was designed to compare the corrosion resistance of the commonly used dental implant materials such as CP Ti, Ti-6A1-4V, Co-Cr-Mo alloy, and 316L stainless steel. And the effects of galvanic couples between titanium and the dental alloys were assessed for their useful-ness-as. materials for superstructure. The working electrode is the specimen , the reference electrode is a saturated calomel electrode (SCE), and the counter electrode is made of carbon. In $N_2-saturated$ 0.9% NaCl solutions, the potential scanning was performed starting from -800mV (SCE) and the scan rate was 1 mV/sec. At least three different polarization measurements were carried out for each material on separate specimen. The galvanic corrosion measurements were conducted in the zero-shunt ammeter with an implant supraconstruction surface ratio of 1:1. The contact current density was recorded over a 24-hour period. The results were as follows : 1. In potential-time curve, all specimens became increasingly more noble after immersion in the test solution and reached between -70mV and 50mV (SCE) respectively after 12 hours. 2. The Ti and Ti alloy in the saline solution were most resistant to corrosion. They showed the typical passive behavior which was exhibited over the entire experimental range. Therefore no breakdown potentials were observed. 3. Comparing the rupture potentials, Ti and Ti alloy had the high(:st value (because their break-down potentials were not observed in this study potential range ) followed by Co-Cr-Mo alloy and stainless steel (316L). So , the corrosion resistance of titanium was cecellent, Co-Cr-Mo alloy slightly inferior and stainless steel (316L) much less. 4. The contact current density sinks faster than any other galvanic couple in the case of Ti/gold alloy. 5. Ag-Pd alloy coupled with Ti yielded high current density in the early stage. Furthermore, Ti became anodic. 6. Ti/Ni-Cr alloy showed a relatively high galvanic current and a tendency to increase.
Gear reducers are widely used for various agricultural machinery applications such as greenhouses, tractors, and agricultural vehicles. However, thermal deformation and surface pitting at gear tooth flank frequently occur in gear reducers due to high torque. Thus, surface heat treatment of gears is required to improve wear and fatigue resistance. The objective of this study was to simulate the load capacity of the agricultural gear reducer. The simulation was performed for the following three surface heat treatment methods: untreated gears, nitriding heat treatment, and induction hardening method, those mostly used for agricultural gear reducers. The load capacity of the gear reducer was simulated using the safety factor, limit bending stress, and limit contact stress of the gear. The simulation of the load capacity was conducted using KISSsoft commercial software for gear analysis. The main results of simulation test were as follows: first, the nitriding heat treatment resulted in the highest safety factor for bending stress, which was increased about 77% from those of the untreated gears. Second, the induction hardening was the highest safety factor for contact stress, which was increased about 150% from those of the untreated gears. The safety factor for contact stress of the induction hardening was increased about 64% from those of the nitriding heat treatment. The study result suggested that the surface heat treatments could enhance load capacity and that the method of surface heat treatment should be determined based on simulation results for appropriate use scenarios.
