A novel rapid prototyping (RP) process, an automated transfer type variable lamination manufacturing process (Automated VLM-ST) has been developed. In Automated VLM-ST, a vacuum chuck and linear moving system transfer the plate type material with two pilot holes to the rotation stage. A four-axis synchronized hotwire cutter cuts the material twice to generate Automated Unit Shape Layer (AUSL) with the desired width, side slopes, length, and two reference shapes in accordance with CAD data. Each AUSL is stacked on the stacking plate with two pilot pins using the pilot holes in AUSL and the pilot pins. Subsequently, adhesive is supplied to the top surface of the stacked AUSL by a bonding roller and pressure is simultaneously applied to the bottom surface of the stacked AUSL. Finally, three-dimensional shapes are rapidly fabricated. This paper describes the procedure for generating the cutting path data (AUSL data) f3r automated VLM-ST. The method for the generation of the Automated Unit Shape Layer (AUSL) in Automated VLM-ST was practically applied and fabricated for a various shapes.

The pilot system for radioactive liquid laundry waste was developed with treatment capacity, 1ton/hr and set up in the Yong Kwang unit #4. The system is composed of tank module, RO systems and a UV/$H_2O$$_2$photo-oxidation unit. The RO system consists of the BW unit (low-pressure RO for brackish water desalination) and the SW unit (high-pressure RO for seawater desalination). The BW unit possesses 4 RO membranes and it can reduce the feed water volume down to 1/10. This concentrated feed water can be reduced again up to 1/10 in its volume in the SW unit composed of 4 RO membranes. The UV/$H_2O$$_2$ photo-oxidation process unit was used for the detergent degradation. The operation of the pilot system was carried out and verified in its capability through the continuous operation and concentration operation using the actual liquid waste from the power plant. The design criteria and data for industrialization were yielded. The efficiency of the UV/$H_2O$$_2$ photo-oxidation process and the optimum operational procedure were evaluated. The decontamination factors for radioactive cobalt and cesium were measured. This on-site test showed the experimental result in the DF$\geq$300 and volume reduction factor$\geq$100.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the opinions of hospital managers on DRG pilot study. Methods: Managers of 800 hospitals which had participated in DRG pilot study during the period 1997-1999, were requested to respond to structured self-administerd questionnaire. The questionnaire was composed with six categories: the motivation and satisfaction for the DRG pilot study, the opinions on the level of unit price, the appropriateness of DRG classification, the change of medical service quality during the pilot study, the patient's complains resulted from DRG system. and the opinions on the nation-wide application of DRG system. Results : Of the 800 subjects, 327(clinic, 210: 25 hospitals, 82 general hospitals, and 16 tertiary hospitals) completed the questionnaire, and the overall response rate was 41%, 121 hospitals(27%) answered that they participated in DRG pilot study because of convenience of claims and 118 hospitals(35%) dissatisfied with DRG system. 251 hospitals(85%) thought that the level of unit price under the DRG system was same as or lower than that of fee-for service. 297 hospitals(92%) responded that DRG classification should be modified and 137 hospitals(47%) experienced deterioration of medical service quality during the DRG pilot study. The 116 hospitals(35%) experienced the patient's complains resulted from DRG system. The 85 hospitals(88%) didn't want nation-wide application of DRG system. Conclusion: Most of the responded managers seemed to have negative opinions on DRG pilot study, even though they had been participated voluntarily. Further studies and extensive evaluations of DRG reimbursement system are needed before nation-wide application.
Objective: Bilateral movement training is an effective method for upper extremity rehabilitation of stroke. An approach to induce bilateral movement through functional electrical stimulation is attempted. The purpose of this study is to develop an EMG-triggered functional electrical stimulation device for upper extremity bilateral movement training in stroke patients and test its feasibility. Design: Feasibility and Pilot study design. Methods: We assessed muscle activation and kinematic data of the affected and unaffected upper extremities of a stroke patient during wrist flexion and extension with and without the device. Wireless EMG was used to evaluate muscle activity, and 12 3D infrared cameras were used to evaluate kinematic data. Results: We developed an EMG-triggered functional electrical stimulation device to enable bilateral arm training in stroke patients. A system for controlling functional electrical stimulation with signals received through a 2-channel EMG sensor was developed. The device consists of an EMG sensing unit, a functional electrical stimulation unit, and a control unit. There was asymmetry of movement between the two sides during wrist flexion and extension. With the device, the asymmetry was lowest at 60% of the threshold of the unaffected side. Conclusions: In this study, we developed an EMG-triggered FES device, and the pilot study result showed that the device reduces asymmetry.
Air balancer is a conveyance cargo-handling machine, used in assembly and process lines of car and machining industries. This can lift up an object, the weight of which is from 5 to 200 kg, and moves it to a position. As industrial technologies evolve, it is required to move an object and fit it into a specified position with greater accuracy, rather than performing simple tasks such as lifting objects up and down as conventional ones do. There is also a demand to handle an object with one hand, rather than with two hands,. Through designs of manifold unit for an air balancer function, pilot regulator unit to keep pressure constant, hand unit for an accurate load perception function, and air balancer circuit, this study enables everybody to work it with ease and convenience. Experiments and comparisons were conducted for the performance evaluation of the circuit.
In this paper, we describe the real-time parallel processing simulator developed for the use of performance analysis of rolling missiles. The real-time parallel processing simulator developed here consists of seeker emulator generating infrared image signal on aircraft, real-time computer, host computer, system unit, and actual equipments such as auto-pilot processor and seeker processor. Software is developed from mathematic models, 6 degree-of-freedom module, aerodynamic module which are resided in real-time computer, and graphic user interface program resided in host computer. The real-time computer consists of six TIC-40 processors connected in parallel. The seeker emulator is designed by using analog circuits coupled with mechanical equipments. The system unit provides interface function to match impedance between the components and processes very small electrical signals. Also real launch unit of missiles is interfaced to simulator through system unit. In order to apply the real-time parallel processing simulator to performance analysis equipment of rolling missiles it is essential to perform the performance verification test of simulator.
A pilot scale (200kg/hr) pyrolysis melting incineration system is designed and constructed in Korea Institute of Industrial Technology. The incineration process is composed of pyrolysis, gas combustion, ash melting, gas stabilization, waste heating boiler, and bag filter. For each unit process, experimental approaches have been conducted to find optimal design and operating conditions. Especially, a pyrolysis is very important process in that it is a way of energy recirculation and minimizing the waste products. This paper presents major results of the most efficient operating conditions in a pilot scale pyrolysis melting incinerator.
In a wireless mobile communication system, a pilot signal has been considered to be a necessary signal for estimating a changing channel between a base station and a terminal. All mobile communication systems developed so far have a specification for transmitting pilot signals. However, although the pilot signal transmission is easy to estimate the channel,(Ed: unclear wording: it is easy to use the pilot signal transmission to estimate the channel?) it should be minimized because it uses radio resources for data transmission. In this paper, we propose a pilotless channel estimation scheme (PCE) by introducing the clustering method of unsupervised learning used in our deep learning into channel estimation.(Ed: highlight- unclear) The PCE estimates the channel using only the data symbols without using the pilot signal at all. Also, to apply PCE to a real system, we evaluated the performance of PCE based on the resource block (RB), which is a resource allocation unit used in LTE. According to the results of this study, the PCE always provides a better mean square error (MSE) performance than the least square estimator using pilots, although it does not use the pilot signal at all. The MSE performance of the PCE is affected by the number of data symbols used and the frequency selectivity of the channel. In this paper, we provide simulation results considering various effects(Ed: unclear, clarify).
In the case of the Navy, if some of the co-pilots are included in the long-term promotion process due to the limited number of co-pilots, operational flight and administrative tasks will be added to the co-pilots not included in the rest of the Pilot in commander process. Therefore, to solve this problem, the co-pilot who has passed the PQS step-by-step process minimizes the personnel gap in the flight operation unit through a system that evaluates whether it is possible to perform its duties as a co-pilot through actual flight after entering the school. The advantage of the PQS course is that you can control flight plans on your own and minimize gaps in flight and ground work while carrying out the curriculum, but you can't focus on education or improve your skills due to irregular training flight cycles. Therefore, in this study, after collecting opinions on effective flight cycles through a survey of pilots of P-3C, the Navy's fixed-wing aircraft representative, we will analyze the association of aircraft volume performance by flight cycle to derive the optimal flight cycle of the P-3C pilot course.
