오스테나이트계 고질소 스테인레스 강의 열간 및 냉간 압연특성 (Hot and Cold Rolling Characteristic with High-Nitrogen Steel of Austenitic Stainless (HNS))

  • At 21st century, material development concepts were changed to fulfill the environmental friendly demands. This study is to study the effect of pressurized nitrogen gas and manganese in high nitrogen austenitic stainless steel(HNS) in which N and Mn elements substitute the nickel element. 100kg HNS ingots were made by Pressurized Vacuum Induction Melting(P-VIM) and were forged according to free forging process. As forged HNS were hot and cold rolled by pilot scale rolling machine. Depending on the rolling condition, the mechanical properties of HNS were changed. The roll thrust and sheet folding showed asymmetry condition between work and drive side during cold and hot rolling. The purpose of this study are to improve workability the hot and cold rolling machine and to set the conditions for establishing the rolling process.

An Approximate Model for Predicting Roll Force in Rod Rolling

  • This paper presents a study of the effect of rolling temperature, roll gap (pass height), initial specimen size and steel grades of specimens on the roll force in round-oval-round pass sequence by applying approximate method and verifications through single stand pilot rod rolling tests. The results show that the predicted roll forces are in good agreement with the experimentally measured ones. The approximate model is independent of the change of roll gap, specimen size and temperature. Thus, the generality of the prediction methodology employed in the approximate model is proven. This study also demonstrates that Shida's constitutive equation employed in the approximate model needs to be corrected somehow to be applicable for the medium and high carbon steels in a lower temperature interval (700∼900$\^{C}$).

고온압연공정에서 강종 및 감면율 변화에 따른 마찰계수 변화 분석 (Analysis of Friction Coefficient Dependent on Variation of Steel Grade and Reduction Ratio in High Temperature Rolling Process)

  • Experimental and numerical studies were performed to examine the effect of material temperature and reduction ratio on friction coefficient during hot flat rolling. We carried out a single pass pilot hot flat rolling test at the temperatures range of $900{\sim}1200^{\circ}C$ and measured the spread of deformed material while reduction ratio varied from 20% to 40%. Materials used in this study were a high carbon steel and two alloy steels. The dimension of specimen used in hot rolling experiment was $50mm{\times}50mm{\times}300mm$. We performed a series of finite element simulation of the hot rolling process to compute the friction coefficient change in terms of steel grade and reduction ratio. Results showed that temperature dependency of friction coefficient is not noteworthy but the effect of reduction ratio on friction coefficient is quite large. For high carbon steel, friction coefficient at reduction ratio of 30% is lower than that at that of 20%. Meanwhile friction coefficient at reduction ratio of 40% was one and half times large compared with that at that of 20%. The effect of steel grade on friction coefficient was significant when reduction ration was large, e.g., 40%.

Comparing Chewable and Manual Toothbrushes for Reducing Dental Plaque: A Pilot Study

  • This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of chewable toothbrush and manual toothbrush and provide basic data for recommendation of the chewable toothbrush in specific groups and situations. A total of 20 subjects participated in this study (rolling method, 10; non-rolling method, 10). After professional prophylaxis, participants used the manual toothbrush to brush their teeth for 3 minutes. After a 7-day wash-out period, participants used the chewable toothbrush according to the manufacturer's instructions. Pre- and post-plaque indexing of the teeth was performed. The dental plaque index was assessed using the Turesky Modification of the Quigley-Hein Plaque Index (TMQHPI) for amount of plaque and Silness-Loe Plaque Index (SLPI) for plaque thickness. The difference between pre- and post-dental plaque index was analyzed using a paired t-test and the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The Mann-Whitney U test was also used to compare the dental plaque index reduction rates. The dental plaque index differed significantly between the chewable toothbrush and the manual toothbrush. The TMQHPI reduction rate was significantly different between the rolling and non-rolling method groups for the manual toothbrush but not the chewable toothbrush. The difference in SLPI reduction rate between the rolling and non-rolling method groups was significant for the manual toothbrush but not for the chewable toothbrush. Differences in the dental plaque index reduction rates between the chewable and manual toothbrushes were not significant in the non-rolling method group. The results of this study showed higher reduction rates in dental plaque with manual toothbrush use than with chewable toothbrush use. However, the non-rolling method group did not show statistically significant differences according to toothbrush type. The present study showed that a chewable toothbrush can be an alternative to a manual toothbrush for individuals who have difficulty using the generally recommended rolling method.

조종운동이 유발하는 횡경사모우멘트의 불안정거동에 관한 연구 (On the Unstable Behavior of Roll Moment due to the Manoeuvering of a Ship)

  • In order to evaluate rolling characteristics of high speed container carrier the author developed yaw-sway-rudder coupled rool equation, which is likely to be 5th order differential equation. The free rolling time history with particular reference to automatic steering, was computed upon the base of the yaw-sway-rudder coupled roll equation. The computed result explained effects of $C_1$ and $C_2$ on rolling behaviors and furthermore the effect of $C_2$ proved to be very effective where $C_1$ and $C_2$ are yaw gin constant and yaw-rate gain constant of auto-pilot respectively. Computation was carried out using Matsumoto's data of hydrodynamic force derivatives of 5 meter long container model.

페라이트계 스테인리스강의 열간압연 시 발생하는 Sticking 기구 연구 (Mechanism Study of Sticking Occurring during Hot Rolling of Ferritic Stainless Steel)

  • Mechanisms of sticking phenomena occurring during hot rolling of a modified STS 430J1L ferritic stainless steel have been investigated in this study by using a pilot-plant-scale rolling machine. As the rolling pass proceeds, the Fe-Cr oxide layer formed in a reheating furnace is destroyed, and the destroyed oxides penetrate into the rolled steel to form a thin oxide layer on the surface region. The sticking does not occur on the surface region containing oxides, whereas it occurs on the surface region without oxides by the separation of the rolled steel at high temperatures. This indicates that the resistance to sticking increases by the increase in the surface hardness when a considerable amount of oxides are formed on the surface region, and that the sticking can be evaluated by the volume fraction and distribution of oxides formed on the surface region. The lubrication and the increase of the rolling speed and rolling temperature beneficially affect to the resistance to sticking because they accelerate the formation of oxides on the steel surface region. In order to prevent or minimize the sticking, thus, it is suggested to increase the thickness of the oxide layer formed in the reheating furnace and to homogeneously distribute oxides along the surface region by controlling the hot-rolling process.

유도탄 성능분석을 위한 실시간 병렬처리 시뮬레이터 연구 (Study on Real-time Parallel Processing Simulator for Performance Analysis of Missiles)

  • In this paper, we describe the real-time parallel processing simulator developed for the use of performance analysis of rolling missiles. The real-time parallel processing simulator developed here consists of seeker emulator generating infrared image signal on aircraft, real-time computer, host computer, system unit, and actual equipments such as auto-pilot processor and seeker processor. Software is developed from mathematic models, 6 degree-of-freedom module, aerodynamic module which are resided in real-time computer, and graphic user interface program resided in host computer. The real-time computer consists of six TIC-40 processors connected in parallel. The seeker emulator is designed by using analog circuits coupled with mechanical equipments. The system unit provides interface function to match impedance between the components and processes very small electrical signals. Also real launch unit of missiles is interfaced to simulator through system unit. In order to apply the real-time parallel processing simulator to performance analysis equipment of rolling missiles it is essential to perform the performance verification test of simulator.

냉간 압연된 전기강판의 응력-변형률 곡선 모델 (Modeling of Stress-strain Curve for Cold Rolled Electrical Steel)

  • A constitutive equation of the electrical steel strip used for a raw material of transformer is proposed. The stress-strain behavior of electrical steel strip is quite different from that of common carbon steel and/or alloy steel. A series of tensile tests were performed with the specimens made from cold rolled strip. Several thicknesses of the strip were produced by a two-high (with upper and lower rolls) cold rolling pilot mill as reduction ratio increases from 10% to 90%. Its initial thickness of the strip was 2.5mm. Tensile specimens are cut out from the cold rolled strips. Mechanical properties of the steel are examined through rolling direction. Ramberg-Osgood model and the proposed equation are combined to describe the total behavior of stress-strain including instability region. The stress-strain curves calculated from the present constitutive equation are compared with those from experimentally obtained at each test condition of reduction ratios of specimen. Results show that the predicted stress-strain curves are in overall in a good agreement with measured ones.

실리콘 강판 압연시 에지크랙 발생에 관한 유한요소해석 (Finite Element Based Edge Crack Analysis of Silicon-Steel Sheet in Cold Rolling)

  • 본 논문에서는 냉간압연 중에 실리콘 강판의 에지부에 발생하는 크랙을 해석하는 방법을 제시하였다. 본 방법은 손상역학의 개념에 기초하여 소재의 변형 중 발생하는 손상개시와 손상진전 및 파괴의 형태로 순차적으로 해석하는 기법이다. 이를 통해 압연 중에 크랙 발생 유무와 발생 후 크랙의 진전된 길이 및 형상을 예측할 수 있다. 소재의 파괴물성치는 일반 판상시편 및 노치 판상시편의 인장실험을 통해서 도출하였다. 압연중 발생하는 에지크랙 해석결과가 얼마만큼 정확한지 평가하기 위해서 시험압연기를 통해 얻은 압연시편과 직접 형상 비교를 수행하였다. 크랙의 길이 및 방향 측면에서 본 해석기법의 예측정도가 실험에 상당부분 근접함을 알 수 있었다. 마지막으로 실리콘 강판의 실제 압연공정으로 에지크랙 해석을 수행하여 초기크랙 길이 및 압연기 출측 강판 감기 인장력에 따른 크랙 진전 거동에 대해 분석하였다.

버퍼링 과정에서의 오차전파 측정을 위한 선험 프로젝트 수행 (A Pilot Project to Measure Propagated Error in Buffering Process)

  • 버퍼링은 근접 관련 공간분석에서 흔히 사용되는 기능의 하나이다. 버퍼링은 불가피하게 새로운 다각형을 생성하게 되는데 이는 버퍼전 객체의 주변에 볼을 굴려서 얻어지는 외곽선으로부터 생성된다. 버퍼링 과정에서 버퍼전 객체 상에 존재하는 오차는 새로이 생성된 다각형인 버퍼 후 객체로 전파된다. 본 논문에서는 버퍼링 연산의 시행시 이와 같은 오차의 전파양상을 선험 프로젝트에 기반하여 분석하여 보았다. 이를 위해 두개의 자료모델인 다중선과 스플라인 곡선모델이 이용되었다. 두 모델을 이용하여 버퍼전 객체상의 오차를 분류하고, 수학적으로 정의하고, 측정하여 보았다. 측정을 위한 선험 프로젝트의 대상은 미국 위스콘신주에 있는 호수의 경계로 하였다.
