CDMA를 이용한 양방향 LMDS 역방향 채널구조 (Upstream Channel Structure for Bidirectional LMDS using CDMA)

  • 본 논문에서는 양방향 LMDS(LOcal Multipoint distribution Services)의 역방향 채널에 CDMA(Code division Multiple Access)를 적용하기 위한 CDMA 역방향 채널구조로 시분할 다중화된 파일롯을 각 사용자마다 할당받아서 동기복조를 하는 방식을 제안한다. 제안한 방식은 역방향 CDMA 채널에서 파일롯 채널을 이용한 동기방식의 변복조를 적용하여 비동기 방식에 의한 성능열화를 개선함과 동시에 파일롯 채널에 의한 간섭량을 최소로 줄인다. CDMA 역방향 채널에 동기를 위한 파일롯을 사용하면 파일롯에 의해 간섭이 증가하고 채널용량이 감소하기 때문에 파일롯의 간섭량을 최소로 줄이는 것이 상당히 중요하다. 파일롯을 사용하지 않는 비동기 방식과 연속된 파일롯을 사용하는 동기방식과 제안한 방식의 세 가지 역방향 채널 방식에 대해 비교, 분석하였다. 그 결과 제안된 파일롯 채널이 다른 두 경우에 비해 상당한 용량의 증가를 보이는 것을 확인하였다.

  • In this paper, we propose a pilot study to deploy the Railway Conflict Detection and Resolution System(RCDRS) in the context of Korean Railway(KORAIL). KORAIL plans to deploy in near future RCDRS, which is a decision support module placed on the top level of the Railway Traffic Management System(RTMS). This study entails the review of the state-of-art researches and projects in the field of the railway traffic management, as well as the analysis of the traffic characteristics of the major railroad lines in KORAIL. The analysis provides a basis to choose a solution approach for the railway conflict detection and resolution problem that each individual line faces. This study plays a role as a pilot study for a full systematic approach, in which interactions between lines require further advanced analysis to take the entire KORAIL lines into consideration rather than a myopic approach.

  • 자동항법장치(Auto-Pilot System)에 의한 방향제어는 방위계측센서에 의해 계측된 위치 정보와 선미조타장치를 바탕으로 이루어진다. 대부분의 제어시스템들은 센서 잡음을 제외하고는 고장이 없는 계측장비와 고장없는 actuator를 가정하여 상태추정 빛 제어알고리듬을 구현하고 있다. 그러나 실제 상황에서는 이러한 가정이 위험한 경우가 많다. 즉, 방위 계측장비가 고장인 난 경우, 이 잘못된 위치 정보에 기초한 제어기능은 심각한 안전상의 문제까지도 야기시킬 수 있는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 개선된 위치정보처리 방법을 포함시킨 제어시스템을 Auto-Pilot 시스템에 적용하여 보았다. 그 방법으로 센서 고장 진단 및 actuator 고장 진단용 BJDF(Beard-Jones Detection Filter)를 설계하여 그 기능을 파악하였고 일반적인 상태변수추정기와의 차이점을 보였다. 특히 센서의 Bias Error의 경우 상태변수 확장기법을 이용하여 actuator 고장진단의 모형으로 모형화 할 수 있음을 보였다. 이로 인하여 센서 고장의 경우 2차원 평면에 국한된 residual이 일정 방향의 residual로 되므로 고장진단이 용이함을 알 수 있었다.

Feasibility Study on the Landfill Monitoring and Leakage Detection System

  • It is important to obtain real-time data from long-term monitoring of landfills and develop leachate leakage detection system for the integrated management of landfills. A novel real time monitoring system and early leakage detection system was suggested in this study. The suggested monitoring system is composed of two parts; (1) a set of moisture sensors which monitor the areas surrounding the landfill, and (2) a set of moisture and temperature sensors which monitor the landfill inside. For the assessment for landfills stabilization, real-time monitoring system was evaluated in dry and wet cell of pilot-site. In addition, the grid-net electrical conductivity measurement system was also suggested as early leakage detection system. In this study, the field applicability of suggested systems was evaluated through pilot-scale field tests. The results of pilot-scale field model tests indicate that the grid-net electrical conductivity measurement method can be applicable to the detection of landfill leachate at the initial stage of intrusion, and thus has a potential for monitoring leachate leakage at waste landfills.

신호탐지론을 활용한 조종사 Error 차이 분석 (Analysis of the Difference in Pilot Error by Using the Signal Detection Theory)

  • This study was to analyze the difference in pilot error by using the Signal Detection Theory. The task was to detect the targeted aircraft(signal) which is different shape from many other aircraft(noise). From the two experiments, we differentiated the task difficulty followed by change in noise stimuli. Experiment 1 was to search the signal stimuli(fighter plane) while the noise stimuli(cargo plane) were increasing. The results from the Experiment 1 showed the tendency to decrease the hit rate by increasing the number of noise stimuli. However, the false alarm rate was not increased. The sensitivity(d') showed quite high. In Experiment 2, a disturbance stimulus(helicopter) was added to noise stimuli. The result was generally similar to those of Experiment 1. However, the hit rate was lower than that of Experiment 1.

Frequency Domain DTV Pilot Detection Based on the Bussgang Theorem for Cognitive Radio

  • In this paper, a signal detection scheme for cognitive radio (CR) based on the Bussgang theorem is proposed. The proposed scheme calculates the statistical difference between Gaussian noise and the primary user signal by applying the Bussgang theorem to the received signal. Therefore, the proposed scheme overcomes the noise uncertainty and gives scalable complexity according to the zero-memory nonlinear function for a mobile device. We also present the theoretical analysis on the detection threshold and the detection performance in the additive white Gaussian noise channel. The proposed detection scheme is evaluated by computer simulations based on the IEEE 802.22 standard for the wireless regional area network. Our results show that the proposed scheme is robust to the noise uncertainty and works well in a very low signal-to-noise ratio.

CDMA Uplink 채널 구조와 Staggered Burst 파일럿을 이용한 DBCE 검출기법 (A New CDMA Uplink Channel Structure and DBCE Detection Scheme Using Staggered Burst Pilot)

  • 본 논문에서는 새로운 staggered burst 파일렷(SBP)의 개념을 도입하여 CDMA uplink 채널 구조를 제안하였다. 즉, 데이터 채널과 병렬로 파일럿 채널을 두고 셀상의 이동체 들이 파일럿을 staggered 형태로 공유하는 구조이다. 이를 위한 recursive DBCE 알고리듬에 의한 coherent 검출 기법을 제안하고 분석하였다. 본 방법은 uplink 채널 상에서 파일럿 burst가 주기적으로 가해지므로 이전의 오동작에 대해 스스로 정상적으로 복귀되는 특정을 가지며 이로 인해 가우시언 잡음이나 도플러 전이효과에 매우 안정적으로 동작함을 입증하였다. 실험 결과에 의하면 burst 파일럿 개념을 도입함으로써 $E_{b}/N_{o}$가 0.068dB로 무시할만한 손실을 가짐을 보였다. 또한 도플러효과에 대한 실험에 있어서 이동체가 160Km/H로 주행 시 이상적인 coherent 검출 기법과 비교했을 때 required $E_{b}/N_{o}$는 2.0dB 이하로 저하되었다. 제안된 SBP 방법은 DBCE를 위한 별도의 correlator가 필요함에도 불구하고 매우 간단히 구현할 수 있는 장점을 지니고 있으며 기존의 내부, 또는 외부적인 파일럿을 가진 다른 coherent 검출기에 비하여 좋은 성능을 가점을 보였다.

Ship Detection for KOMPSAT and RADARSAT/SAR Images: Field Experiments

  • Two different sensors (here, KOMPSAT and RADARSAT) are considered for ship detection, and are used to delineate the detection performance for their data. The experiments are set for coastal regions of Mokpo Port and Ulsan Port and field experiments on board pilot boat are conducted to collect in situ ship validation information such as ship type and length. This paper introduce mainly the experiment result of ship detection by both RADARSAT SAR imagery and landbased RADAR data, operated by the local Authority of South Korea, so called vessel traffic system (VTS) radar. Fine imagery of Ulsan Port was acquired on June 19, 2004 and in-situ data such as wind speed and direction, taking pictures of ships and natural features were obtained aboard a pilot ship. North winds, with a maximum speed of 3.1 m/s were recorded. Ship's position, size and shape and natural features of breakwaters, oil pipeline and alongside ship were compared using SAR and VTS. It is shown that KOMPSAT/EOC has a good performance in the detection of a moving ship at a speed of 7 kts or more an hour that ship and its wake can be imaged. The detection capability of RADARSAT doesn't matter how fast ship is running and depends on a ship itself, e.g. its material, length and type. Our results indicate that SAR can be applicable to automated ship detection for a VTS and SAR combination service.

ATSC Digital Television Signal Detection with Spectral Correlation Density

  • In this paper, we consider the problem of spectrum sensing for advanced television systems committee (ATSC) digital television (DTV) signal detection. To exploit the cyclostationarity of the ATSC DTV signals, we employ spectral correlation density (SCD) as the decision statistic and propose an optimal detection algorithm. The major difficulty is in obtaining the probability distribution functions of the SCD. To overcome the difficulty, we probabilistically model the pilot frequency location and employ Gaussian approximation for the SCD distribution. Then, we obtain a practically implementable detection algorithm that outperforms the industry leading systems by 2-3 dB. We also propose various techniques that greatly reduce the system complexity with performance degradation by only a few tenths of decibels. Finally, we show how robust the system is to the estimation errors of the noise power spectral density level and the probability distribution of the pilot frequency location.

상수관망에서 누수탐지를 위한 역추적계산법 (Back Tracing Calculation Method for the Leakage Detection in Water Distribution System)

  • In this study, Back Tracing Calculation Method was developed to determine the leakage location and leakage amount. Previously developed determination method of monitoring location and newly developed Back Tracing Calculation Method were applied to the sample pipe network and real size pilot plant. After leakage was assumed in the pilot plant, leakage location and leakage amount could be traced by Back Tracing Calculation Method. From the results, it was found that Back Tracing Calculation Method can be applied for the leakage detection in water distribution system. Furthermore, this method can be applied for the pressure management or leakage detection as a pressure control method in water distribution system.
