Wilson's disease is a rare inborn error of metabolism inherited as a autosomal recessive trait. The disease has varied mode of manifestations. It is characterized by different neurologic disorder and hepatic disease. I experienced a case of Wilson's disease in 40 year old woman who was suffered from liver cirrhosis, severe anorexia, and classical neurologic symptoms such as tremour, dysarthria and ataxia. The symptoms was not relieved by D-penicillamine, Youngyanggaksan and Samchulgunbi-tang but anorexia was improved significantly by same medication.

This paper suggest a methodology for representation of findings which can be called as signs and symptoms. A finding consists of unit signs and unit symptoms, and moreover findings which appear in one individual patient have so many different relationship each other. So, it is nat appropriate to list all of possible findings as medical standard or to fill findings as independent things in paper for medical record. We try to distinguish finding item from finding list, and suggest the methodology by which we can make finding list from finding items. That is, we suggest finding item[Concept], value types, relationship, logical operator, and syntax as a component of representation. And by using urinary symptom, we make the example for representation methodology. Finally, we mention the background knowledge, brief research process of related area.

The causes of disease as well as the mechanisms that result in the presenting signs and symptoms of patients are basic elements in oriental medicine. The location of the disease is the region on which the cause and the nature of the disease acts. Syndrome reflects the cause of the disease and the pathological change and the location of the disease. It is customary to classify the location of the disease into two major categories. First is based on the exterior and interior and the second is based on the five internal organs. Exterior syndrome is caused by the invasion of exopathogen in skin and hair, channels and collaterals. Interior syndrome refers to the syndrome located deeply in the interior of the body such as five internal organs. The location of the disease is very important to distinguish different syndromes in the diagnosis and the treatment of a disease.

Backgroud and Purpose ; I intented to be helpful to treat diabetes through a clinical study of effect of soyangin Yangkyuksanwha-tang(凉膈散火湯). Methods : I studied 5 patients with upper diabetes who were diagnosed by Soyangin at department of Sasang constitutional Medicine in Dongeui Oriental Hospital during 1 year from August. 2001 to July. 2002. and then I investigated the clinical symptoms of the diabetics and analyzed level of examination after administration of Yangkyuksanwha-tang. Results and Conclusion ; Yangkyuksanwha-tang was administered to five diabetic patients, So-yang-in for 8 weeks. The symptoms such as frequent urination(P<0.05), thirst with frequent drinking water(P<0.01) have improved after the treatment. As results, level of FBS(P<0.01), total protein(P<0.05) and blood pressure(P<0.05) significantly decreased after administration of Yangkyuksanwha-tang.

Bacterial blight occurred on the flowers, leaves, twigs and branches of apple trees (Malus domestica Borkh) in Chunchon, Kangwon-Do. Infected flowers and leaves turned brownish black, and they were fallen down or remained hanging in the trees. Under humid conditions during postblossom period, the casual bacterium spreaded along twigs and killed them. However, killing of branches was very rare. The symptoms on apple trees were very similar to symptoms of fire blight. But the causal organism isolated from the lesions was identified as Pseudomonas syringae based on physiological and chemical characteristics. This is the first described bacterium that causes apple shoot blight in Korea.

It was aimed to report a case of both anterior cerebral artery territory infarction patient improved by korean medical treatment. The patient was diagnosed by brain magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) and magnetic resonance angiography(MRA). The symptoms were quadriplegia, urinary frequency, urinary incontinence and abulia. I applied herbal medicine, acupuncture, moxibustion, pharmacopuncture, cupping and physical exercise therapy. As a result of them, the symptoms of the patient were improved considerably. Status of the patient was evaluated by manaul muscle test(MMT), modified barthel index(MBI) and functional independence measure(FIM) and medical interview. MBI score was changed from 35 to 95 and FIM score was changed from 66 to 115. Therefore this report suggests that korean medical treatment could be effective to the anterior cerebral artery territory infarction.

The purpose of this study is to report the hemostatic effects of Kungkwikyoae-tang for abnormal uterine bleeding. Kungkwikyoae-tang has been known as a useful herbal medication for uterine bleeding. We treated patients who had been suffering from abnormal uterine bleeding with herb-medication, acupuncture therapy, pharmacopuncture therapy and moxa therapy. We prescribed Kungkwikyoae-tang three times a day. The improvement of symptoms were measured by checking patient bleeding volume, frequency and other physical signs. After Kungkwikyoae-tang was given, abnormal uterine bleeding volume and frequency was reduced and other physical symptoms were improved. This case study shows that Kungkwikyoae-tang has a hemostatic effects against the abnormal uterine bleeding.

Alcoholic polyneuropathy is a disorder of the peripheral nervous system that interferes with sensory, motor, and autonomic nerve function. This study was to report the effect of Oriental medical treatment on a patient with alcoholic polyneuropathy. Conservative Oriental medical treatment was done to a man of 84 years who was diagnosed as a alcoholic polyneuropathy and suffered from both distal dominant leg weakness & symmetrical paresthesia and ataxic gait. The changes of symptoms, reflexes and sensory test were checked by Toronto Clinical Neuropathy Scoring System(TCNSS). Reflexes, motor and sensory impairments were improved after the Oriental medical treatment. I reported good effects of Oriental medical treatment on alcoholic polyneuropathy. Oriental medical treatment can be helpful to improve the symptoms of alcoholic polyneuropathy.

Cavernous angiomas of the medulla oblongata are rare vascular malformations. We report a case of cavernous angioma with medullary hemorrhage showing symptoms of diplopia and weakness of right extremities. We treated a patient with herb medicine, acupuncture and moxibustion. This study suggests that oriental medicine therapy has a significant effect on the symptoms of medullary hemorrhage.

Wei symptom(痿證) is symptom that reveals muscle relaxation without contraction an muscle relaxation occurs in the lower or upper limbs, in severe case, leads to death. The symptoms of Wei symptom are weakness, atropy of muscle, gait disturbance, etc. We studied to evaluate the oriental medical treatment on a patient with Wei symptom. We applied various methods of oriental medical treatment including herb medicine, acupunture, moxibustion, herb acupunture. The clinical symptoms that were both lower limbs weakness, gait disturbance, etc. were improved after the methods of oriental medical treatment. The results suggest that oriental medicare is an effective treatment for Wei symptom, but more extensive research is needed.
