  • This study investigates the relevance between the subjective age and clothing shopping orientation by adults women located in the cities of Seoul and Gyeonggi. The results are following. First, subjective age was identified with interest age, look age, and physical age. Customers were segmented into following five subdivisions: young activity group, actual age group, young appearance group, physical aging group and youth-oriented group. When the study examined differences between real age and subjective age, the study could see that they perceived themselves younger four years than real age- 50s: 7 years, 40s: 5 years, the latter half of 30s: 2.7 years and the former half of 30s: 1.7 years. Second, clothing shopping orientation was identified with planned shopping orientation, leisure shopping orientation, loyal shopping orientation, economic shopping orientation and convenient shopping orientation. Customers were segmented into following three subdivisions: shopping low-involved group, loyal leisure group and planned leisure oriented group. Third, interest age was of no relevance to clothing shopping orientation. On the other hand, look age had negative correlation with leisure shopping orientation and convenient shopping orientation and physical age had a negative relationship with leisure shopping orientation and loyal shopping orientation but had positive correlation with economic shopping orientation. Fourth, in clothing purchase, clothing purchase answerers who were younger five years than actual age had the highest frequency. It means that they purchase clothing according to subjective age perceived younger four years on average.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare reported physical symptoms, hope and family support of cancer patients between general hospitals and long-term care hospitals. Methods: Subjects were 175 patients diagnosed with cancers from two general hospitals and six long-term care hospitals located in G city. Subjects completed a questionnaire with questions about general characteristics and questions about the disease, physical symptoms, hope and family support. Data was collected from February to April and the data were analyzed using an independent t-test and one-way ANOVA. Results: The subjects in long-term care hospitals showed higher percentage in pain, nausea, fatigue, sleep disorder, and change in appearance. There was a significant difference in family support between two groups. A significant positive correlation was found between hope and family support in subjects in general and long-term care hospitals. Conclusion: Significant differences were found in some physical symptoms and family support between cancer patients in general hospitals and long-term care hospitals. Thus, nurses in long-term care hospitals need provide care suitable for the characteristics of cancer patients in long-term care hospitals.

  • This study investigated developmental trends and sex differences in the relation between children's self-esteem and relevant variables by proposing and testing the causal model. The 763 children who participated in the study were 3rd, 5th, and 7th grade students. Major findings were that physical appearance was the most powerful determinant of self-esteem. Students with high self-esteem were more learning oriented, used more motivational behaviors and had higher academic achievement. The findings from this analysis of the causal model revealed remarkable developmental differentiation and stability.

  • Theoretical and experimental investigations of moires in 3D displays were performed. To describe and minimize moires, we propose the polar representation form of moire waves. The experimental and theoretical data are in good agreement except in the neighborhood of the minimization angle. The implicit formulas are found for visible moires of line gratings at finite distances. The computer simulation and the physical experiments confirm the moire appearance for this case.

  • Bifid epiglottis is a rare congenital laryngeal anormaly, usually associated with multiple con-genital anormalies which include digital anormalies and endocrinologic abnormalities. A notch or small indentation of the superior border of the epiglottis and, to a lesser degree, an epiglottis with a submucosal bifid appearance is a frequent occurrence. We report a 40-year-old woman with two distinct cartilaginous halves of the epiglottis, discovered incidentally during the physical examination.

  • This research was performed to investigate the physical properties and color appearance of Hanji manufactured using bast fibers dyed separately by two reactive dyes with different colors. The breaking length of color Ha was above 7 km. The fastness was five grade; the use of reactive dyes made the color of the Hanji not to be faded away. The Hanji manufactured by mixing uniformly two types of bast fibers separately dyed showed the mixed color of two different colors. However, the shives showed their original colors, resulted in irregular color patterns all over the sheets. The color of color Hanji with different colors in the front and back side of sheets showed color difference between front and back side of the sheets. Accordingly, the color of the sheet has a reflection from the backside, resulted in Pink. The colors of the Hanji appeared in this study could not be found from the Hanji manufactured by traditional methods.

  • To evaluate body image disturbance in Korea, the Body Image Scale(BIS) was developed and it's reliability and validity was tested. The BIS was administered to 33 subjects of normal controls and 64 patients consisting of mainly neurotic patients. The correlation coefficient, of test-retest reliability with an interval of 2 weeks was 0.88 and internal consistency coefficient Cronbach's alpha, was 0.80. Discriminant validity test indicated that there were significant differences in total BIS score between normal control group and psychiatric patients group after controlling the effects of age, sex, and educational level. Factor analysis showed two distinct dimensions, namely 'physical appearance' and 'physical health and strength'. The BIS appears to be a reliable, internally consistent and valid scale which can be used for assessing body image in Korea pupulations.
