The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of optic pathway on human body during Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation(PNF) treatment. Specifically, it's intened to find out through electromyography(EMG), what kind on change occurred in a patient's muscle when the patient saw the motor direction or when the patient didn't. A pilot experiment Was made over the sophomores of Mokpo Science College the following findings were given; As an EMG was taken over three of muscles that worked during Flexion-Adduction-Ext. Rot., one of the PNF pattern, a patient showed relatively stronger muscle power while watching the movement with his eyes open than the same patient did with his eyes closed, and the disparity between the two cases Was statistically significant(P<0.05). In the pattern of Extension-Abduction-Int.Rot., a patient also showed relatively stronger muscle power while watching the movement than the same patient did without watching it, and the disparity between the two cases also were significant(P<0.05). As seen above, the effect of motor treatment, among physiotherapy methods seemed to be greater if a patient watched the motor direction during treatment, because it gave a stimulus to proprioception.

Purpose: This study was to investigated the effect of physical function and quality of life through physical therapy and occupational therapy by Bobath approach to patient with ALS. Methods: The data of 1 patient with ALS, who visited D hospital in Busan, was collected from June 5, 2006 to August 19, 2007. To determine the physical function and quality of life, Berg Balance Scale (BBS), Gait, Skate. Purdue Pegboard, WHOQOL-BREF, COPM were used. Results: BBS score was increased 0 to 33 in the pre and post test. Gait distance was increased 0m to 500m in pre and post test. Skate score was increased 13 to 22 in the pre and post test, Purdue Pegboard score was increased 0 to 3 in the pre and post test, WHOQOL-BREF was increased 1.92 to 2.46 in the pre and post test. Average COPM score of performance and satisfaction grade of pre test score was 1 then Post test score of performance score increased to 5.7 and satisfaction increased to 4. Conclusion: Physical therapy and Occupational therapy increase physical function and quality of life in ALS patients. Physical therapy and occupational therapy should study more about patients with ALS.

This article review the animals physical therapy. It is so called veterinary physical therapy. The animals physical therapist is working to physical therapy for animals in veterinary clinical field. The veterinary medicine has not veterinary rehabilitation medicine or physical therapy for animals, also physical therapy field in Korea. So, This research will explain about animals physical therapy of Korea and other countries' by journals and internet information and suggest the future of the animals physical therapist. Finally, The veterinary physical therapy is not used to veterinary clinical field in now. But, The veterinary physical therapy will desire to the view of medical serve and economy by the host of animals and clinical veterinarian the future. Animal physical therapy is a new and rapidly developing field of health care for animals. The benefits of physical therapy have long been recognized in humans. More recently, work in the veterinary field has shown the same benefits of physical therapy to be true for animal patients. Performing orthopaedic or neurological surgery, or fitting a human patient with a cast or splint, and then discharging the patient is an outdated approach. In such cases, physical therapy is clearly warranted. Similarly, recent research has shown that post-surgical rehabilitation and therapy after injuries significantly improves the functional outcomes for animals. Physical Therapy is a healthcare profession directed at evaluating, restoring and maintaining physical function and movement. Working with the owner, veterinarian and often other healthcare professionals, a physiotherapist helps your animal to achieve and maintain optimal health and well-being. Equipped with a specialized university Bacheloriate education and intensively educated in Anatomy, Physiology, Biomechanics, Histology, Neurology, and Pathology, PT's are able to assess, diagnose and treat movement and function. Physical Therapy, Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation are recognized sciences applied to both humans and animals. The goals of physiotherapy are to relieve pain, restore range of motion/movement, improve function, prevent injuries and expand the physical potential of the patient. Once in the field, physical therapists actively continue their education to keep up to date on the latest treatments and technologies. Via continuing education courses, physiotherapists can learn how to apply their unique and specialized knowledge to other animal species.

Patient satisfaction is an important factor in evaluating the quality of care. Patient satisfaction may be used to evaluate provider services and facilities, and used to predict the patient returns to a facility. The patients decision whether the patient returns to a facility or whether the patient recommends the facility to other people may be affected by a variety of factors of patient satisfaction. This study is to develop and test of a translated and modified Goldstein's instrument that measures patient satisfaction among physical therapists patients and clients. A self-administered questionnaire survey was conducted in Seoul, Chung-Joo and Bu-Cheon cities. Survey data was obtained from 743 patients who visited the physical therapy practice at university hospitals, general hospitals and clinics. The instrument developed by Goldstein was used and translated into Korean. Several items were added to the instrument. Patient's opinions of service in each domain measured using 5-point Likert-type scales that ranged from strongly disagree to strongly agree. Principal components analysis with varimax rotation was used to indicate which questions examined similar components of patient satisfaction. Component analysis indicated eight scales (kindness, scheduling, recommendation, convenience of parking, privacy, and waiting time). Different types of validity were established well. The coefficient of reliability (Cronbach alpha =.97) obtained for the instrument was clearly within a desired range.

Purpose: The aim of the study was to survey satisfaction with physical therapy. Methods: After the physical therapy consultation, patients filled in a Korean-language version of the 20-tiem version of the MedRisk Instrument developed for measuring Patient Satisfaction with physical therapy. Items are scored on a five-point Likert scale ranging from strongly disagree to strongly agree. The last two items are general satisfaction and future return to the clinic. Age and gender information was also collected anonymously. Exploratory factor analysis based on principal components analysis with varimax rotation was performed on the first 18 items of the MedRisk Instrument using SPSS v.20. Results: Four factors emerged with eigenvalues greater than 1, and these cumulatively explained 55% of the total variance in item scores. The factors were labelled: Internal, External Positives, External Negatives, and Clinic Presentation. Correlations of the factor scores with the two global items ranged from 0.29 to 0.70 (both p<0.001). Gender differences were only found on the last factor, with male Korean patients rating Clinic Presentation significantly higher than females (p=0.001). Conclusion: Using factor analysis, the proposed factor structure was revealed using the positive and negative components of the external aspects of the physical therapy and by identifying a clinic presentation which contributes to patients' satisfaction. The largest proportion of the variance in Patient Satisfaction was related to clinicians' attention and behaviour. The results of the analysis provide guidelines as to the dimensions of professional physical therapy care and the implications for service delivery and patient experience.

It is not common in rehabilitation situation to encounter patients exhibiting paralysis or other disabilities which have no apparent organic basis. Even without organic causes for their signs and symptoms these patients often require comprehensive treatment and management. Patients with conversion disorder often pose particular difficulties because of diagnostic confusion and the lack of therapeutic strategies for rehabilitation management. We feel that systematic functional rehabilitation is helpful in resolving symptom and recovering normal function in the patient suffering from conversion disorder since it provides motivation and reduces reinforcements which contribute to sustained disabled state. This report describes the patient with hysterical motor paralysis who is successfully treated with structured physical therapy. The objectives of this report are to provide therapeutic guidelines for physical therapy and to emphasize the role of physical therapist in the assessment and treatment of hysterical paralysis.

Hospice, a concept of care for dying patients, focuses on providing comfort measures rather than aggressively searching for a cure. Hospice addresses symptom control from a wholistic view under the direction of an interdisciplinary team. Physical therapy fits with many of the tenets of hospice, such as the interdisciplinary team, inclusion of the patient and family as the care unit, provision of treatment in various in and out patient settings, and attention to the comfort of the patient. Physical therapy educators must recognize the need for medical ethics, psychosocial and medicolegal issues to be incorporated throughout the curriculum.

Patients satisfaction continues to receive attention as a measure of the outcome of physical therapy intervention. This study measures patient satisfaction among physical therapists' patients and clients and to identify factors of patient satisfaction that will affect patients decision. The instrument developed by Goldstein et. al(2000) was used. PAtients' opinions of service in each domain were measured using 5-point Likert-type scales. A 20-item instrument designed to measure the domains of patient satisfaction and 8 additional items were included. Data were collected at 8 hospital in Kwang-ju city Descriptive statistics, reliability, ANOVA, cross-tabs and regression analysis were computed. A total 365 individuals completed the instrument.
