Photoisomerization and Photo-induced Optical Anisotropy of Polymethacrylate Containing Aminonitroazobenzene

  • Photoresponsive side chain copolymer and homopolymer containing an aminonitroazobenzene were synthesized for studying photoisomerization behavior and photo-induced anisotropy. Trans-to-cis photoisomerization was observed under the exposure of a circularly polarized visible light with UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy. Reorientation of polar azobenzene molecules induced optical anisotropy under a linearly polarized light at 532nm. Polarized absorption spectroscopy was employed to investigate the anisotropy of the polymer film during irradiationg of the excitation light. Layers of two photosensitive polymers were used for aligning liquid crystal(LC) molecules instead of one of the rubbed polyimide layers in the conventional twisted nematic cell. For producing homogeneous alignment of a nematic LC molecule, a linearly polarized light was exposed to the films of two polymers. The stability of the LC alignment upon the linearly polarized light exposure was also studied.

  • 마이크로 고체 추진제 추력기는 현재의 MEMS 기술로 가장 실현 가능성이 높은 마이크로 추력기이다. 마이크로 고체 추진제 추력기의 기본 요소로는 마이크로 노즐, 마이크로 점화기, 연소 챔버 그리고 고체 추진제이다. 마이크로 노즐과 연소 챔버는 감광유리의 이방성 식각을 통해 제작이 되었다. 마이크로 점화기는 마이크로 유리 박막 백금 히터를 사용하였다. 요소들의 제작 공정을 확립 후, 요소들을 통합하여 추력기를 개발하였다. 추력기의 연소 실험을 수행하여 성공적으로 연소가 일어남을 확인하였다.

감광성 BCB를 사용한 MCM-D 기판에서 C2F6 플라즈마 clcaning 이 비야형성에 미 치는 영향 (The Effects of C2F6 Plasma Cleaning on Via Formation in MCM-D Substrate using photosensitive BCB)

  • 감광성 BCB를 사용한 MCM-D기판에 신뢰성있는 비아형성을 위하여 BCB의 공정 특성과 C2F6를 사용한 플라즈마 cleaning 영향을 분석하였다. 절연막, 금속배선재료로 각각 감광성 BCB, Cu를 사용하여 MCM-D 기판을 제작 분석한 결과 BCB는 soft bake 후 초기 두께의 50%정도 두께 손실이 있었으며 해상도는 15um이었다. BCB층에 비아 형성후 C2F6 가스로 플라즈마 cleaning 하고 AES로 비아표면을 분석한 결과 유기물 C는 검출되지 않은 반면 플라즈마 cleaning을 하지 않은 비아를 분석한 결과 유기물 성분의 C가 많이 검출되었 고 Ar 스퍼터에 의해서도 완전히 제거되지 않았다. 따라서 감광성 BCB를 절연막으로 사용 한 MCM-D 기판 제작공정에서 비아 형성후 C2F6를 이용한 플라즈마 cleaning의 필요성을 확인하였다.

  • 2.5Gbps 광통신시스템용 수광소자로서 charge plate층을 갖는 링구조의 separate absorption grading multiplication avalanche photodiode를 제작하고 그 특성을 조사 분석하였다. Avalanche Photodiode의 제작은 Metal-Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition 과 Liquid Phase Epitaxy법을 이용한 에피성장과 Br:Methanol을 이용한 채널식각 방법을 사용하였고, passivation과 평탄화는 photosensitive polyimide를 이용하였다. 제작된 ADP는 10nA 이하의 작은 누설전류를 나타내었고, -38~39 V의 항복전압을 나타내었다. 제작된 ADP를 GaAs FET hybrid 전치증폭기와 결합하여 2.5Gbps 속도에서 $2^{23}-1$의 길이를 갖는 입력 광신호에 대해 $ 10^{-10}$ Bit Error Rate에서 -31.0dBm의 수신감도를 얻었다.

Synthesis of Newel Positive Type Photosensitive Polyimide

  • Tricyclic aliphatic dianhydride monomer, tricycle[4.2.2.0]dec-9-ene exo, endo-3,4: 7,8-tetra-carboxylicdianhydride (TCDDA), was synthesized by photochemical reaction and poly(amic acid)s from TCDDA and diamines such as 1,4-bis-(4-aminophenoxy)benzene (BAB), 2,2-bis(4-(4-aminophenoxy) phenyl) propane (BAPP), 2,2-bis(4-(4-aminophenoxy)phenyl)hexafluoropropane (BAPHF), bis(4-(4-ami-nophenoxy) phenyl)sulfone (BAPS), and 1,4-bis-(4-aminophenoxy)biphenyl (BABP) were prepared. The inherent viscosities of the poly(amic acid)s were between 0.39 and 0.50 dL/g. The poly(amic acid)s were converted to polyimide films by thermal imidization. The glass transition temperatures (T$\_$g/) of the polyimides were in the range of 201-263$\^{C}$. The thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) thermogram of these polyimides showed the temperatures of 5% weight losses between 375 and 393$\^{C}$ in nitrogen atmosphere. To show their utility for image generation, degradations of these polyimides in UV exposure were investigated by UV spectroscopy.

  • Barrier ribs in the color plasma display panel(PDP) function to maintain the discharge space between to glass plates as well as to prevent optical crosstalk. Patterning of barrier ribs is one of unique processes for making PDP. In this work photosensitive barrier rib pastes were prepared by incorporating binder polymer, solvent, functional monomers photoinitiator, mid barrier rib powder. Study on the function of materials for the barrier rib paste were undertaken. After optimization of paste formulation, both photolithographic and transparent soft molding method resulted in fine pattern of barrier ribs with high aspect ratio.

Wide-Viewing Liquid Crystal Displays with Periodic Surface Gratings

  • A new concept of forming self-aligned multidomains is used for fabricating wide-viewing liquid crystal displays (LCDs) with periodic surface gratings.An array of the periodic surface gratings is produced on substrates using a photosensitive polymer by the illumination o. the UV light through a patterned photomask. A multidomain structure is naturally formed on the grating surface by the initial director distortions together with continuous variations of an external electric field. The LCD cells with periodic surface gratings are found to show excellent extinction in the off-state and wide-viewing property m the on-state.

  • N-(p-carboxyphenyl)maleimide의 염소화물을 N-(p-hydroxyphenyl)maleimide와 반응시켜 중심에 에스테르 결합을 가지고 있는 bismaleimide(BISMI)를 합성하였다. 합성된 BISMI의 감광특성을 확인한 결과 사용된 benzil dimethyl ketal 광개시제의 농도와 자외선 조사량을 증가시킴에 따라 BISMI의 점도가 증가하는 경향을 보였다 또한 BISMI의 잔막수율의 변화와 화상형성능력 및 최소선폭을 검토하였다.

유가증권 인쇄용 금속 볼록판의 내구성 향상에 관한 연구 (Durability Improvement of Metal Convex Printing Plate for Securities Printing)

  • We produce a photosensitive convex plate to research a Nickel metal relief printing plate using galvanic process. A Method for preparing DLC convex plate that is metalized on Nickel metal relief printing plate using CVD(Chemical Vapor Deposition) process and $N_2DLC$-convex plate that is DLC metalized thin film layer of $N_2$ plasma surface treatment are comprised. DLC thin film layers on Nickel surface are fragile. The results of the research indicate that the coefficient of friction on DLC metalized thin film layer is relatively low than Nickel surface and the durability of Nickel surface coated DLC metalized thin film layer is superior to Nickel surface. A relative evaluation of three form plate wetting properties using varnish liquid-drop plate indicates superior printing aptitudes for $N_2DLC$, DLC, Nichel plate order as above.

PGMAcr 표면을 이용한 액정배향 효과 (Liquid Crystal Alignment Effect on the PGMAcr surface)

  • A photoalignment material of a PGMAcr, poly[3-(acryloyloxy)-2-hydroxypropyl methacrylate] using a photopolymerized the acrylate unit by photo-initiator and a PGMA4Ch, poly[3(4-chalconyloxy)-2-hydroxypropyl methacrylate] using a photodimerization by chalcone group were synthesized. Also, the liquid crystal (LC) aligning capabilities on the photopolymer layers were studied. A good LC alignment with UV exposure on the PGMAcr surface can be obtained. However, the LC alignment defects were observed on the PGMA4Ch surface. The LC aligning capabilities of the PGMAcr surface by photo-initiator were better than that of the PGMA4Ch surface by chalcone group as photosensitive moiety.
