One-pot hydrothermal route was adopted to synthesize Al:BiVO4, at 4 h and 8 h reaction durations, by adding 1% aluminiumoxide powder (w/v) to the precursors. The products were investigated using several characterization techniques that conform a significant morphological change and a decrease in bandgap energy of the materials upon Al modification of scheelite monoclinic bismuth vanadate matrix at both hydrothermal durations. Antibacterial experiments were performed against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in visible light condition to harness the photoxidation property of Al-doped BiVO4 and compare to that of unaltered BiVO4. Minimum inhibitory concentration of the synthesized materials was identified. The results indicate that Al-doping on BiVO4 has a significant effect on its photocatalytic antibacterial performance. Al:BiVO4 synthesized at 8 h hydrothermal treatment parades excellent sunlight-driven photocatalysis compared to the one synthesized at 4 h.
A feasibility study for the application of the photoelectrocatalytic decolorization of Rhodamine B (RhB) was performed in a photoelectrochemical reactor with immobilized $TiO_2$ particle. The effects of operating conditions, such as current, electrolyte and pH were evaluated. The experimental results showed that optimum $TiO_2$ dosage and current in the photoelectrocatalytic process were 83.3 g/l and 0.5 A, respectively. It was found that the RhB could be degraded more efficiently by this photoelectrocatalytic process than the sum of the two individual oxidation processes (photocatalytic and electrolytic process). The addition of NaCl increased the initial decolorization rate and reduced reaction time. The optimum dosage of NaCl was 0.15 g/l. The decolorization rate of the photoelectrocatalytic process increased sharply with a decrease in pH value. However when the NaCl was added, the pH effect was not high.

Currently, hydrogen has been produced by Steam Reforming or partial oxidation reforming processes mainly from oil, coal, and natural gas and results in the production of $CO_2$. However, these are influenced greatly on the green house effect of the earth. so it is important to find the new way to produce hydrogen utilizing water without producing any environmentally harmful by-products. In our research, we use microwave water plasma and photocatalyst to improve dissociation rate of water. At low pressure plasma, electron have high energy but density is low, so temperature of reactor is low. This may cause of recombination in the generated hydrogen and oxygen from splitting water. If it want to high dissociation rate of water, it is necessary to control of recombination of the hydrogen and oxygen using photocatalyst. We utilize the photocatalytic material($TiO_2$, ZnO) coated plasma reactor to use UV in the plasma. The quantity of hydrogen generated was measured by a Residual Gas Analyzer.
Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are widely used in both industrial and domestic activities. VOCs are one of the most unpleasant, frequently complaint-rousing factors of pollution around the world. It is now necessary to research and develop an alternative technology that could overcome the problems of the existing odor-control and VOC-eliminating techniques. In this study, essential oil and photocatalytic process was applied in the removal of benzene and toluene, typical VOCs in petrochemistry plant. therefore, this study conducted experiments on the selection of appropriate essential oil, photodegradation, hydroxyl radical generation capacity. The removal efficiency and reaction rate were performed to selecte the type and concentration of essential oil. As a result, removal efficiency of Hinoki Cypress oil was approximately 70% and reaction rate of Hinoki Cypress was high. The results of photolysis experiment, photocatalytic oxidation process showed that the decomposition efficiency of VOCs increased considerably with increasing UV lamp power. In addition, the conversion of VOCs was increased up to $0.1gL^{-1}$ photocatalysts. The hydroxyl radicals measure was performed to determine the ability to generate hydroxyl radicals. The analytical result showed that high $TiO_2$ concentration and lamp power was produced many hydroxyl radical. Experiments of the removal efficiency and reaction rate were performed using essential oil and photooxidation. As a result, the removal efficiency showed that the removal efficiency was increased high temperature and reaction time. The activation energy was calculated from the reaction rate equation at various temperature condition. Activation energy was approximately $18kJmol^{-1}$.
In this study, highly ordered AAO (Anodic Aluminum Oxide) with nanopores was prepared by commercial grade Al substrate containing 3.5 wt.% impurities through two step anodizing method. Nanopores of prepared AAO arrays were used as templates for preparing nanofiber. $TiO_2$ was deposited by using DP (deposition-precipitation) method into AAO pores to grow nanofiber. Au particles were loaded on this $TiO_2$ nanofiber which was grown vertically. Prepared 2 wt.% $Au/TiO_2$ nanofiber was characterized by XRD, SEM and Raman. The crystal structure was analyzed by the XRD. SEM was used to observe pore size and pore wall thickness. Photocatalytic activity of co-oxidation was compared with $TiO_2$ and $Au/TiO_2$ nanofiber on AAO arrays.
Removal of $NO_x$ on $CaO/TiO_2$ photocatalyst manufactured by the addition of $Ca(OH)_2$ was measured in relation with the amount of $Ca(OH)_2$ and calcination temperature. In case of pure $TiO_2$, the $NO_x$ removal decreased greatly with the increase of calcination temperature from $500^{\circ}C\;to\;700^{\circ}C$, whereas in the photocatalyst added with $Ca(OH)_2$, the removed amount of $NO_x$ was high and constant regardless of calcination temperature. Considering $NO_x$ removal patterns depending on the amount of $Ca(OH)_2$ added(50, 30, 10wt%), high removal rate showed at the photocatalysts containing less than 30wt% of $Ca(OH)_2$, and it was about 30% higher than that of pure $TiO_2$. From the XRD patterns, it is seen that the addition of $Ca(OH)_2$ contributes to maintaining the anatase structure that is favourable to photocatalysis. It also indicates that the possibility of the formation of calcium titanate($CaTiO_3$) by reacting with $TiO_2$ above $700^{\circ}C$. Apart from the favourable crystalline structure, the addition of $Ca(OH)_2$ helped increase the alkalinity of photocatalyst surface, thus promoting the photooxidation reaction of $NO_x$.

The photocatalytic activity of TiO$_2$ was investigated as a function of added amount of Nb$_2$O$_{5}$, heat treatment temperature and the decomposition rate of 1 mM dichloroacetic acid(DCA). Mixed oxides of TiO$_2$ and Nb$_2$O$_{5}$ was prepared by the sol-gel process. The addition of Nb$_2$O$_{5}$ into TiO$_2$ has deleterious effect on the decomposition rate of DCA, which was decreased as the amount of Nb$_2$O$_{5}$ was increased. The excess electrons due to the doping of Nb$_2$O$_{5}$ into TiO$_2$ can promote the reduction process instead of oxidation or recombination rate with electron holes. The most efficient photocatalyst was the one heat treated at 40$0^{\circ}C$ for an hour as far as the heat treatment temperature is concerned. The lower the pH of the solution, the higher the quantum yield.tum yield.
In the present work, $WO_3$ and $WO_3-TiO_2$ were prepared by the chemical deposition method. Structural variations, surface state and elemental compositions were investigated for preparation of $WO_3-TiO_2$ sonocatalyst. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were employed for characterization of these new photocatalysts. A rhodamine B (Rh.B) solution under ultrasonic irradiation was used to determine the catalytic activity. Excellent catalytic degradation of an Rh.B solution was observed using the $WO_3-TiO_2$ composites under ultrasonic irradiation. Sonocatalytic degradation is a novel technology of treating wastewater. During the ultrasonic treatment of aqueous solutions sonoluminescence, cavitaties and "hot spot" occurred, leading to the dissociation of water molecules. In case of a $WO_3$ coupled system, a semiconductor coupled with two components has a beneficial role in improving charge separation and enhancing $TiO_2$ response to ultrasonic radiations. In case of the addition of $WO_3$ as new matter, the excited electrons from the $WO_3$ particles are quickly transferred to $TiO_2$ particle, as the conduction band of $WO_3$ is 0.74 eV which is -0.5 eV more than that of $TiO_2$. This transfer of charge should enhance the oxidation of the adsorbed organic substrate. The result shows that the photocatalytic performance of $TiO_2$ nanoparticles was improved by loading $WO_3$.

PURPOSES : This study is to suggest future development direction and application of environmental noise barriers as multi-functional soundproof wall. METHODS : Based on the literature review, case study and patent search, research and patent trend were investigated. Patent search was conducted by Patent searching tools, 'Focust'. RESULTS : As environmental noise barriers, Vegetative soundproof wall, photovoltaic soundproof wall, and air-pollution reduction soundproof wall were investigated. First of all, In Korea, Vegetative soundproof wall is being developed mostly as soundproof wall that has vegetation foundation inside, to meet the domestic condition with 23 patent applications. Second, Photovoltaic soundproof wall is being developed mainly with efficiency of photovoltaic system rather than soundproofing. And it is limited to one generation solar cell technology, although Solar cell technology is developing at a rapid pace. On the other hand, for reducing air-pollutant by soundproof wall, a variety of methods are being suggested (filtration, adsorption, and photocatalytic oxidation), and one of them, adsorption are applied for developing air pollution reduction soundproof wall in Korea. CONCLUSIONS: The above soundproof wall is not simple structure, but road facility applied fusion technique. Therefore, as one system, it is difficult to harmonize due to various considerations for design factor. However, if it's possible that a benefits of one system apply to another system, Synergy effect may be created. In the foreseeable future, soundproof wall may be considered as a road system using fusion technique rather than just functional facility. Therefore, substantial studies for applying multi-functional soundproof wall on the road are needed for the future.

Continuous input into the aquatic ecosystem and persistent structures have created concern of antibiotics, primarily due to the potential for the development of antimicrobial resistance. Degradation kinetics and mineralization of vancomycin B (VAN-B) by photocatalysis using $TiO_2$ and ZnO nanoparticles was monitored at natural pH conditions. Photocatalysis (PC) efficiency was followed by means of UV absorbance, total organic carbon (TOC), and HPLC results to better monitor degradation of VAN-B itself. Experiments were run for two initial VAN-B concentrations ($20-50mgL^{-1}$) and using two catalysts $TiO_2$ and ZnO at different concentrations (0.1 and $0.5gL^{-1}$) in a multi-lamp batch reactor system (200 mL water volume). Furthermore, a set of toxicity tests with Daphnia magna was performed to evaluate the potential toxicity of oxidation by-products of VAN-B. Formation of intermediates such as chlorides and nitrates were monitored. A rapid VAN-B degradation was observed in ZnO-PC system (85% to 70% at 10 min), while total mineralization was observed to be relatively slower than $TiO_2-PC$ system (59% to 73% at 90 min). Treatment efficiency and mechanism of degradation directly affected the rate of transformation and by-products formation that gave rise to toxicity in the treated samples.
