선체 블록의 판접 위치 획득을 위한 센서 모듈 시제품 개발 (A Prototype of Sensor Module to Control the Position of Hull Block for Tack Welding)

  • Alignment of the main plates during the tack welding is essential to block assembly since most of the curved blocks and outfitting parts are assembled on the jigs and fixtures. Tact welding of main plates is the initial process of the curved hull block assembly. Due to the heavy weight of the main plates it is difficult to locate the plate on the accurate position of the jig and fixtures before welding. The conventional masonry process requires much time and manual work in order to achieve the accurate alignment. This labour-intensive process results in relatively high errors and correction works. Due to their larger dimensions and heavier weights, these hull blocks are not ergonomically desirable and, therefore, various mechanical devices such as hydraulic balancers or hydraulic jigs are used for the plate alignment. In this study, the position-sensing scheme implemented by sensors is presented in order to align the main plates on the accurate position during the hull block assembly. Integrating the Infrared photo sensors and micro processor unit, a small scaled prototype of the position-sensing module is developed to determine the alignment of main plates.

Development of Image-based Assistant Algorithm for Vehicle Positioning by Detecting Road Facilities

  • Due to recent improvements in computer processing speed and image processing technology, researches are being actively carried out to combine information from a camera with existing GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) and dead reckoning. In this study, the mathematical model based on SPR (Single Photo Resection) is derived for image-based assistant algorithm for vehicle positioning. Simulation test is performed to analyze factors affecting SPR. In addition, GNSS/on-board vehicle sensor/image based positioning algorithm is developed by combining image-based positioning algorithm with existing positioning algorithm. The performance of the integrated algorithm is evaluated by the actual driving test and landmark's position data, which is required to perform SPR, based on simulation. The precision of the horizontal position error is 1.79m in the case of the existing positioning algorithm, and that of the integrated positioning algorithm is 0.12m at the points where SPR is performed. In future research, it is necessary to develop an optimized algorithm based on the actual landmark's position data.

  • High precision machining technology has become one of the most important parts in the development of a precision machine. Such a machine requires high precision positioning as well as high speed on a large workspace. For machining systems having high precision positioning with a long stroke, it is necessary to examine the repeatability of the reference position decision. Though ball-screw driven linear stages equipped with linear scale have high precision feed drivers and a long stroke, they have some limitations for reference position decisions if they have not been equipped with an accurate home sensor. This study is performed to experimentally examine the repeatability for home position decision of a photo micro sensor as a home switch of a ball-screw driven linear stage by using a capacitance probe.

  • Thomson's jumping ring was first exhibited by Elihu Thomson in 1887 and modified to include the floating variation by John A. Fleming in 1890. This vivid demonstration of electromagnetic induction is still used in physics classrooms to illustrate Faraday's and Lenz's laws and is the basis for linear actuators for sorvo-mechanical purpose as well as induction heating and rail guns. The jumping ring apparatus of the type described in this study is used to demonstrate and educate the effects of electromagnetic induction. To verify control algorithm, a sensor system and a data control/measurement system is required. The sensor system consist of photo-interrupted and encode circuit which is designed to take voltage according to the position of ring.

  • This paper presents fabrication techniques of the optical fiber position sensor (or spindle state monitoring. These include selection of components such as optical fibers, a laser-diode, a photo-diode, and op-amp IC of the signal process circuit. We also describe electric runout problem. The fabricated sensor has a linearity of $1.7\%$ FSO in the air gap range $0.1\~0.6mm$, a resolution of $0.37{\mu}m$ and a bandwidth of 6.3kHz. Finally, we have successfully operated a magnetic bearing spindle system using the sensors.

A development of map building sensor system for mobile robot using low cost photo sensor

  • Mobile robot has various sensors for describing the external world. The ultrasonic sensor widely applied to the most mobile robot to detect the obstacle and environment owing to low cost, its easy to use. However, ultrasonic sensor has major problems: the uncertainty information of sensor, false readings caused by specular reflection, multi path effect, low angular resolution and sensitivity to changes in temperature and humidity. This paper describes a sensor system for map building of mobile robot. It was made of low cost PSD (Position Sensitive Detector) sensor array and high speed RISC MPU. PSD sensor is cost effective and light weighting but its output signal has many noises. We propose heuristic S/W filter to effectively remove these noises. The developed map building sensor system was equipped on a mobile robot and was compared with ultrasonic sensor through field test.

  • The purpose of this study is to develope a computer mouse using the head movements and eye blink in order to help the disability persons who can't move the hands or foot because of car accident or cerebral apoplexy. The mouse is composed of two gyro-sensors and photo sensor. The gryo-sensors detect the head horizontal and vertical angular velocities, respectively. The photo sensor detect the eye blink to perform click, double click, and to reset the head position. In the results, we could control the mouse points in real time using the proposed system.

  • In this paper, automatic sunvisor system is introduced for driver's safety and convenience. This system has the mechanism which keeps the sun off without obstruction of driver's sight. The mechanism can make the sunvisor move forward or rotate left while remaining inside inner roof. The control system consists of a CPU, a motor driver, light sensors, and the algorithm that can control the movement of sunvisor efficiently. When the light sensors take the sun light, they give the signal to the CPU and the CPU calculates the best position of the sunvisor with the information of driver's eyes height. Then, the CPU gives the signal to motors that can move the sunvisor.

  • To improve the performance of a flexible robot arm one of the important things is the vibration displacement measurement of a flexible arm. Many types of sensors have been used to measure it, The most popular has been strain gauges which measures the deflection of the beam,. Photo sensors have also been for detecting beam displacement and accelerometers are often used to measure the beam vibration. But the vibration displacement can be obtained indirectly from these sensors. In this article a vision sensor is used as a displacement sensor to measure the vibration displacement of a flexible robot arm. Several schemes are proposed to reduce the image processing time and increase its accuracy. From the experimental results it is seen that the vision sensor can be an alternative sensor for measuring the vibration displacement and has a potential for on-line tip position control of flexible robot systems.

  • 수액을 장시간 환자에게 주입할 때 적절한 주입량, 주입률을 조절하는 것이 중요하다. 부적절한 주입량은 환자의 회복에 좋지 않은 영향을 끼칠 수 있으므로 주입량을 감지하는 센서의 신뢰도는 인퓨전 펌프 시스템에 많은 영향을 미친다. 본 연구에서는 인퓨전 펌프 시스템에 사용될 3가지 센서의 성능을 검토하였다. 피에조 필름, 광트렌지스터 및 광 다이오드 어레이의 3가지 센서가 비교되었으며 제안하는 신호 처리 기법과 광 다이오드 어레이를 사용한 기법을 이용하여 간섭과 진동 조도변화 센서의 위치에 따른 감도 변화등의 영향을 줄일 수 있었다. 실험 결과 광 다이오드 어레이가 다른 센서들에 비하여 높은 신지도를 보여 주었다.
