Variation of Transient-response in Open-ended Microstrip Lines with Optically-controlled Microwave Pulses

  • In this paper we develop a method to observe faults in semiconductor devices and transmission lines by calculating the variation of the reflection function in a dielectric microstrip line that has an open-ended termination containing an optically induced plasma region. It is analyzed with the assumption that the plasma is distributed homogeneously in laser illumination. With the non linear material of degradation, the concentration of the carrier in the part of the material has changed. Since the input wave has produced the phenomenon of reflection, the input signal to the open-ended microstrip lines can be observed on reflection to identify the location of the fault. The characteristic impedances resulting from the presence of plasma are evaluated by the transmission line model. The variation of the reflection wave in the microwave system has been calculated by using an equivalent circuit model. The transient response has been also evaluated theoretically for changing the phase of the variation in the reflection. The variation of characteristic response in differentially localized has been also evaluated analytically.

Effect of Mixture Ratio Variation near Chamber Wall in Liquid Rocket Engine

  • An experimental research program is being undertaken to develop a regeneratively-cooled experimental thrust chamber of liquid rocket engine using liquefied natural gas and liquid oxygen as propellants. Prior to firing test using a regenerative cooling with liquefied natural gas in this program, several firing tests were conducted with water as a coolant. Experimental thrust chambers with a thrust of about 10tf were developed and their firing test facility was built up. Injector used in the thrust chamber was of shear-coaxial type appropriate for propellants of gas and liquid phase and cooling channels are of milled rectangular configuration. Periodical variation of the soot deposition and discoloration was observed through an eyes' inspection on the inner wall of a combustion chamber and a nozzle after each firing test, and an intuitive concept of the periodical variation of mixture ratio near the inner wall of a combustion chamber and a nozzle at once was brought about and analyzed quantitatively. Thermal heat flux to the coolant was calculated and modified with the periodical variation model of mixture ratio, and the increment of coolant temperature at cooling channels was compared with measured one.

ARGOS 위성 자료를 이용한 남인도양 케르겔른섬의 해수면 조사 (Sea level observations at Kerguelen island in the South Indian Ocean by ARGOS satellite data)

  • We observed sea level variation of the long time at Kerguelen island in the South Indian Ocean with ARGOS data and meteorological data during about 1 year(May 1993~March 1994) through using filter, spectral analysis, coherency and phase, and found characteristics for the two oceanic signal levels(detided oceanic signal level, h$_{detided}$ and seasonal oceanic level, h$_{corr.ib}$). The forms of variations are very well agreed to between ARGOS data and meteorological data for atmospheric pressure in the observed periods. The seasonal difference of sea level between Summer and Winter is about 1.6cm. Both the detided oceanic signal level(h$_{detided}$) variation and the inverted barometer level(h$_{ib}$) variation have a strong correlation for T>1day period bands. Characteristics of h$_{detided}$ variation are decided not by the influence of any meteorological distributions (pressure, winds, etc), but the influence of another factors(temperature, salinity, etc.) for T>2days periods bands. h$_{corr.ib}$ plays an very important role of sea level variation of the long time term(especially T>about 180days period bands).

Effects of Phenotypic Variation on Evolutionary Dynamics

  • Phenotypic variation among clones (individuals with identical genes, i.e. isogenic individuals) has been recognized both theoretically and experimentally. We investigate the effects of phenotypic variation on evolutionary dynamics of a population. In a population, the individuals are assumed to be haploid with two genotypes : one genotype shows phenotypic variation and the other does not. We use an individual-based Moran model in which the individuals reproduce according to their fitness values and die at random. The evolutionary dynamics of an individual-based model is formulated in terms of a master equation and is approximated as the Fokker-Planck equation (FPE) and the coupled non-linear stochastic differential equations (SDEs) with multiplicative noise. We first analyze the deterministic part of the SDEs to obtain the fixed points and determine the stability of each fixed point. We find that there is a discrete phase transition in the population distribution when the probability of reproducing the fitter individual is equal to the critical value determined by the stability of the fixed points. Next, we take demographic stochasticity into account and analyze the FPE by eliminating the fast variable to reduce the coupled two-variable FPE to the single-variable FPE. We derive a quasi-stationary distribution of the reduced FPE and predict the fixation probabilities and the mean fixation times to absorbing states. We also carry out numerical simulations in the form of the Gillespie algorithm and find that the results of simulations are consistent with the analytic predictions.

  • 샘플-홀드 커패시터와 전압제어발진기 신호에 동작하는 피드포워드 루프필터를 가진 단방향 전하펌프를 가진 위상고정루프를 제안하였다. 제안된 위상고정루프는 기존의 2차 RC 필터에 비해서 저항 대신에 스위치와 작은 작은 크기의 커패시터를 사용하여 칩 크기를 줄일 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 전압제어발진기의 위상잡음에 영향을 미치는 ${\Delta}VLPF$의 변화량과, 기준신호 의사잡음에 영향을 미치는 ${\Delta}{\Delta}VLPF$의 변화량을 각각 1/5과 1/6로 줄였다. 제안된 위상고정루프는 1.8V $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS 공정을 이용하여 시뮬레이션을 통해 위상잡음 특성이 개선된 동작을 확인하였다. 향후 시뮬레이션을 바탕으로 칩을 제작하여 성능을 검정할 계획이다.

화학적 방법에 의한 가황 EPDM 고무의 탈황처리 (Devulcanization of Vulcanized EPDM Rubber by a Chemical Method)

  • 가황 EPDM(ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer) 고무를 화학적 탈황처리 방법을 통하여 가교 밀도를 감소시키고자 시도하였다. 화학적 탈황처리를 위하여 상이동 촉매(phase transfer catalyst), 알카리 금속인 sodium, triphenylphosphine 등을 탈황 조제로 사용하였으며 또한 2-butanol을 탈황반응의 반응용매로 사용한 경우에 대한 탈황처리 효과도 아울러 조사하였다. 4급 암모니움염 형태의 상이동 촉매를 탈황반응에 이용할 경우 촉매의 분자량에 따른 변화 그리고 bromide(Br) 음이온 대비 chloride(Cl)음이온 사용에 따른 변화 등을 비교하였다. Sodium(Na)을 탈황반응에 투여할 경우 Na의 사용량, 반응온도, 반응시간 그리고 반응 분위기로 이용된 수소가스의 압력 등 반응변수에 따른 탈황효과를 살펴보았다. 가교밀도를 정량적으로 나타내는 수치인 $M_c$값(가교점 사이의 수평균 분자량)을 평형팽윤법을 이용하여 실험적으로 결정하였고 가황 EPDM 고무시료의 탈황효과 분석은 탈황 전과 탈황 후 시료에 대한 $M_c$ 값을 비교함으로써 수행되었다.

PE/$N_2O$ 하이브리드 로켓에서의 산화제 상 변화에 따른 연소특성 연구 (A Study on Combustion Characteristic with the Variation of Oxidizer phase in Hybrid Rocket Motor using PE/$N_2O$)

  • 본 연구에서는 하이브리드 추진 연소에서 산화제의 상(Phase)에 따른 연소특성 변화를 연구하였다. 산화제는 $GN_2O$$LN_2O$를 사용하고 고체연료는 HDPE(High Density PolyEthlene)를 적용하여 연소실험을 수행하였고, 상에 따른 고체연료의 후퇴율과 압력선도, 연소효율의 변화 등을 조사하였다. $LN_2O$를 적용할 경우 액체 산화제의 기화에 필요한 잠열이 화염에서 발생되는 연소에너지에 비해 무시할 정도로 작아 $GN_2O$를 산화제로 사용했을 때의 고체연료 후퇴율과는 큰 차이가 없었지만, 추진 성능효율이 낮아짐을 확인하였고, 액체 산화제의 유량이 증가할수록 산화제의 기화에 필요한 열전달 증가로 인 해 연소 불안정성이 커짐을 확인하였다.

$n$-Dodecanol 용액에서 저밀도폴리에틸렌 마이크로 입자 결정화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Crystallization of Low Density Polyethylene Microparticles in $n$-Dodecanol Solution)

  • In this study, we are crystallized to the low density polyethylene (LDPE) micro-particles in $n$-dodecanol solution by thermally induced phase separation(TIPS) method. The Low density polyethylene micro-particles is used in a wide variety of polymer coatings and industrial application. The utility of that for a particular application depends on a number of factors such as the particle size and distribution, and chemical composition of the materials. However, there are still needs for new methods of preparation which will provide the structure with unique sizes. The widely used processes for micro-size particles are crystallization method and thermally induced phase separation. TIPS process based on the phase separation mechanism was performed for the LDPE system which undergoes liquid-solid phase separation. Effects of various operating parameters were examined on the structure variation of the particles. Professionality, take-up speed and crystallization rate depended on temperature and concentration of polymer in solution.

  • 현재 산업용, 가정용 전동기의 수요는 급증하고 있다. 이는 스위칭 소자와 제어기술의 현저한 진보가 있었기 때문이며 이중 BLDC 전동기의 사용이 증가하고 있다. 그러나 일반적으로 사용되고 있는 3상 BLDC 전동기 맥동토크가 크고 속도변화에 민감하며 높은 속도에 적용하는데 한계가 있다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해서는 전동기의 상과 극수, 슬롯수를 증가시켜야만 한다. 그래서 현재 다상 BLDC 전동기의 연구가 진행중에 있다. 하지만 다상 BLDC에서는 높은 스위칭 주파수로 인해서 일반적으로 쓰고 있는 히스테리시스 전류제어기를 제안하였고 7상 BLDC 전동기에 적용하여 시뮬레이션과 실험을 통해서 타당성을 입증하였다.

능동형 위상보정을 이용한 정밀 속도리플 제어기의 개발 (The Development of Velocity Ripple Controller Using Active Phase Compensation)

  • Velocity ripple in manufacturing processes reduces productivity and limits the precision of the product. In practice, the frequency and phase of velocity ripples always change minutely, which makes it impossible to compensate for the ripple by simply inserting an opposite feed-forward signal in the system. In this study, an active-phase compensation algorithm was developed to enable the velocity-ripple controller to track the phase change of the ripples in real time. The proposed controller can compensate for the velocity ripple whatever its cause, including disturbance by the torque ripple. The algorithm consists of three functional modules: the velocity-ripple extractor, the synchronized integrator, and the phase shifter. Experimental results showed that the proposed controller clearly reduces velocity ripples with phase variation.
