A Signal Receiving system to collect and analyze RF signals should be verified under simulated RF signal environment prior to verification on operation in fields and tested by using simulated RF signals in order to estimate its electrical performance. Generally, typical Signal Receiving system can measure, analyze frequency, pulse modulation, scan modulation, phase modulation on pulse, frequency modulation on pulse etc on RF signals. These RF signals should be generated from simulated RF sources in laboratory. Also the simultaneous RF signals should be simulated on laboratory. This paper describes the results of studying effective simulated RF signal source generation, the methods of the precise RF test signal generation in consideration of operational scenario.
In this paper, various modulation techniques, including the legacy Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signal modulation techniques, are introduced and the spectral characteristics and correlation characteristics of signals with various modulation techniques are analyzed based on numerical simulation. With the development of various GNSS services, the limited frequency band has become increasingly saturated, and issues of interoperability and compatibility have emerged in the new GNSS design. Since the efficient allocation of frequency resources is closely related to spectrum design, modulation techniques are one of the important signal design parameters of new signal design. Signal modulation techniques are closely related to various figure of merits (FoMs) as well as spectrum characteristic, and in some cases there is a complicated trade-off between FoMs. Thus, the FoMs associated with modulation technology should be analyzed and the best signal candidates should be chosen carefully via the trade-off analysis for FoMs. In this paper, we define the modulation technique based on Phase Shift Keying (PSK), Binary Offset Carrier (BOC) and Continuous Phase Modulation (CPM) for the design of KPS signals, and the FoMs of signals in terms of spectrum and correlation function are evaluated. Signals with various modulation techniques are implemented through a numerical simulation, and the relevant FoMs are analyzed.

In this paper, we investigated the degree of compensation for distorted optical pulse of wavelength division multiplexed(WDM) channel with initial frequency chirp generated in optical transmitter. The WDM channel signal distortion is due to chromatic dispersion, self phase modulation(SPM) and cross phase modulation(XPM) in fiber. The considered system is 3 ${\times}$ 40 Gbps intensity modulation direct detection(IM/DD) WDM transmission systems, which adopted mid-span spectral inversion(MSSI) as compensation method. We confirmed that the effect of initial frequency chirp on compensation for signal distortion due to a SPM is gradually decreased as a dispersion coefficient of fiber becomes gradually small. But, in the aspect of a compensation for signal distortion due to both SPM and XPM, the effect of initial frequency chirp on compensation is gradually decreased as a dispersion coefficient of fiber becomes gradually large.
Frequency-multiplication technology based on microwave photonic principles can be used to generate microwave and millimeter wave signals with a wide frequency tuning range. However, the existing cascaded external modulation frequency-tupling scheme needs to ensure the phase coherence of the modulated Radio Frequency (RF) signal, while the phase modulation directly limits the frequency tuning range of the external modulation frequency multiplication. In this paper, a novel approach for generating an incoherent frequency 12-tupling signal with cascade modulation is proposed. The structure of cascaded dual-parallel Mach-Zehnder modulators can generate a frequency 12-tupling signal. The proposed structure uses no filter or phase control of the RF driving signal. Microwave photonic frequency-tupling was realized under incoherent conditions. Software simulations and experiments validated the proposed structure and proved that it can generate frequency 12-tupling microwave signals under incoherent conditions. Both the frequency range and reliability of the frequency-tupling system has been improved by the proposed structure.

In satellite communication, modulated beacon signal is spreaded by gold sequence and the modulated beacon is transmitted via linear phase modulation. Due to the difference in characteristics of the satellite and the receiver on the ground, frequency offset (FO) occurs. An existing modulated beacon receiver is a method of synchronizing the frequency of a modulated beacon signal using FFT(Fast Fourier Transform), which not only increases the delay and complexity in terms of system implementation but also has a separate circuit for compensating the phase difference due to FO and phase offset from FFT points. In order to overcome this problem, this paper proposes and analyzes a scheme for compensating and demodulating the coarse FO and phase offset at one time using the 2-phase shaped characteristics of the modulated beacon signal. Also, through the simulation, the modulation index suitable for the proposed method is analyzed and the appropriate cumulative number is also analyzed.
This article presents a novel cooperative spectrum sharing (CSS) scheme. The primary transmitter transmits a complex Quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) signal in the first phase, and CSS occurs in the second phase. The secondary transmitter with the largest forwarding channel gain among the nodes that successfully decode the primary signal in the first phase is selected for CSS. This selected node employs a pulse-amplitude modulation (PAM) signal for primary information message (IM) instead of the QAM signal, and it employs a modified PAM signal for the secondary IM. The proposed modified PAM signal depends on the amplitude of the primary PAM signal. This method results in no mutual interference and negligible primary interference constraint and allows a higher degree of exploitation of spatial diversity, thus enabling increase in secondary power to improve primary transmission. The outage performance is enhanced in both the primary and secondary systems. The critical region, in which the primary outage performance is enhanced with the proposed CSS scheme, can be adjusted and widened by varying either the modulation cooperation sharing factor or the number of secondary transmitters.

The automatic modulation recognition of a radio signal is a major task of an intelligent receiver, with various civilian and military applications. In this paper, we propose a method to recognize the modulation of radio signals in wireless communication based on the deep neural network. We classify the modulation pattern of radio signal by using the LSTM model, which can catch the long-term pattern for the sequential data as the input data of the deep neural network. The amplitude and phase of the modulated signal, the in-phase carrier, and the quadrature-phase carrier are used as input data in the LSTM model. In order to verify the performance of the proposed learning method, we use a large dataset for training and test, including the ten types of modulation signal under various signal-to-noise ratios.

Based on the simulation model for phase noise effect, the phase noise performance of communication system using the M-ary APSK modulation method is analyzed in this paper. The phase noise effects for APSK higher order modulation method are modeled by considering the signal constellations of the modulation methods. The simulation model is verified by comparing the analytic results for lower order modulation signals with simulated results for those modulation signals. Based on the simulation model, then, the phase noise effects for M-ary APSK are analyzed. The simulated results for PSK lower order modulation signals are in agreement with the results by the analytic model in the order of 1 %. The proper phase noise effects for M-ary APSK modulation signals are deduced by the simulation model. Also, the required signal-to-noise ratios of phase noise are proposed for phase noise degradations, which are used as the design parameter that considers the phase noise effect.
The amplitude error of phase modulator used in closed-loop fiber optic gyroscope has occurred by the temperature dependency of the electro-optic coefficient, and also can be due to the square-wave dither signal which is generally applied for eliminating the deadzone. This error can cause bias drift and scale factor error. This paper analyzes the temperature dependency of the modulation amplitude and the relationship with the scale factor of the gyroscope, and deals with an amplitude control method. The error calculation logic considering the dither signal is implemented on the signal processing module. The result of experiments from a prototype gyroscope shows the effect of the modulation amplitude control and a considerable improvement on performances.

This paper has done a hardware-based approach to increase the modulation index in 3-phase inverters, unlike the conventional software algorithm-based approaches. The minimum required time to measure the currents in a three-phase inverters with shunt resistors has also been analyzed. By the analysis, the longest time in minimum required time is AD conversion time. To shorten the minimum required time, this paper proposed a sample-and-hold(S/H) circuit implemented at the inverter current signal output to retain the current signal. When the linear operation region of an inverter with S/H was compared with that without it, the modulation index was increased by 7.8 %. Inverters with S/H circuits can employ the traditional software algorithms, such as the voltage injection method or current restoration method, and it will yield further increase the modulation index.
