퍼베이시브 로밍 서비스를 위한 보안 관리 프레임워크 (A Study of Pervasive Roaming Services with Security Management Framework)

  • 유비쿼터스 및 자동화된 컴퓨팅 환경은 개방적이고 동적이어야 하며, 끊김 없는(seamless)소프트웨어와 시스템 구조의 연동을 통한 일반적인 무선 접근으로 사용자에게 다가가는 퍼베이시브 서비스를 제공해야한다. 하지만 다양한 네트워크에서 모든 이동 기기들 간에 미리 정의된 보안 인증을 포함한 로밍 서비스를 제동하기는 매우 복잡하고 어렵다. 더욱이 퍼베이시브서비스 환경에서 끊김 없는 통신 서비스를 제공하기 위해, 다양한 무선 사업자간에 로밍 협정을 세팅하거나 스마트카드 기반의 효율적인 사용자 프로파일 모델링 연구나 다양한 종류의 사용자 인터페이스를 이용하여 자동화된 사용자 인증 시스템을 위한 보안 방안에 관한 연구는 많지 않다. 사용자에게 다가가는 네트워크 도메인 간의 퍼베이시브 보안 서비스를 포함한 상호 로밍이 가능한 로밍 코디네이터 기반의 보안 관리 프레임워크를 제안한다. USIM(Universal Subscriber Identity Module Card)을 이용한 상용 이동 통신은 하나의 서비스 도메인에서만 가능하지만 본 논문에서 제안한 로밍 코디네이터(Roaming Coordinator)는 PWLAN(Public Wireless Local Area Network)이나 3G 이동통신 그리고 WMAN(Wireless Metropolitan Area Network) 등의 다른 네트워크 도메인에서의 보안 서비스를 보다 안전하고 쉽게 제공할 수 있다.

  • Pervasive 컴퓨팅은 다양한 분야에서 다양한 방향으로 연구가 진행 중에 있다. 제안된 모델 중에 CMU에서 제안한 위탁형 컴퓨팅 모델은 앞으로의 연구에 대한 한 방향을 제시하고 있다. 이 모델은 사용자가 요청하는 작업을 휴대하는 컴퓨터에서 처리하는 것이 아니라 주위에 뛰어난 성능을 가진 컴퓨터에게 작업을 위탁하는 방법이다. 이 방법은 기존 단말에서 작업을 처리하는 것에 비해 뛰어난 성능을 보이지만 위탁 컴퓨터에 의한 공격에 취약한 단점을 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 단점을 보완하기 위해서 Virtual Private Computing이라고 하는 개념을 제안 한다.

편재형 컴퓨팅을 위한 미세구조 에너지 하베스팅 시스템의 구조 설계 (Design of Micro-structured Small Scale Energy Harvesting System for Pervasive Computing Applications)

  • In this paper, we designed micro-structured electromagnetic transducers for energy harvesting and verified the performance of proposed transducers using finite element analysis software, COMSOL Multiphysics. To achieve higher energy transduce efficiency, around the magnetic core material, three-dimensional micro-coil structures with high number of turns are fabricated using semiconductor fabrication process technologies. To find relations between device size and energy transduce efficiency, generated electrical power values of seven different sizes of transducers ($3{\times}3\;mm^2$, $6{\times}6\;mm^2$, $9{\times}9\;mm^2$, $12{\times}12\;mm^2$, $15{\times}15\;mm^2$, $18{\times}18\;mm^2$, and $21{\times}21\;mm^2$) are analyzed on various magnetic flux density environment ranging from 0.84 T to 1.54 T and it showed that size of $15{\times}15\;mm^2$ device can generate $991.5\;{\mu}W$ at the 8 Hz of environmental kinetic energy. Compare to other electromagnetic energy harvesters, proposed system showed competitive performance in terms of power generation, operation bandwidth and size. Since proposed system can generate electric power at very low frequency of kinetic energy from typical life environment including walking and body movement, it is expected that proposed system can be effectively applied to various pervasive computing applications including power source of embodied medical equipment, power source of RFID sensors and etc. as an secondary power sources.

업무유형에 따른 유비쿼터스 오피스 계획 방향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Direction of Ubiquitous Office with a Focus on Work Services)

  • Information technology has changed the human life as well as the societal and economic paradigm. New office environments have been proposed to cope with emerging changes and to support working performances by reducing costs of office operation and business. Recently, office environments have adopted ubiquitous computing with a focus on collaboration to promote real-time enterprises. They become equipped with various mobile devices and pervasive technologies in wireless networks. This study aims to propose a direction for the adoption of mobile and pervasive computing on the new office environment. We investigate relate works and analyze new office types including mobile offices, telework centers and home offices. Using a customized questionnaire, the current conditions of the office environments and officers' demands were investigated and analyzed. In the end, we propose the direction for a ubiquitous office environment with a focus on two attributes, ubiquity and mobility. This research will be a basis for the development of ubiquitous offices that support the professionalism of works in practices.

ARCHITECTURAL ANALYSIS OF CONTEXT-AWARE SYSTEMS IN PERVASIVE COMPUTING ENVIRONMENT

  • Context aware systems are those systems that are aware about the environment and perform productive functions automatically by reducing human computer interactions(HCI). In this paper, we present common architecture principles of context-aware systems to explain the important aspects of context aware systems. Our study focuses on identifying common concepts in pervasive computing approaches, which allows us to devise common architecture principles that may be shared by many systems. The principles consists of context sensing, context modeling, context reasoning, context processing, communication modelling and resource discovery. Such an architecture style can support high degree of reusability among systems and allows for design flexibility, extensibility and adaptability among components that are independent of each other. We also propose a new architecture based on broker-centric middleware and using ontology reasoning mechanism together with an effective behavior based context agent that would be suitable for the design of context-aware architectures in future systems. We have evaluated the proposed architecture based on the design principles and have done an analyses on the different elements in context aware computing based on the presented system.

  • Pervasive computing is characterized by a key characteristic that affects the operating environment of services and users. It places more emphasis on dynamic environments where available resources continuously vary without prior knowledge of their availability, while in static environments the services provided to users are determined in advance. At the same time, Cloud computing paradigm introduced flexibility of use according to the user's profile and needs. In this paper, we aimed to provide Context-Aware Transactional Service applications with solutions so that it can be integrated and invoked like any service in the digital ecosystem. Being able to compose is not enough, each service and application must be able to offer a well-defined behavior. This behavior must be controlled to meet the dynamicity and adaptability necessary for the new user's requirements. The motivation in this paper is to offer design patterns that will provide a maximum of automatism in order to guarantee short reaction times and minimal human intervention. Our proposal includes a cloud service model by developing a PaaS service that allows CATS adaptation. A new specification for the validation of CATS model has been also introduced using the ACTA formalism.

편재형 컴퓨팅 환경에서 XHTML과 VoiceXML간 EXI 문서의 변환시스템 설계와 구현 (Design and Implementation of a XHTML to VoiceXML Converter based on EXI in Pervasive Environments)

  • 편재형 컴퓨팅 환경은 다양한 컴퓨팅 장비의 접속만큼이나 그 응용분야도 다양하다. 이러한 컴퓨팅환경에서 XML은 최적의 데이터 표현이다. W3C 표준인 XML은 XSLT를 이용하여 다른 응용분야에 적절한 데이터 변환이 가능하다. 그러나 XML은 텍스트 기반으로 이진데이터 저장방식에 비해 파일의 크기가 커서 컴퓨팅 파워가 적은 편재형 컴퓨팅 환경에서는 다루기가 어렵다는 단점을 갖고 있다. 본 논문에서는 XML문서의 인코딩 방법에 대하여 살펴보고 자원을 적게 사용하는 편재형 컴퓨팅 환경에서 인코딩 된 EXI 포맷의 XML문서가 다른 응용의 적합한 EXI 포맷 XML 문서으로의 변환방법을 제안한다. 다양한 응용환경 중에서 본 논문에서는 EXI 포맷의 XHTML 문서를 EXI 포맷 VoiceXML로 변환하는 시스템을 제시한다. 이 시스템은 자원이 적은 편재형 컴퓨팅 환경에서 EXI 포맷 XML 문서의 재사용성을 높이고 EXI 포맷의 XML활용에 기여할 수 있다.

  • 21세기를 들어서면서 본격적으로 차세대 IT패러다임으로 등장한 유비쿼터스(Ubiquitous) 분야는 정보기술의 패러다임이 PC와 인터넷 중심에서 유비쿼터스로 이동하면서 미래 유비쿼터스 시장을 선점하기 위한 세계 주요국가와 IT기업들이 치열한 전쟁터로 인식되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 유비쿼터스 디바이스에 관련된 국내외 기술 및 연구동향을 알아보고, 유비 쿼터스 사회의 진화에 따른 미래효과와 그에 따른 연구방향 등을 살펴보도록 한다.

An Optimal Power-Throughput Tradeoff Study for MIMO Fading Ad-Hoc Networks

  • In this paper, we study optimal tradeoffs of achievable throughput versus consumed power in wireless ad-hoc networks formed by a collection of multiple antenna nodes. Relying on adaptive modulation and/or dynamic channel coding rate allocation techniques for multiple antenna systems, we examine the maximization of throughput under power constraints as well as the minimization of transmission power under throughput constraints. In our examination, we also consider the impacts of enforcing quality of service requirements expressed in the form of channel coding block loss constraints. In order to properly model temporally correlated loss observed in fading wireless channels, we propose the use of finite-state Markov chains. Details of fading statistics of signal-to-interference-noise ratio, an important indicator of transmission quality, are presented. Further, we objectively inspect complexity versus accuracy tradeoff of solving our proposed optimization problems at a global as oppose to a local topology level. Our numerical simulations profile and compare the performance of a variety of scenarios for a number of sample network topologies.

초음파 무선 센서노드를 이용한 실시간 위치 추적 시스템 (Real-time Location Tracking System Using Ultrasonic Wireless Sensor Nodes)

  • Location information will become increasingly important for future Pervasive Computing applications. Location tracking system of a moving device can be classified into two types of architectures: an active mobile architecture and a passive mobile architecture. In the former, a mobile device actively transmits signals for estimating distances to listeners. In the latter, a mobile device listens signals from beacons passively. Although the passive architecture such as Cricket location system is inexpensive, easy to set up, and safe, it is less precise than the active one. In this paper, we present a passive location system using Cricket Mote sensors which use RF and ultrasonic signals to estimate distances. In order to improve accuracy of the passive system, the transmission speed of ultrasound was compensated according to air temperature at the moment. Upper and lower bounds of a distance estimation were set up through measuring minimum and maximum distances that ultrasonic signal can reach to. Distance estimations beyond the upper and the lower bounds were filtered off as errors in our scheme. With collecting distance estimation data at various locations and comparing each distance estimation with real distance respectively, we proposed an equation to compensate the deviation at each point. Equations for proposed algorithm were derived to calculate relative coordinates of a moving device. At indoor and outdoor tests, average location error and average location tracking period were 3.5 cm and 0.5 second, respectively, which outperformed Cricket location system of MIT.
