Purpose: This study aimed to determine the interaction among the neck, trunk, and lower extremities on the non-paretic side in head rotation along with non-paretic-side weight shifting of stroke patients. To compare stroke patients' ability to control posture through muscle activity variation related to pertubation during head rotation along with the non-paretic limb. Methods: We tested 15 hemiplegic patients and 15 normal individuals. Each group's muscle activity was measured by electromyography in neutral head position and head rotation position. We compared each group's resu lt based on measured values in patients' non-paretic neck muscles, trunk muscles, and lower limbs muscles activation. Results: The study showed that muscle activity increased in the sternocleidomastoid muscle (102.26%, 53.00%), splenius capitis muscle (97.93%, 54.93%), erector spinae muscle (241.00%, 127.60%), external oblique abdominal muscle (256.66%, 152.00%), and internal oblique abdominal muscle (252.80%, 152.6%), peroneus longus muscle (117.53%, 137.13%) and gastrocnemius muscle (119.06%, 137.20%), while the results for the sternocleidomastoid muscle, splenius capitis muscle, erector spinae muscle, external oblique abdominal muscle, internal oblique abdominal muscle, peroneus longus muscle, and gastrocnemius muscle showed a statistically significant difference (p<0.05). Conclusion: It is hard for stroke patients to engage in normal movement control under suggested conditions because of the insufficient movement against gravity on the stroke patient's non-paretic side and impaired cooperative patterns. To solve these problems, patients need their bodies to improve through effective movement, resulting in advanced control of their effective and functional activity.

Background and Objectives : Accent method is one of holistic approaches for behavior readjustment of voice therapy The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of the accent method of voice therapy for the patients who have no improvement after LMS. Materials and Methods : Of the patients who had been undergone LMS during the period from Jan. 1999 to Dec. 1999, medical records of 38 patients who had not been improved were studied retrospectively. 19 patients(treatment group) were applied accent method and the other 19 patients(control group) refused voice therapy. The voice of all the patients of both group were analysed with CSL and Aerophone II programs in pre- and post operative period. The voice of treatment group were analysed with Visi-Pitch II program before the application of accent method and after the completion of accent method. Then, the results were compared using paired t-test. Results : The results of voice analysis were not different statistically between pre- and postoperative examination in both group. After application of accent method in the treatment group, fundamental frequency(F$_{0}$) of male, relative average pertubation, and shimmer were revealed significant differences(p<0.01), and decrease in grade(G) scale and roughness(R) scale were statistically Important in perceptual analysis using GRBAS criteria(p<0.01). But $F_0$ of female, maximal phonation time and S to Z ratio were not revealed significant differences. Conclusions : Accent method of voice therapy may be as a supplement- ary therapy in the patients who were not improved after surgery.
Many theories for polymeric liquids are based on the concepts of cell, hole, free volume or lattice etc. In the theories, van der Waals potential, Lennard-Jones 6-12 potential and their modified potentials are commonly used.In this work, Mie(p, 6) potential was applied to the Continuous Lattice Fluid Theory (which extends the discrete lattices of Lattice Fluid Theory to classically continuous lattices) and Dee-Walsch's Cell Theory (which modifies Flory's Equa-tion of State Theory). Both of them are known to be successful theories for polymeric liquids. Thus, PVT values chang-ing with p (the exponent in the repulsion potential) were calculated and compared with experimental values. And, calculated values of Lattice Fluid Theory, Flory's Equation of State Theory and Cho-Sanchez Theory using pertubation method were also compared. Through the calculated results, van der Waals potential, Lennard-Jones 6-12 potential and Mie(p, 6) potential for polymeric liquids were compared with each other.

The guarantee of the fast dynamics stability is essential for successful application of singular Perturbation technique to control systems design. Even though the fast dynamics of the control systems is rendered stable by an analog controller, the fast dynamics stability of the control systems resulted from an digital implementation of the analog controller can be impaired severely. In this paper, we first investigate the time sampling effects on singular perturbation based control systems by centering on a design example of recently developed singular perturbation based STT missile autopilot with high performance. The investigation shows that the stability margin the fast dynamics of the STT misile autopilot system decreases rapidly as the sampling interval of discretizing the analog autopilot increases. Under this analysis, we propose a composite digital controller with compensation for the decreasing stability margin of the fast dynamics due to time sampling to achieve better performance with respect to sampling time. The improved performance of the proposed composite digital controller is verified by simulation. This result shows that one needs to investigate time sampling effects in the digital implementation of singular perturbation based controllder, and then can have benefit from the investigation.

In the field of marine transportation the energy saving is one of the most important factors for profit. In order to reduce the fuel oil consumption the ship's propulsion efficiency must be increased as much as possible. The propulsion efficiency depends upon a combination of an engine and a propeller. The propeller has better efficiency as lower rotational speed. This situation led the engine manufacturers to design the engine that has lower speed, longer stroke and a small number of cylinders. Consequently the variation of rotational torque became larger than before because of the longer delay-time in the fuel oil injection process and an increased output per cylinder. As this new trends the conventional mechanical-hydrualic governors for engine speed control have been replaced by digital speed controllers which adopted the PID control or the optimal control algorithm. But these control algorithms have not enough robustness to suppress the variation of the delay-time and the parameter pertubation. In this paper we consider the delay-time and the perturbation of engine parameters as the modeling uncetainties. Next we design the controller which has zero offset in steady state engine speed, based on the two-degree-of-freedom control theory and $\mu$-synthesis. Thd validity of the controller is investigated through the response simulation. We use a personal computer and an analog computer as the digital controller and the engine (plant) part respectively. And, we certify that the designed controller maintains its performance even though the engine parameters may vary.
Scattering coefficients of randomly rough lossy dielectric surfaces were computed by using the FDTD(Finite-Difference Time-Domain) method and the Monte Carlo method in this paper. The FDTD method was applied to compute electromagnetic wave scattering characteristics at any incident angles, any linear polarizations by dividing the computation region into the total-field region and the scattered-field region. The radar cross sections(RCS) of conducting cylinders have been computed and compared with theoretical results, measurement data and the results from the method of moment(MoM) to verify the FDTD algorithm. Then, to apply the algorithm to compute scattering coefficients of distributed targets, a two-dimensionally rough surface was generated numerically for given roughness characteristics. The far-zone scattered fields of 50 statistically independent dielectric rough surfaces were computed and the scattering coefficient of the surface was calculated from the scattered fields by using the Monte Carlo method. It was found that these scattering coefficients agree well with the SPM(Small Pertubation Method) model in its validity region.

Load bearing structural members in a wide variety of applications accumulate damage over their service life. During experiment much effort and cost is needed for measuring structural safety assessment. The sparseness and errors of measured data have to be considered during the safety estimation of structures. This paper introduces parameter estimation and damage identification algorithm by a system identification using static and dynamic response. The equation error estimator and response error widely used in system identification are based on the minimization of least squared error between measured and calculated responses by a mathematical model of a structure. Since each estimator has a specific form of application in noisy environment and proposes different definitions for these forms. To study the behaviour of the estimators in noisy environment Using Monte Carlo simulation, and a data measured pertubation scheme is adopted to investigate the influence of measurement errors on identification results. The assessment result by static and dynamic response were compared, and the efficiency and applicabilities of the proposed algorithm are demonstrated through simulated static and dynamic responses of a dimensional truss type structures.

(With in wafer uniformity, WIWU) 및 공정이 진행되는 시간에 따른 균일도(Wafer to wafer uniformity)의 변화 양상에 대한 파악을 통한 공정 진단에 대한 요구가 급증하고 있는 현실이다.

In this paper, miniaturized ${\lambda}/4$ folded microstrip antennas is presented for parking monitoring base station system. The proposed antenna reduced a width of the radiating element for miniaturizing a size and we changed an aperture such as folded shape for reducing a length of the antenna by the pertubation effect by reducing a width of the antenna. Finally, the ${\lambda}/2$ length of the folded microstrip antenna to ${\lambda}/4$ folded microstrip antenna was miniaturized by reducing the length. The proposed antenna was designed to receive 425 MHz of center frequency that can be used without permission. Dimensions are $134mm{\times}143.85mm{\times}20.1mm$($0.19{\lambda}{\times}0.2{\lambda}{\times}0.028{\lambda}$, ${\lambda}$ is wavelength at 425 MHz) that are compared with basic microstrip patch antenna miniaturized 97.2%. Also, Measured -10 dB bandwidth was 2.44 MHz(0.57%). On the other hand, measured radiation patterns was 1.82 dBi at E-plane $15^{\circ}$.
Background: Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) is the major catechin in green tea, and has shown antiproliferative, antiangiogenic, antimetastatic and cell cycle pertubation activity in various tumor models. Hypoxia can be induced because angiogenesis is insufficient for highly proliferating cancer. Hypoxia-inducible factor-1$\alpha$ (HIF-1$\alpha$) and its downstream target, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), are important for angiogenesis, tumor growth and metastasis. The aim of this study was to determine how hypoxia could cause changes in the cellular phenomena and microenvironment in a non-small cell culture system and to examine the effects of EGCG on a HIF-1$\alpha$ and VEGF in A549 cell line. Methods: A549 cells, a non-small cell lung cancer cell line, were cultured with DMEM and 10% fetal bovine serum. A decrease in oxygen tension was induced using a hypoxia microchamber and a $CO_2-N_2$ gas mixture. Gas analysis and a MTT assay were performed. The A549 cells were treated with EGCG (0, 12.5, 25, 50 ${\mu}mol/L$), and then examined by real-time-PCR analysis of HIF-1$\alpha$, VEGF, and $\beta$-actin mRNA. Results: Hypoxia reduced the proliferation of A549 cells from normoxic conditions. EGCG inhibited HIF-1$\alpha$ transcription in A549 cells in a dose-dependent manner. Compared to HIF-1$\alpha$, VEGF was not inhibited by EGCG. Conclusion: HIF-1$\alpha$ can be inhibited by EGCG. This suggests that targeting HIF-1$\alpha$ with a EGCG treatment may have therapeutic potential in non-small cell lung cancers.
