Purpose: The purpose of this study was to test the physical and psychological-emotional status according to type of personality of female college student smokers and to provide baseline data for smoking cessation education programs for women. Method: The data were collected from May to June. 2002. The subjects were 119 female students who smoked. The data were analyzed using SPSS/PC. Results : The results are as follows 1. There were 91 (76.5%) A type and 28 (23.5%) B Type personality types, indicating that female student smokers were more frequently type A rather than type B. 2. Perceived health status by personality type indicated that those with type B ($27.71{\pm}4.67$) perceived higher health status than those with type A ($26.53{\pm}4.60$) but the result was not statistically significant (p = 237). 3. Perceived stress by personality type indicated that those with type B ($83.71{\pm}13.13$) perceived more stress than those with type A ($70.52{\pm}12.35$). 4. Differences between depression by personality type indicated that those with type B ($47.21{\pm}8.53$) perceived more stress than those with type A ($45.42{\pm}7.32$) but this was not statistically significant (p = .277). 5. There were significant negative correlations between perceived health status and stress (r=-0.300. p<0.004), depression and perceived health status (r=-.456. p<0.000). There was significant positive correlation between stress and depression (r= .700, p<0.000). 6. There was no significant difference between perceived health status, stress, or depression according to general characteristics. Conclusion: According to the results, researchers should continually identify women's smoking behavior included various physical and psychological variables related to women's health. In addition, programs for improving physical and psychological health should be designed and operated to decrease the perception of stress and to increase the perception of health motivation for women smokers.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship and degree of agreement between the six types of Geometry Psychological Assessment (GEOPIA) and four functions of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) personality test, and to investigate the appropriate level of vocational aptitude commonly recommended by each tool. A total of 377 adult men and women from Korea, aged between 19 and 70 years, were tested using GEOPIA and the MBTI. Cronbach's alpha was calculated to verify the validity and reliability of the measuring tools, and the mean and standard deviation of each variable were calculated. Also, a cross-sectional analysis was conducted to examine the relationship between GEOPIA and the MBTI. The results showed that Round/Triangle (RT) types, Round/Box (RB) types, Triangle/Box (TB) types and Box/Curve (BC) types among the GEOPIA personality types are highly related to MBTI's Sensing/Thinking (ST) types. GEOPIA RC types were related to Intuition/Feeling (NF) and Sensing/Feeling (SF) types, and TC types were highly related to Intuition/Thinking (NT) types. Based on the common characteristics of the two tests, the findings suggest appropriate levels of vocational aptitude. Through this research, it was confirmed that GEOPIA (a Korean psychology and personality test) can be used in counseling, coaching, and education, and above all, is a reliable tool for vocational psychological assessment to search for career aptitude.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the pervasive MBTI psychological preferences of childcare teachers and to examine the effects of MBTI psychological preferences and teachers' educational beliefs on childcare teachers'self-efficacy. The participants of this study were 141 childcare teachers. An independent samples t-test, Pearson's productive correlation, and step-wise multiple regression were employed to analyze the data. The results are as follows: First, Depending on the MBTI psychological preferences trends in childcare teachers, there were differences in self-efficacy. Second, personality type Sensing(S) was positively correlated with preference for easy tasks. Personality type Thinking(T) was negatively correlated with behavioral education belief, and was positively correlated with interactional education belief, self-regulated efficacy and total score of self-efficacy. Personality type Judging(J) was positively correlated with interactional/maturational education belief and self-regulated efficacy. Third, interactional education belief and MBTI psychological preferences of childcare teachers had asignificant influence on self-efficacy.
The objective of this study is to explore the relationship between MBTI personality type and career attitude and career choice of cosmetology university students. Data were collected by self-administered questionnaires. Chi-square test and logistic regression analysis was conducted. The major findings of this study are as follows: In regard to career-related attitude, ISTJ type out of 16 MBTI is higher than other type on the positive attitude. In regard to the relationship of MBTI and career choice, ISTP, ISFP and ENFJ type is more prefer skin care than the other type. And INTP type is more prefer hair design and makeup. And also the psychological functional type and career choice, ST showed the preference on skin care, and SF preferred makeup field. Finally NT and NF psychological functional type showed the preference on hair design.
There is an urgent need to improve the tool predicting success or failure of academic achievement of nursing in Korea so as to identify as early as possible those students who should receive special instruction and to improve screening procedures for admission of nursing. The main purpose of this study is to identify the correlation between the grade point averages of courses learned and their psychological test characteristics in a baccalaureate nursing program. All 240 students, except freshmen, enrolled in Nursing Department of Seoul National University in the spring semester, 1972, participated in this study. All of the subjects completed the psychometric tests such as interest test, personality test and test of self-concept. Total grade point averages, grade point averages of general education subjects, of supporting science courses and of professional education subjects were used as performance criteria of the students. Through the calculation of product-moment correlation coefficients between the test scores and four grade point averages of each class and of total subjects, the following findings and recommendations were obtained. 1. There was so much variation in characteristics of interest test correlated with academic achievement of nursing students in each class. 2. Since the school objectives, curriculum and teaching strategies may affect predictive efficiency of characteristics of students'interest test, interest test must-be utilized in a homogeneous group in order to predict school achievement. 3. Characteristics of interest test positively correlated at significant level with total grade point averages of all subjects were scientific interest-biological, scientific interest-physical, and humanitarian interest. Scientific interest-physics: was the only characteristic positively correlated at significant level with total grade point averages and grade point averages of professional courses. 4. There were various patterns in characteristics of personality test correlated with school achievement of nursing students by class pattern and personality maturation as they progress toward higher classes. 5. A characteristic of personality test, responsibility, is in high positive correlation with academic achievement in the upper division of classes. 6. Responsibility was the sole personality factor positively correlated at significant level with total grade point averages and grade point averages of nursing courses in the total number of students. 7. There were very different correlation coefficients between characteristics of self-concept test and academic achievement according to the type of each class and type of courses they learned. 8. Characteristics of self-concept test positively correlated at significant level with total grade point averages and grade point averages of nursing courses of all students were physical self and row variability. Those who have positive concept on their own physical status and who are deficient in self-concept were higher in total grade point averages and grade point averages of professional courses than other students. 9. Scores of professional courses offered in freshmen and sophomore classes were in positive correlation with limited number of characteristics of psychological tests. In pursuit of a tool predicting successful academic achievement of nursing students, their G.P.A. during the junior and senior year of nursing will serve as the more reasonable criteria. 10. Junior students of this school were in higher positive correlation with many psychological factors than other classes.
This study is a descriptive research study conducted to provide useful preliminary data that is helpful for self-initiated learning through a preference trend-based learning method by analyzing the personality types of university students in an area. In this study, the self-administered MBTI form $M^{(R)}$ test was performed on 695 students of 10 departments at K University, from September 18 to 22, 2017, using an automatic scoring system. Collected data was analyzed with descriptive statistics and Chi-square test, using the SPSS Win 22.0 Program, to sort the target students into one of 16 different personality types and examine psychological function and temperament by their personality. Differences in personality type preference by gender were as follows: for judging function, the male students had a strong preference for the T type (thinking type) while the female students showed a high preference for the F type (feeling type), and in the case of the pattern of behavior and lifestyle, the male students and the female students had a strong preference for the P type (perceiving type) and the J type (judging type), respectively. In addition, there were significant differences for each major and each department in personality type, psychological function and temperament. In conclusion, personality type was found to vary by gender, major and department. It would be necessary to develop a manual for learning methods reflecting individual preference.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore self-directed learning ability and its affecting factors among undergraduate students. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study design was used. Using a convenience sampling method, data were collected from 196 undergraduate students enrolled in one national university. Negative psychological tendency (i.e. Type D personality), academic engagement, and self-directed learning ability were assessed using a structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, and analysis of covariance, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple linear regression, using SPSS/WIN 23.0 program. Results: The mean age of the students was $21.61{\pm}2.40years$ and 56.6% were male students. Approximately, one third (n=67, 34.2%) of the students had Type D personality. The average scores of academic engagement and self-directed learning ability were $3.01{\pm}1.14$ and $3.46{\pm}0.50$, respectively. After controlling for sociodemographic variables, the Type D personality and academic engagement were significant predictors of self-directed learning ability (${\beta}=.64$, p<.001; ${\beta}=-.13$, p=.021, respectively). This model explained 53.6% of the variance in self-directed learning ability. Conclusion: The study identified that Type D personality and academic engagement affect self-directed learning ability of undergraduate students, one in a negative way, the other in a positive way. Educators and educational policy makers need to make efforts to include interventions and strategies that increase academic engagement and change negative psychological dispositions such as D-type personality in the undergraduate education curriculum.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to construct and test a structural equation model of health behavior compliance among patients with percutaneous coronary intervention based on self-determination theory. Methods: A total of 227 participants who received follow-up care after percutaneous coronary intervention were recruited. A structured questionnaire was used to assess health providers' autonomous support, basic psychological needs, autonomous motivation, controlled motivation, type D personality, and health behavior compliance. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 21.0 program. Results: The final hypothetical model showed a good fitness with data: GFI=.94, RMSEA=.07, CFI=.96, NFI=.92, TLI=.94. The results revealed that autonomous support of health care providers, basic psychological needs, and autonomous motivation, and D-type personality accounted for 51.8% of health behavior compliance. Conclusion: The findings of this study indicate that enhanced autonomous support of health care providers is essential to promote patients' basic psychological needs and autonomous motivation. This leads to maximized compliance to the health behaviors among patients who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention. We recommend that health care institutions establish various measures to foster the special environments in which health care providers can actively provide and utilize autonomous support for their patients.
