As rechargeable metal-air batteries will be ideal energy storage devices in the future, an active cathode electrocatalyst is required with bi-functionality on both oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) during discharge and charge, respectively. Here, a class of perovskite cathode catalyst with a micro-tubular structure has been developed by controlling bi-functionality from different Ru and Ni dopant ratios. A micro-tubular structure is achieved by the activated carbon fiber (ACF) templating method, which provides uniform size and shape. At the perovskite formula of $LaCrO_3$, the dual dopant system is successfully synthesized with a perfect incorporation into the single perovskite structure. The chemical oxidation states for each Ni and Ru also confirm the partial substitution to B-site of Cr without any changes in the major perovskite structure. From the electrochemical measurements, the micro-tubular feature reveals much more efficient catalytic activity on ORR and OER, comparing to the grain catalyst with same perovskite composition. By changing the Ru and Ni ratio, the $LaCr_{0.8}Ru_{0.1}Ni_{0.1}O_3$ micro-tubular catalyst exhibits great bi-functionality, especially on ORR, with low metal loading, which is comparable to the commercial catalyst of Pt and Ir. This advanced catalytic property on the micro-tubular structure and Ru/Ni synergy effect at the perovskite material may provide a new direction for the next-generation cathode catalyst in metal-air battery system.

The photovoltaic properties and microstructure changes were observed while perovskite solar cells (PSCs) with a fabricated carbon electrode were formed using the following annealing processes: hot-plate, oven, and rapid thermal annealing (RTA). Perovskite solar cells with a glass/FTO/compact TiO2/meso TiO2/meso ZrO2/carbon structure were prepared. The photovoltaic properties and microstructure changes in the PSCs were analyzed using a solar simulator, optical microscopy, and field emission scanning electron microscopy. An analysis of the photovoltaic properties revealed outstanding properties when RTA was applied to the cells. Microstructure analysis showed that perovskite was formed locally on the carbon electrode surface when hot-plate and oven annealing were applied. On the other hand, PSC with RTA showed a flat surface without extra perovskite agglomeration. Denser perovskite formed on the porous carbon electrode layer with RTA showed superior photovoltaic properties. These results suggest that the RTA process might be appropriate for the massive production of carbon electrode PSCs considering the processing time.
Perovskite-structured samarium strontium cobaltite (SSC), which is mixed ionic electronic conductor (MIEC), is considered as a promising cathode material for intermediate temperature-operating solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) due to its high electrocatalytic property. Cathode material containing cobalt (Co) is unstable at high temperature and has a relatively high thermal expansion property. In this paper, Sm-Sr-(Co,Fe,Ni)-O system with perovskite and spinel structures was investigated in terms of electrochemical property and thermal expansion property, respectively. Area specific resistance (ASR) was measured by ac impedance spectroscopy to investigate the electrochemical property of cathode, and thermal expansion coefficient (TEC) was measured by using dilatometer. Micro structure of cathode was observed by scanning electron microscopy. Perovskite-structured $Sm_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}CoO_{3-\delta}$ showed the ASR of $0.87{\Omega}/cm^{2}$, and $Sm_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}NiO_{3-\delta}$, which actually has a spinel structure, showed the lowest TEC value of $13.3{\times}10^{-6}/K$.
The photovoltaic properties of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) with a carbon electrode fabricated using different annealing processes are investigated. Perovskite formation (50 ℃, 60 min) using a hot-plate and an oven is carried out on cells with a glass/fluorine doped TiO2/TiO2/ZrO2/carbon structure, and the photovoltaic properties of the PSCs are analyzed using a solar simulator. The microstructures of the PSCs are characterized using an optical microscope, a field emission scanning electron microscope, and an electron probe micro-analyzer (EPMA). Photovoltaic analysis shows that the energy conversion efficiency of the samples fabricated using the hot-plate and the oven processes are 2.08% and 6.90%, respectively. Based on the microstructure of the samples and the results of the EPMA, perovskite is formed locally on the carbon electrode surface as the γ-butyrolactone (GBL) solvent evaporates and moves to the top of the carbon electrode due to heat from the bottom of the sample during the hot plate process. When the oven process is used, perovskite forms evenly inside the carbon electrode, as the GBL solvent evaporates extremely slowly because heat is supplied from all directions. The importance of the even formation of perovskite inside the carbon electrode is emphasized, and the feasibility of oven annealing is confirmed for PSCs with carbon electrodes.

Deposition of PZT with UV laser ablatio was applied for realization of thin film sensors and actuators. Deposition rate of more than 20nm/min was attained by pulsed KrF excimer laser deposition, which is fairly better than those obtained by the other methods. Perovskite phase was obtained at room temperature deposition with Fast Atom Beam(FAB) treatment and annealing. Smart MEMS(Micro electro-mechanical system) is now a suject of interest in the field of micro optical devices, micro pumps, AFM cantilever devices etc. It can be fabricated by deposition of PZT thin films and micromachining. PZT films of more than 1 micron thickness is difficult to obtain by conventional methods. This is the reason why we applied excimer laser ablation for thin film deposition. The remanent polarization Pr of 700nm PZT thin film was measured, and the relative dielectric constant was determined to about 900 and the dielectric loss tangent was also measured to be about 0.04. XRD analysis shows that, after annealing at 650 degrees C in 1 hour, the perovskite structure would be formed with some amount of pyrochlore phase, as is the case of the annealing at 750 degrees C in 1 hour.

In this study, a series of $LaMnO_3$-diamond composites with varied $LaMnO_3$ mass contents supported on micro-diamond have been synthesized using a sol-gel method. The as-prepared composites were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Raman spectroscopy and the Fourier transform infrared spectra (FTIR). Meanwhile, the photocatalytic performances were also tested by photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy, ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflection spectra (UV-Vis DRS) and the degradation of weak acid red C-3GN (RC-3GN). Results show that the peak position of $LaMnO_3$ is shifted to low angle after the introduction of diamond, and perovskite particles uniformly distributed on the surface of diamond, forming a network structure, which can increase the active sites and the absorption of dye molecules. When the mass ratio of $LaMnO_3$ and diamond is 1:2 (LMO-Dia-2), the composite shows the most excellent photocatalytic activity. This result offers a sample route to enlarge the range of the application of micro-diamond and provide a new carrier for perovskite photocatalysts.

Recently, low temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) technology is widely used in sensors, actuators and microsystems fields because of its very good electrical and mechanical properties, high reliability and stability as well as possibility of making 3D micro structures. In this study, we investigated the effects of sputtering gas ratio and annealing temperature on the crystal structure of $Pb(ZrTi)O_3$ (PZT) thin films deposited on LTCC substrate. The LTCC substrate with thickness of $400\;{\mu}m$ were fabricated by laminating 4 green tapes which consist of alumina and glass particle in an organic binder. The PZT thin films were deposited on Pt / Ti / LTCC substrates by RF magnetron sputtering method. The results showed that the crystallization of the films were enhanced as increasing $O_2$ mixing ratio. At about 25% $O_2$ mixing ratio, was well crystallized in the perovskite structure. PZT thin films was annealed at various temperatures. When the annealing temperature is lower, the PZT thin films become a phyrochlore phase. However, when the annealing temperature is higher than $600^{\circ}C$, the PZT thin films become a perovskite phase. At the annealing temperature of $700^{\circ}C$, perovskite PZT thin films with good quality structure was obtained.

Micro/nano-sized L $a_{0.6}$S $r_{0.4}$Co $O_{3-}$$\delta$/ particles are considered to improve oxygen permeability in highly selective inorganic oxygen separation membrane. A L $a_{0.7}$S $r_{0.3}$G $a_{0.6}$F $e_{0.4}$$O_{3-}$$\delta$/ membrane with perovskite structure is fabricated by a conventional solid-state reaction. As the oxygen permeation flux of the L $a_{0.7}$S $r_{0.3}$G $a_{0.6}$F $e_{0.4}$$O_{3-}$$\delta$/ membrane was lower than commercial gas separation membranes, we coated the L $a_{0.6}$S $r_{0.4}$Co $O_{3-}$$\delta$/ particles to enhance the oxygen permeation flux. It has been demonstrated that the effective area of reactive free surface is an important factor in determining the effectiveness of the introduction of coating layer for oxygen permeation. The introduction of micro/nano L $a_{0.6}$S $r_{0.4}$Co $O_{3-}$$\delta$/ particles was very effective for increasing oxygen flux, as the flux was as much as 2 to 6 times higher than that of an uncoated L $a_{0.7}$S $r_{0.3}$G $a_{0.6}$F $e_{0.4}$$O_{3-}$$\delta$/ membrane.\delta$/ membrane.>/ membrane.brane.
$Pb(Fe_{0.5}Nb_{0.5}O_3(PFN)$ thin films were prepared by rf magnetron co-sputtering method on $SiO_2/Si$, ITO/glass, and $Pt/Ti/SiO_2/Si$ substrates and post-annealed at the $N_2$ atmosphere by RTA(rapid thermal annerling). The degree of crystallinity of PFN films was identified on various substrates. Electrical properties of PFN films was characterized for $Pt/PFN/Pt/Ti/SiO_2/Si$ structure. The composition of PFN films was estimated by EPMA (electron probe micro analysis). PFN films would be crystallized better to perovskite phase on ITO/glass substrate than $SiO_2/Si$ substrate. This may be induced by the deformation of Pb deficient pyrochlore phase due to Pb diffusion into $SiO_2/Si$ substrate. PFN films on $Pt/Ti/SiO_2/Si$ substrate. PFN films with 5-10% Pb excess were crystallized to perovskite phase from $500^{\circ}C$ temperature. In summary, we show that Pb composition and annealing temperature were critically influenced on crystallinity to perovskite phase. When PFN film with 17% Pb excess was annealed at $600^{\circ}C$ at the $N_2$ atmosphere for 300kV/cm and 88. Its remnant polarization coercive field $2.0 MC/cm^2$ and 144kV/cm, respectively.
