  • In this paper, we propose a new discrete-time predictive current controller for a PMLSM(permanent magnet linear synchronous motor). The main objectives of the current controllers are that the measured stator current is tracked the command current value accurately and the transient interval is shorten as much as possible, in order to obtain high-performance of ac drive system. The conventional predictive current controller is hard to implement in full digital current controller since a finite calculation time causes a delay between the current sensing time and the time that take to apply the voltage to motor. A new control strategy is the schema that gets the fast adaptation of transient current change, the fast transient response tracking. Moreover, the simulation results will be verified the improvements of Predictive controller and accuracy of the current controller.

  • In order to tune the speed controller in the linear servo applications the accurate information of a mover mass including a load mass is always required. This paper suggests the mass estimation method of a permanent magnet linear synchronous motor(PMLSM) by using the parameter estimation method of Least-Squares algorithm. First, the deterministic autoregressive moving average(DARMA) model of the mechanical dynamic system is derived. The application of the Least-Squares algorithm shows that the mass can be accurately estimated both in the simulation results and in the experimental results.

  • The development of modern high-energy magnet materials has allowed the replacement of field coils in many different types of electromagnetic energy conversion machines. As well, the linear synchronous motor has recently been proposed for linear motion with high efficiency and thrust. Thus, this paper presents an analytical solution for the high thrust and cost reduction of the Iron-Cored Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor (PMLSM) considering magnetization arrays and geometry. Hence, the superior utilization points in each of the magnetization arrays are provided by the height ratio of the magnet/air-gap and magnet/winding coil, etc. In formulation, the space harmonic method in analytical solutions and the generalized 2-D tensor finite element analysis can be used to evaluate force components in magneto static devices including the magnetostrictive phenomenon.

  • This paper describes the direct thrust control of permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) with the secondary aluminium sheet. The time stepped finite element method and moving mesh technique are used for simulating dynamic characteristics of the PMLSM. The secondary back-iron conductivity as well as the initial flux linkage due to permanent magnet are considered in the simulation.

  • The detent force of the permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) is caused by the interaction between the permanent magnet and the iron core of the mover without input current. It is a function of the mover position relative to the stator. This paper proposes a control based method to reduce the detent force for the PMLSM. This detent force that can be predicted by finite element method (FEM) is compensated by injecting the instantaneous current using the field oriented control (FOC) method. Both the simulated and experimental results are reported to validate the effectiveness of this proposed method.

  • Nowadays, small quantity batch production, which is so-called a flexible manufacturing system, is a major trend in the modern factory automation industry. The demands for new transportation system are increased gradually, with which multiple passive carriers carrying materials and semi-products are precisely and individually controlled along a single closed rail. Thus, a new type of permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM), which consists of state coils on a single rail and PM movers as many as carriers, is proposed in this paper. The rail can be segmented as modules with pairs of coils and a current amplifier, which makes the transportation system simple; therefore, the rail can be easily extended and repaired. A design method of the new PMLSM with a single carrier is proposed, which can be thought as a new version of PMLSM, a coil-segmented coreless PMLSM (CS-CLPMLSM). Experimental setup for it is made, and propulsion results show that with the help of a new effective coil selection and switching algorithms, the conventional current-based vector control is sufficient to fulfill the position and velocity control of the new PMLSM. The proposed PMLSM is expected to fulfill seamless servo-control of multiple carriers also in process line, such as a new generation of flat panel display manufacturing line.

  • 영구자석 선형 동기전동기(PMLSM : Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor)의 구조에서, 영구자석이 레일에 고정되고 코일이 움직이는 기존 영구자석 선형 동기전동기와 달리(영구자석 = 고정자, 코일 = 이동자), 코일이 고정되고, 영구자석을 움직이는(영구자석 = 이동자, 코일 = 고정자) 구조의 위치제어시스템을 제안하고자 한다. 위치 측정은 2개의 홀센서를 사용한다. 이 방식은 엔코더 출력 펄스 신호 대신에 2개의 홀센서에서 발생되는 구형파 신호를 4체배하여 이동자의 속도와 위치를 추정한다. 구형파를 발생시키는 2개의 홀센서로 PMLSM의 벡터제어를 구현하였을 때 정격속도 범위 내에서 안정적이고 효율적으로 제어되는 것을 시뮬레이션을 통하여 입증하였다. 또 하드웨어 실험으로 시스템의 위치제어성능은 $30{\sim}50{\mu}m$의 측정범위 내에서 $10{\sim}20{\mu}m$의 정밀도로 기존시스템보다 2배나 개선되며, 경제적 효율성과 제안된 위치제어 개념의 실용적인 유용성도 확인하였다. 2개의 홀센서를 이용한 벡터제어는 협소한 공간에도 취부 할 수 있으므로 엔코더나 레졸버의 장착이 어려운 시스템에 적용될 수 있다.

  • This paper deals with dynamic analysis method of a slotless type permanent magnet linear synchronous motor(PMLSM) using 3-dimensional space harmonic method. The results are good agreement with FEA results because that slotless type PMLSM has simple structure and no saturation of core. And then, Under open-loop control, starting characteristic is analyzed by voltage equation combining with dynamic equation. In order to obtain more accuracy results, this paper use instantaneous back-EMF and thrust instead of back-EMF constant and thrust constant.

  • In this study a control system with variable gain schedule using real speed and moving direction is proposed to control a Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor (PMLSM) with Z-axis operation structure. The implementation of the controller is designed on the DSP TMS320C32 board. PMLSM is operated by using 4-point absolute positions profile with each velocity, acceleration and deceleration. The direction of the initial angle action for starting is set from the lower limit point to the upper limit point on PMLSM operation stroke. The effectiveness of a control system with variable gain schedule is demonstrated by some experimental results.
