Purpose: To examine the relationships between self-care, social support, and biological markers in liver transplant recipients. Methods: The participants included 118 liver transplant recipients who visited outpatient clinic at Y University Hospital in Seoul from April to May, 2013. Questionnaires consisted of self-care and social support scales. The biological markers were collected by reviewing electronic medical records. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA with Scheff$\acute{e}$ post-hoc test, and Pearson's correlation. Results: The self-care score was significantly higher in a patient group within 6 months post-transplant when compared to a patient group post-transplant 3 to 5 years (F=3.10, p=.018). The self-care showed positive correlation with social support with statistical significance (r=.36, p<.001). Conclusion: As the self-care in liver transplant recipients had a positive correlation with social support from family and healthcare providers, the development of comprehensive long-term nursing intervention systems including counseling, education, and support in consideration of progress of time period after transplantation is necessary to enhance self-care behaviors among this population.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate predictors of depression among elderly who have received visiting health services in public health centers. Method: The data has been collected from 678 elderly living in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province during the period from February 21 to June 30 in 2006. The data were collected by individual interview and were analyzed using correlation and multiple regression analysis with the SAS 9.1 program. Result: Among elderly, 73.8% of them showed depression. The elderly with higher level of socioeconomic status (${\beta}=0.136$, p=0.019) and higher level of social support including family support(${\beta}=-0.018$, p<.0001), friend's support(${\beta}=-0.025$, p<.0001) and special person's support (${\beta}=-0.021$, p<.0001) show lower levels of depression. In addition, elderly with perceived good health status (${\beta}=0.119$, p<.0001) feel less depression than those who have poor health condition. Conclusion: These findings suggest that low socioeconomic status and lower level of social support among elderly should be considered to decrease depression. These findings would contribute to health education, designing interventions and program development for appropriate depression management for the elderly.

This study conducted K-POP cover dance for female marriage immigrants, and analyzed the effects of Self-esteem and social support on acculturation stress and depression to provide basic data for improving social relationships and promoting mental health of female marriage immigrants. Female marriage immigrants in their 20s and 30s were recruited, and 25 people each were randomly assigned to a high Self-esteem and social support group (HSS) and a low Self-esteem & social support group (LSS) according to the Self-esteem and social support of the pre-test, a total of 3 surveys were conducted, pre-test, after 6 weeks, after 12 weeks. The Self-esteem of female marriage immigrants following K-POP cover dance(60 minutes, 3 times a week, for 12 weeks) participation improved as the participation period in both HSS and LSS groups increased, and the LSS group improved significantly after 6 weeks. Social support decreased after 6 weeks in HSS and 12 weeks in LSS, The acculturation stress continued to decrease after 6 weeks and after 12 weeks in both HSS and LSS, and the LSS group decreased more significantly. Depression in both HSS and LSS groups decreased as the participation period increased, and the LSS group decreased significantly after 6 weeks. K-POP cover dance is thought to be an effective leisure activity program for female marriage immigrants to improve Self-esteem and social support, and to reduce acculturation stress and depression.
This study was conducted to explore depression, husband's support, the differences of these variables according to general characteristics, and the correlation of these variables in married women. The data was collected from May 2000 till July 2000 by using a questionnaire. The subjects were 419 married women in the area of Seoul and Kyunggi-Do. The data was analized using the SPSS program The results were as follows : 1. The mean score and standard deviation of depression was $13.97{\pm}8.49$ with the range scoring from 0 to 52. The mean score and standard deviation of the husband's support was $17.83{\pm}8.63$ with the range scoring the from 0 to 36. 2. The variables influencing depression were the woman's education level, the husband's education level, home income, marrital satisfaction, menstruation status, and sex related problems. The variables influencing husband's support were the woman's age, the husband's age, the women's education level, the husband's education level, the husband's religion, the husband's job, the home income, marrital period, marrital satisfaction, menstruation status, and sex related problems. 3. There was a moderative negative correlation between anxiety and the husband's support. In conclusion, community health nurses must plan and implement programs improving the husband's support in order to decrease depression in married women.
This study was designed to identify the relation-ship of perceived social support on self-esteem and hopelessness in patients with chronic renal failure who are hemodialysis. The subjects of this study were the 50 patients who were registered in the hemodialysis department of the two hospitals. The data were collected using a questionnaire and The period of the data collection was from August 9 to 16, 1993. The instruments for this study were the perceived social support scale designed by Park Ji-Won, the self -esteem scale designed by Rosenberg and the hopelessness scale designed by Beck et al. The data were analyzed using frequencies, percentages, t-test, ANOVA, and .Pearson correlation coefficient. The results are summarized as follows ; 1. The degree of support according to the type of perceived social support ranged down in the fol-lowing order from high to low the mean emotion-al support 21.12, the mean informational support 19.58, the mean appraisal support 17.00, the mean material support 15.22, the man self-esteem was 32.00 and the mean hopelessness was 60.48. 2. Test for hypothesis ; Hypothesis 1, "The higher the level of perceived social support in patients on hemodialysis, the higher their level of self-esteem will be. " was not supported(r=.05, p=0.74). Hypothesis 2, "The higher the level of perceived social support in patients on hemodialysis, the lower their level of hopelessness will be. " was supported(r=-0.53, p=0.00). 3. The relations between general characteristics and the level of perceived social support, self-esteem, and hopelessness ; (1) The 'Gender'(P=0.04), 'Occupation'(P=0.04), 'Education'(P=0.00), 'Married state'(P=0.00) 'Duration of Hemodialysis'(P=0.00) and 'In-come'(P=0.00) of the subjects were related to perceived social support and showed a statistically significant difference. (2) No general characteristics of the subjects were related self-esteem in a statistically significant way. (3) The 'Education'(P=0.00) , 'Income'(P=0.00) of the subjects were related to hopelessness and showed a statistically significant difference. Thus, it is concluded that social support must be included in nursing interventions for patients with chronic renal failure on hemodialysis.

This study examines how the development and value of dresses shown in MBC historical dramas have changed with the overall change of the dramas. As for the research method, the second data analysis was done with literature study which was supplemented with interviews with the wardrobe team of MBC production design center. Historical dramas produced by MBC have gone through the developmental period, legitimate historical drama-oriented period, stagnant period, and historical dramas-modernized period. The value of costume in each period is as follows: Costume in the developmental period is considered only as part of drama setting. During legitimate historical drama-oriented period, it carries value as educational data and historical replica produced by historical research. Production design including costume obtains its own value in the stagnant period although the production of historical dramas decreases dramatically. And lastly, in the historical dramas-modernized period, costume starts to have commercial value as cultural contents. Historical drama costume may contain important value in terms of education and history, even though there has been controversy on TV historical dramas' role: they should focus on reproducing historical facts or they should support writers' creativity.
The government of Korea enacted the National Health Promotion Act in 1995, and set aside funds for national health promotion, endeavoring to reduce the smoking rate of its citizens. Consequently, smoking rates in all age groups of both sexes were lowered during the period of 1999-2003 when legal backing and financial support for no-smoking policies from the national health promotion funds were provided. The decrease in the smoking rate is attributed to the combined effort of the fact that enactment of related acts, their implementation, financial support, and education and publicity 'campaigns on no smoking. However, at the current pace of decreasing the smoking rates, it will be difficult to achieve the Health and Welfare Ministry's smoking rate goal of30% among adult males by 2013. Thus, related acts should be reshaped, corresponding support should be increased, and financial support should also be provided to implement comprehensive no-smoking policies. Also, budgets should also be alloted to establish a system of providing feedback on the monitoring and evaluation of both short-term and long-term no-smoking business planning and implementation.

Present family pattern of Korean society has been changed into nuclear family pattern based on the married couple from traditional expanded family pattern. As the entire social consciousness has been changed into private disposition, the number of independent household for 1 person has increases. Also, as the delivery age of first child became late according to the elongation of average period for the national education, the increment of average age for the first marriage and women's participation in the society, the family pattern of married couple lasts longer than used to be. Like this, considering the family formed period comprised from a household for 1 person to a household for 1married couple and senescence increase, as any response is inevitable for the requirement of residential space where 1~2 dwellers' life can be accepted economic and functionally within smaller scaled space, development and research on a plan system(flexible-typed plan) increasing the degree of freedom is required in developing plan of unit household. In the study for this, considering the change of population and social structure, I suggest the method in developing economic design responding to the differentiation, designing the change of support-system and infill-system based on the systemic comprehension about the residing environment in the family formation period and the research for main life pattern and residing environment in the family formation period in the present city life. I will set (family) composing system, develop basic and mixing typed standard model and establish the stage of applied development for the development of economic design.

In this paper, the regular rotational gaits of the quadruped crawling robot are studied. It is assumed that the proposed regular rotational gaits starts from one of six support patterns in a translational gaits and end up with one of six support patterns in a translational gaits. Noting that six support patterns in a regular translational gait belong to two different groups with respect to regular rotational gait, the static stability margin and the maximum rotational displacement during one rotational stride period for the two representative support patterns are investigated. It is expected that the proposed regular rotational gaits will enhance the omni-directional characteristics of the quadruped crawling robot.

This study estimates the metacentric height (GM) of a model ship by varying the transverse weight distribution, considering the effects of the roll period and moment of inertia, and compares it with the GM values measured by the inclining test. In the process, the relationship between the values is analyzed. Three types of ships-a 7-ton fishing vessel, 20-ton fishing vessel, and KRISO Very Large Crude-oil Carrier (KVLCC)-were used for the experiment and comparison. The roll period and moment of inertia were measured using the free roll decay and swing frame tests, and the GM was measured using inclining test. The estimated GM from the roll period and moment of inertia showed the same trend as the GM measured using the inclining test in the change of the weight distribution. However, the GM values measured using the inclining test were lower. Therefore, additional correction factors or parameters other than the roll period and moment of inertia are necessary for estimating GM. In the future, the relationship between the weight center and the estimated GM will be analyzed to derive the correction factors.
