Companies should resolve consumer dissatisfaction and increase brand loyalty by actively identifying the factors of consumer dissatisfaction and proactively responding to expected complaint behavior to induce repurchase. This is a management goal that should be pursued in common regardless of the size of the company. The specific purpose of this study is to find out whether the degree of dissatisfaction differs depending on whether or not consumers' expected performance before purchase and the actual perceived performance after purchase is compared, whether the degree of dissatisfaction affects the type of complaint behavior, which is a subsequent behavior, and whether the attributable behavior has a moderating effect in this process and whether the persistence of the result and the controllability of the cause act as a factor that determines the attribution position. In particular, compared to general companies, venture companies are more likely to overload the information processing ability of managers and are likely to make various irrational errors in decision making, so this study has important academic and practical implications. As a result of the analysis, the negative inconsistency group had the highest degree of dissatisfaction, and the higher the degree of inconsistency, the higher the dissatisfaction. The attributable behavior of unsatisfied consumers had a moderating effect on the degree of dissatisfaction, and the dissatisfaction was significantly higher in the external attributable group than the internal attributable group, which was statistically significant. On the other hand, the persistence of the result had a statistically significant effect on the attribution position, but the controllability of the cause was not. The degree of attributable behavior and dissatisfaction did not affect the type of complaining behavior, showing limited influence. Along with the interpretation of these results, this study presents various implications, especially for small and medium-sized/venture companies that provide new durable products.

The firms must perform both exploitation activities that efficiently use current resources and exploration activities that capture new opportunities. A company that simultaneously performs two opposite attributes, exploitation and exploration activities, is called an 'Ambidexerity Organization' or 'Organizational ambidexterity', which is called the Ambidextrous organization. This study examines whether the key factors of entrepreneurial orientation affect a firm's performance using two-handed strategies, and empirically analyzes the moderating effects of environmental dynamics. The results show that the entrepreneurial orientation has a significant effect on a firm's performance in the Ambidextrous organization. In addition, the moderating effect of environmental dynamics showed a moderating effect on the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and organizational ambidexterity. This study not only suggests practical implications for SMEs, including venture firms and startups, but also has a significant impact on the relationship between organizational ambidexterity and a firm's performance. It is expected to make academic contributions by introducing variables and analyzing influential relationships.
This study is to look at the relationship of entrepreneurship(innovativeness, risk-taking), the learning competence, environmental factors(the domestic market hostility, the speed of technological change) and export performance in international new ventures(INVs). In addition, the integrated model is constructed for the purpose of analysis of the moderating effects of environmental factors. Through the existing investigation, nine hypotheses are set up. PLS(Partial Least Square) analysis method is used to sample of 115 INVs. Analysis, the two elements of entrepreneurship influenced the positive(+) in the learning competence and export performance. And the relationship of learning competence and export performance is significant. In the moderating effects, only the domestic market hostility has a significant moderating effects between the learning competence and innovativeness. The results of this research shows that innovativeness influence the learning competence playing a positive role in the performance in the domestic market is higher. This point illustrates the practical implications of the importance of innovation in learning empowerment.

This study aims to investigate the effects of venture & inno-biz companies' technological innovation competences on technological performances and economic competitive advantage, using VRIO framework. The empirical data for this study were based on the technology assessment results of Korea Technology Finance Corporation (KOTEC) on 3,462 venture & inno-biz companies and the following 2 years' financial data. Sample companies with technological innovation resources, such as technology management strategy(Value), differentiation of technology(Rarity), imitation difficulty of technology(Imitability) and technical organization capability(Organization), made efforts to expand their intellectual property rights, technological development and commercialization of new products, thereby ensuring technological competitive advantage. Furthermore, technological competitive advantage were proved to improve sales growth, increase in operating revenue, and financial soundness. Compared with four VRIO factors' influence on business performance, imitation difficulty of technology(Imitability) and organization technological capability(Organization) had much more influence than any other internal resources or capabilities respectively.

The organizational ambidexterity is an organizational strategy designed to pursue exploration activities to seize new opportunities and exploitation activities to efficiently use resources. Most of these ambidextrous structures have been studied for large corporations with slack resources, and there are still not many studies on the necessity of an ambidextrous structure for startups with relatively low-level resources. However, recently, the startup ecosystem is being advanced globally, and the amount of VC investment is rapidly increasing. This is a time when a lot of venture fund is invested in startups and a startup-friendly environment for rapid growth is created. This is the time to discuss the necessity and applicability of an ambidextrous organizational structure for startups. Therefore, this study conducted a hypothesis test whether the importance and necessity of balance that startups solving market problems with new ideas and utilizing accumulated resources have. To conduct this study, we analyzed 140 startups data gathered from the survey and the moderation effect was also analyzed. As a result of the study, it was verified that the balance of startup exploration and exploitation had a significant effect on startup performance, and the moderating effect of environmental dynamics was found to have a significant effect on the relationship with non-financial performance. Therefore, for startups with insufficient resources, it was concluded that the surplus resources generated in the process of a firm's growth should be effectively utilized and the balance between exploration and exploitation should be balanced from the initial stage of searching for a new business. In other words, it was confirmed that it is important for continuous growth and survival to seek the structure of an ambidextrous organization in order to internalize a mechanism that enables startups to pursue both effectiveness and efficiency in the long term. This study suggests a strategic direction for the growth of startups from the perspective of organizational structure. We expect that this meaningful results on the relationship between the ambidextrous capabilities of startups and performance contribute to the growth of startups in the rapidly growing startup venture environment.

The Korean government is currently expanding the business startup incubator support program and funds for new ventures with innovative technology in order to spread the second venture boom. However, despite the fact that entrepreneurial education and mentoring that entrepreneurs should have are important parts for the sustainable growth of the startup, some companies selected for government support programs are reluctant to participate in programs such as entrepreneurship education and mentoring for the sole purpose of funding commercialization. This research addressed the effects of entrepreneurial alertness with opportunity awareness as its medium and the small business mentoring service along with the number of times the mentoring has taken place, on the corporate performances. The results of empirical research are as follow: the first one is that scanning-search and evaluation-judgment can influence a company's performance (financial, non-financial) through opportunity recognition, with the exception of association-connection, which is a sub-factor of entrepreneurial alertness. Secondly, it was found to affect a company's financial and non-financial performance through opportunity recognition for financing mentoring, technical support mentoring, and management support mentoring. Thirdly, it was found that the number of mentoring also affects the financial and non-financial performance of a company through opportunity recognition. The implications of this study are that it should be revisited that program managers consider rooms that do not violate the startup founder's strategic decision-making opportunities when designing and operating the program as entrepreneurial alertness sub-factor association-connection does not affect corporate performance through opportunity recognition. This study also emphasizes the need for customized mentoring to meet the outcome goals of each startup, as it has been empirically clarified that the mentoring provided to the startup by the government's support is important. The contribution of this research is that entrepreneurial alertness and opportunity recognition that are treated as important components in research for entrepreneurship, and the factors of mentoring and mentoring frequency that are recognized as important elements in the practical aspect of startup business are clarified theoretically and empirically as an influential factor in corporate performance. And this study also provide a rationale for the startup business support agency supplying mentoring.

This paper examines whether angel investors affect startup's financial performance (profitability and growth ratios) in the Korean startup market over 10 years period from 2009 to 2018. In particular, we consider not only the behavior of angel investor such as the investment amount or the type of investments (stocks, bonds) but also the type of angle investor (individual or corporation). Our empirical results are as follows. First, we find that the startup's profitability ratios are higher after the investment of angel investors. However, the growth ratios show different results in assets and sales. Second, we identify that the investment amount of angel investors negatively affects on the startup's growth ratios. Lastly, we find that equity investment such as common stock or preferred stock and the individual angel investors such as personal investment association or professional angels show higher financial performance than bond investment or corporate angel investors. Overall, our findings imply that angel investors positively affect startup's financial performance. In particular, we infer that the superior financial performance is largely attributed to monitor startups by participating as shareholders or to select more carefully by the individual angel investors who may be exposed to more investment risk. In conclusion, our findings support that angel investors play a positive role in the Korean venture investment market.
In a turbulent environment, it is important for a firm to obtain competitiveness through acquiring new technologies and new knowledge. Many studies has shown that R&D has positive effects on innovation and performance. However, the limitation of resources and research personnel for SMEs leads to the needs of collaboration between government R&D and SMEs. The quantitative results of government R&D comes in the form of patents or publication of papers while the qualitative results comes in the form of commercialization (revenue increase or cost reduction) of the SMEs acquiring the technology through technology transfer. Korean government invested 16.9 Trillion Won in 2013 and achieved remarkable quantitative results but the qualitative results are still yet to be improved. The technology transfer rate in 2011 was 26.0% while the success rate of commercialization of the transferred technology is only 23.6%. Therefore it is meaningful to study the success factors of the technology commercialization in Korea. In this study, a case of technology commercialization between ETRI and Initech is studied. Initech was a venture firm which started in 1997 with 2 employees and after transfer of technology from ETRI in 1999, it has grown to a firm of 238 employees. In this study, Jolly's commercialization model was used to analyze the success factors of the commercialization. It was shown that four main factors that leads to the success are (1) mobilizing interest and endorsement through customer oriented R&D by ETRI, (2) mobilizing resources for demonstration through systematic technology commercialization process by ETRI, (3) mobilizing market constitutents through government standardization that leads to the reliability of the participants, and (4) mobilizing complementary assets for delivery by management strategies of Initech.
The paper evaluates the Korean science, technology, and innovation policy(STIP) in terms of an individual firm. The firm is Viromed(Ltd), a new technology-based venture company in the field of biotechnology. The case is compared with the 'Hwang Project', which is known as a typical failure case in Korea. In order to evaluate the Korean STIP, we establish 6 areas, which are technological infrastructure, institutional infrastructure, human capital infrastructure, technology market, industrial base, and innovation networks. The study shows that the policy schemes relating with technological infrastructure, institutional infrastructure, human capital infrastructure, and industrial base play a positive role in the start-up, development and innovation of Viromed(Ltd). However, we can hardly find the role of Korean government in fostering the technology market, transferring the technological output to economic performance. Although the international networks with the British, American, and Japanese firms or investors were a key success factor of the growth of Viromed(Ltd), the role of the government in this policy area was not enough. As for the 'Hwang Project', we suggest that the government should consider the possibility of commercialization in choosing R&D projects and determining the size of financial aids. Since the evaluation of the Korean STIP is based on an individual firm, the results of the paper need to be confirmed by a systematic comparison with other cases or industries.

In a rolling wire probe, a key component of an inspection apparatus for PDP electrode patterns, the electric performance of it is known to be strongly dependent on the surface condition of a collet pin, a needle pin, and a wire. However, the collet and needle pins rotate very rapidly in contact with each other, which results in the degradation of the surface by the heat and friction and finally the formation of black wear marks on the surface after a several hundred hours test. Once the black wear marks appear on the surface, the electric resistance of the probe increases sharply and so the integrity of the probe is severely damaged. In this experiment, TiN coating, which has excellent electric conductances and good wear-resistance, has been applied on the surface of collect and needle pins for preventing the surface damages. In order to achieve the homogeneous coating with a good adhesion property, special coating substrate stages and jigs were designed and applied during coating. TiN has been deposited using 99.999% Titanium target by a DC reactive sputtering method. According to the components and jigs, processing parameters, such as DC power, RF bias and the flow rate ratio of Ar and N$_2$ used as reactive gases, has been controlled to obtain good TiN films. Detailed problems and solutions for applying the new substrate stages and jigs will be discussed.
