Since most of the first witnesses of cardiac arrest in clinical settings are nurses, the ability to perform CPR is important. The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for developing education that strengthens CPR performance in the future by examining inactive nurses' CPR knowledge, attitude, performance confidence, device discomfort, continued use intention, and educational achievement. The final subjects of this study were 88 inactive nurses residing in B city. The study period was from June 23, 2020 to December 24, 2020. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation using SPSS WIN 24.0 program. After obtaining the subject's consent for the study, an inactive nurse who understood the purpose of the study and voluntarily consented to the study participated. To investigate the perception of experience, the subjects watched 360-degree virtual reality contents about CPR in the hospital using HMD. The data of this study were analyzed using SPSS WIN 22.0.program. As a result of this 360-degree study on CPR in the hospital, the average score for the inactive nurses on CPR knowledge was 12.70±3.43, the average score for performance confidence was 6.04±2.45, and the average score for attitude was 4.63±0.80. As a result of experience recognition of 360-degree virtual reality contents for CPR in hospitals, the average score for device discomfort was 4.01±0.94, the average score for continued use intention was 2.07±0.85, and the average score for educational achievement was 2.11±0.79. As a result of correlation analysis, educational achievement and continued use intention were significantly positively correlated (r=.77, p<.001). Based on the results of this study, in order to strengthen the CPR performance capability of inactive nurses in emergency situations, it is necessary to increase CPR knowledge and confidence in performing CPR, and to cultivate a positive attitude toward performing CPR. In addition, it is necessary to implement CPR simulation education based on patient cases by applying content that considers educational achievement and continuous use intention.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the balance confidence and balance ability among community-residing stroke patients. Methods: The sample for this study was a convenience sample obtained from patients who visited welfare centers for the disabled in three cities from October to December in 2009. The Activities-specific Balance Confidence Scale and Berg Balance Scale were used to measure confidence in task performance and balance ability. Results: The level of balance confidence and balance ability were low in these subjects. There was a significant relationship between balance confidence and balance ability (r=.424, p=.000). Subjects with less balance ability felt less balance confidence. Conclusion: Among community-residing stroke patients, falls are common. Falls prevention which may contribute to the incidence of fall and fall related injury should be part of stroke rehabilitation plan. Also, it is necessary that an intervention for falls prevention after stroke should take into account factors such as the balance confidence and balance ability.
Recently demands for the speech technology-based products targeted for the mobile terminals such as cellular phones and PDA are rapidly increasing. And voting-based speaker identification algorithm is known to have a good performance in the mobile environment, since it works well with small amount of speaker training data. In this paper, we proposed a method to improve the performance of this voting based speaker identification system by using the observation confidence value which is derived from the function of SNR each frame. The proposed method is evaluated with ETRI cellular phone DB which is made for the speaker recognition task. The experimental results show that the proposed method has better performance of 2-3% identification rate than the conventional GMM method.
Objectives : This study is a quasi-experiment with a pre-post design and a nonequivalent control group performed from May 1 to June 2, 2013 to verify the effects of a simulation based education program on nursing students' self-confidence, and clinical performance ability. Methods : The subjects of the study were a total of 60 students in their fourth year of a nursing program at a university located in G city and they were assigned to an experimental group of 30 students and a control group of 30 students by convenience sampling. Results : After being offered education, self-confidence, and clinical performance ability were significantly more improved than before in each group. In the comparison of the two groups, the self-confidence (t=3.00, p=.004) and clinical performance ability(t=3.14, p=.003) of the experiment group were significantly higher than those of the control group. Conclusions : The results indicated that instructional methods using a simulation-based emergency care program should be adopted maximize the effects of advanced cardiopulmonary life support education.
Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the effects of simulation-based education using high-fidelity simulator and standardized patient in nursing care for children with fever on nursing students. Methods: A total of 166 senior nursing students who completed pediatric nursing practicum courses participated in this study. The single group study design with pretest and posttest was used. The simulation education was provided for 200mins including orientation, simulation preparation, simulation practicum, and debriefing. Pre and post surveys were performed using questionnaires on clinical performance competency, communication skills, critical thinking disposition and self-confidence. Results: The mean scores of clinical performance competency (t=-2.56, p<.05), communication skills (t=-6.39, p<.001), critical thinking disposition (t=-3.43, p<.001), and self-confidence (t=-3.72, p<.001) in posttest were significantly higher than those in pretest. Also, clinical performance competency in nursing care for children with fever has significant relationships with communication skills, critical thinking disposition and self-confidence. Conclusion: The results indicate that simulation-based education using high-fidelity simulator and standardized patient is an effective strategy for improving clinical performance competency, communication skills, critical thinking disposition and self-confidence in nursing students. Further study is needed to verify the effects.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate differences of pre-post simulation training in problem solving ability, performance confidence, and critical thinking skill according to degree of nursing students' self-leadership. Methods: This study was a descriptive survey using a self-report questionnaire. One hundred eighty nursing students participated in this study which programed a simulation scenario of pre-post operative patients' care. Descriptive statistics, paired t-test, ANCOVA with IBM SPSS 21.0 program were used for data analysis. Results: After the simulation training, both the above-average subjects and below-average subjects in self-leadership significantly improved their problem-solving ability, performance confidence, and critical thinking skill. compared with their previous level. The subjects who rated above-average in self-leadership, improved their degree of problem-solving ability, performance confidence, and critical thinking skill significantly more than those who were below-average in self-leadership. Conclusion: Self-leadership of nursing students is an important element in effective simulation training.

Purpose: This study was done to verify effects of a self-directed feedback practice using smartphone videos on nursing students' basic nursing skills, confidence in performance and learning satisfaction. Methods: In this study an experimental study with a post-test only control group design was used. Twenty-nine students were assigned to the experimental group and 29 to the control group. Experimental treatment was exchanging feedback on deficiencies through smartphone recorded videos of nursing practice process taken by peers during self-directed practice. Results: Basic nursing skills scores were higher for all items in the experimental group compared to the control group, and differences were statistically significant ["Measuring vital signs" (t=-2.10, p=.039); "Wearing protective equipment when entering and exiting the quarantine room and the management of waste materials" (t=-4.74, p<.001) "Gavage tube feeding" (t=-2.70, p=.009)]. Confidence in performance was higher in the experimental group compared to the control group, but the differences were not statistically significant. However, after the complete practice, there was a statistically significant difference in overall performance confidence (t=-3.07. p=.003). Learning satisfaction was higher in the experimental group compared to the control group, but the difference was not statistically significant (t=-1.67, p=.100). Conclusion: Results of this study indicate that self-directed feedback practice using smartphone videos can improve basic nursing skills. The significance is that it can help nursing students gain confidence in their nursing skills for the future through improvement of basic nursing skills and performance of quality care, thus providing patients with safer care.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the knowledge on patient safety and performance confidence for the subject of health-related major students. Participants were 349 Health-related majors. Data were analyzed using SPSS 21.0. According to the study results, correct answer rate for patients' knowledge on safety was 65.7% in average. Average point of performance confidence was $7.11{\pm}1.74$. Considering in terms of question, patient identification was high, while effective communication was shown to be low.
