Method: Data were collected by questionnaires from 160 patients in a Workers Accident Medical Center. Data were analyzed by Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple regression. Result: There were positive correlations among health promotion behavior, self-efficacy(r=.674, p=.000), perceived benefit(r=527, p=000) and self-esteem(r-471, p=000). But there was not correlation between the health promotion behavior and perceived health state. Multiple regression analysis showed that the most powerful predictor was self-efficacy, followed by self esteem. Conclusion: This study revealed that important factors such as self-efficacy and self-esteem should be treated for increasing of the health promotion behavior of pneumonconiosis patients.

  • Purpose: To identify the status of regular cervical cancer screening practices among middle-aged women, the associations between regular practice and research factors, and the predictive model and factors effecting such behavior was studied. Method: Two hundred women, aged 40 to 60, were selected by convenience in one urban area of Seoul. They were asked about their regular attendance for screening, knowledge of cancer and screening, health belief, health self-determination index and certain personal factors. Result: Approximately 54.5% of the women had periodic screening tests every 6 months to 2 years. Their knowledge of cervical cancer and health belief were at the medium level of each scale, but their health self-determination scores (HSDI) were low. Some influencing factors, and their cancer odds ratio were identified through univariate regression analysis. These variables were included in a predictive model, and this model proved to have enough fit and classification power (83.5%). In this model, the financial state, self-belief and self-determination scores were found to be significant. Conclusion: Middle-age women's intrinsic motivation for healthy behavior was found to be low in those who felt to be in a poor financial state, had higher perceived barriers, lower perceived benefits and a lower prevalence of undergoing regular screening test.

Results: Cognition showed significant differences according to gender education, and regular exercise. Cognition was significantly correlated to stress and age. Stress was significantly correlated to orientation, recall, and attention/calculation. In the results of stepwise multiple regression, factors affecting cognition were stress, age, and gender. Conclusion: It is necessary to prepare health promotion programs that can reduce stress level in the community elderly.

Collected data were analysed by SPSS WIN 18.0 statistical program for frequency, percentage production, ${\chi}^2$ (Chi-square) verification, t-test, One-way ANOVA, Logistic Regression. Results: The distribution of total subjects by oral health behaviors were 56.8% for "have ever trained how to tooth brushing", 76.6% for "correctly performed tooth brushing by himself ", 71.8% for "tooth brushing a day is two times and less", 87.5% for "it doesn't tooth brushing in meals and after" and 53.6% for "it doesn't use the facility for oral health", respectively. The distribution of total subjects by the state of perceived oral health were 51.0% for "feel the oral discomfort", 51.6% for "feel the comfortable chewing on starchy food", respectively. The mean point of perceived oral health by general characteristics of total subjects were statistically significant difference in sex, type of medical insurance, smoke, exercise, and chronic disease. The mean point of perceived oral health by oral health behaviors of total subjects were statistically significant difference in educational experience on tooth brushing, recognition for tooth brushing by himself, tooth brushing a day, and tongue cleaning. The risk factors of perceived oral health were type of medical insurance and chronic disease in general characteristics, tooth brushing in meals and after and tooth brushing a day, and tongue cleaning in oral health behaviors. Methods: The sample of this study were 100 elderly in Korea, 51 of whom had had a sports injury. The study used questionnaires to gather data. There were 8 demographic factors, 4 factors related to physical activity, perceived health status and exercise self-efficacy of the subjects. Data were analyzed by frequencies, chi-square test, and t-test. Result: Among the sports injured elders, one occurrence of a sport injury was 86.3%. There were more outdoor than indoor sports injuries of elders (66.7%), and sports injuries of elders occurred more in the winter (82.7%). The major cause of the sports injuries was loss of balance. Ankles were frequently damaged from these injuries. The most significant change after the sports injury was reduction of physical activity (60.8%). There were significant differences between sports injured elderly and non-injured elderly for age (${\chi}^2=2.58$, p=.011) and the amount of physical activity (t=1.96, p=.050), but there was no significant difference in perceived health status and exercise self-efficacy. Conclusion: To prevent sports injuries in the elderly means to maintain a medium level of physical activity and to improve their balance.

  • The purpose of this study is a descriptive research study to identify middle-aged women's positive thinking, perceived health status, aging anxiety, and meaning of life, identify relationships between variables, and analyze predictive factors affecting the meaning of life. This study was approved by IRB (1040117-202208-HR-024-01), from September 10, 2022 to February 28, 2023, data were collected from 130 middle-aged women. The data was analyzed using SPSS WIN 26.0 version. Positive thinking and perceived health status(r=.43, p<.001), positive thinking and meaning of life(r=.54, p<.001), perceived health state and meaning of life(r=.31, p<.001) showed a statistically significant positive correlation. Positive thinking and aging anxiety(r=-.20, p=.021) and perceived health state and aging anxiety(r=-.46, p<.001) showed a statistically significant negative correlation. Aging anxiety and meaning of life(r=-.10, p=.281) were not statistically significant. Factors influencing the meaning of life among middle-aged women were found to be positive thinking (𝛽=.52, p<.001), menopausal status (𝛽=-.22, p=.003), with meaning of life (F=32.49, p<.001) explaining 32.8%. As the positive thinking of middle-aged women has been identified as a predictor of the meaning of life, it is considered necessary to develop an intervention program to promote positive thinking of middle-aged women.
