  • This research focuses on the perceived marketplace influence(PMI: A belief that recognizes the effect that an individual's actions will have on the behavior of other consumers in the market and thus drives them to act on fair trade consumption) of consumers who may act as a more fundamental explanatory alternative to the gap in attitudes and behaviors of fair trade products. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between consumer's self - determination psychological needs (autonomy, competence, relevance), influence (personal influence, market influence), and the assets of fair trade products. As a result of the empirical analysis, it was found that among the major psychological needs related to self-determination, the variables other than competence and the perceived influence relations of consumers can be directly formed, and the perceived consumer effectiveness(PCE) has a positive influence on perceived marketplace influence(PMI). It is also found that the perceived influence of consumers(PCE, PMI) has an influence on the consumers' perceived equity of Fair Trade products. The results of this study will provide an opportunity to theoretically explain the gap between consumers' attitudes and behaviors of Fair Trade products, which is a part of ethical consumption, and provide important implications for the establishment of marketing strategies.

  • In this study, the tasks of thermal equilibrium and heat insulation concept were divided into scientific and everyday contexts to analyzed the level of familiarity, feeling of knowing, state curiosity, and state anxiety that students feel in task contexts and their relationship. The subjects of this study were One hundred nine students in sixth grade of elementary schools located in metropolitan cities. The results of this study were as follows. First, there was no difference in the level of feeling of knowing, state curiosity, and state anxiety in the task of scientific and everyday contexts. In the case of familiarity, there was no consistent tendency in the concept of thermal equilibrium and heat insulation. And the group who recognized the task context familiarly had higher feeling of knowing and lower state anxiety than the group who recognized the task context unfamiliarly. Second, familiarity and feeling of knowing showed high positive correlation, state anxiety and familiarity showed negative correlation, and state anxiety and feeling of knowing had also negative correlation. In addition, familiarity had a negative effect on state anxiety, and FOK had a positive effect on state curiosity and a negative effect on state anxiety. There was no significant moderating effect of the task context. Third, in case of state curiosity, the group perceived the knowledge gap was very small had the highest state curiosity, and the group perceived the knowledge gap was very large had the lowest state curiosity. In case of state anxiety, the less the knowledge gap was perceived, the lower the anxiety was triggered. This study broadens our understanding of the learning process and provides implications for effective instruction strategies for students' cognitive and emotional states.

  • Objectives: Socioeconomic factors are one of the significant factors explaining drinking problems in our society. From the poverty and inequality perspective, not only absolute poverty but perceived level of poverty or inequality has a direct effect on one's health and health behaviors. The purpose of the study is to explore the growth trajectories of problem drinking in Korea in relation to poverty and perceived income. Methods: Data from 13,414 adults were analyzed using 4 years of data (2010 to 2014) from the Korea Welfare Panel. Main variables included poverty status, perceived income inequality, and problem drinking. A latent growth modeling was employed for the analysis. Results: The non-poverty group had higher initial level of problem drinking; however, the poverty group showed higher rate of increase in problem drinking rate. The perceived income inequality had no significant influence on the initial level, but over time, those with higher level of perceived income inequality showed higher rate of increase in problem drinking. Conclusions: Findings showed that poverty and inequality affect changes in problem drinking. Efforts to prevent and decrease problems related to alcohol should not only focus on changing individuals' behavior but also on decreasing the inequality gap.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the relationships between the perceived and actual achievement on skill performance assessment and identify the relation to learning motivation factors. Methods: A total of 80 senior nursing students currently studying at a university participated in the study in 2015. Students completed a performance examination of 20 nursing skills at the end of their 7-week training period; their performance was rated using checklists. Students then completed a survey, which included questions about learning motivation and perceived achievement level. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation, and Kruskal-Wallis test. Results: There was a weak correlation between perceived and actual achievement. Intrinsic and extrinsic goal-orientation and self-efficacy in learning motivation factors was significantly correlated to perceived achievement. Perceived achievement and self-efficacy in middle quartile of actual achievement were higher than other upper- or lower-quartile group. Conclusion: The findings suggest that the motivation factors of learners should be taken into account to maximize academic achievement in nursing skills training. In addition, it should be considered a strategy to reduce the gap between perceived and actual achievement.

  • Purpose: Even though arranging images of products is a common practice in the online retail context, relatively little attention has been paid to the distance effect among alternatives, that is, how distance among displayed products can impact consumers' responses. Drawing on contagion theory, the primary goal of the current study is to investigate how spatial distance between two products in a product display can influence consumers' perceived similarity. Research design, data and methodology: This study used a 2(spatial distance: close vs. far) experimental design and collected data from undergraduate students in Korea through an online survey using Qualtrics. ANOVA was conducted to test the proposed effect, in which the dependent variables are the perceived similarity of usage occasion/purpose (Study 1) and the indexed differences of perceived brand statuses between two products (Study 2). Results: The results of both experiments indicated that the displayed products were perceived to be more similar to one another when products were presented close together (vs. far). Conclusions: The results help to fill a research gap and provide a better understanding of the role of physical distance in diverse marketing communications. This is especially useful when designing online shopping websites to form perceptions of brand images.

  • The existing studies on measuring service quality have focused on moderating expectation. But one of real problems of measuring service quality is the assumption that customer's perceived quality is increased linearly by gap(performance-expectation). In this study, we assumed non-linearity of customer's perceived quality. The results of empirical study show that NL-SERVQUAL(suggested model in this paper) is better than SERVQUAL and SERVPERF.

  • The central seam, the vertical 'line' between doors, in the front view of a refrigerator must have its gap and flush within certain ranges to meet functional and aesthetic requirements. The conventional criteria for gap and flush control in the industry are to keep the gap and flush within certain ranges at each of various points along the seam. For aesthetics, however, the uniformity of the gap is also as important because a 'tapered' seam is negatively perceived by human eyes. This paper shows a case study of tolerance design for a refrigerator door system. It presents a step-by-step procedure, which consists of datum flow chain analysis, identification of assembly features, computer modeling of feature tolerances, assembly operations and measurements, tolerance simulation, and tolerance adjustments based on the simulation results. It is found that extra care may need to be used to satisfy the aesthetical criterion for gap uniformity.

  • Trust and perceived usefulness have been variables frequently used by IS researchers to explain consumers' online transaction intention. A group of prior studies have incorporated the two variables simultaneously to build better models to capture the phenomenon. However, the studies have largely ignored the role of trust by replacing trust with trustworthiness. The purpose of this study is to fill this gap. To do this, the study conceptualizes and tests relationships between trust, perceived usefulness and related variables. Based on the study results, the study discusses that trust and trustworthiness are distinct and have causal relationships, the dimensions (ability, integrity, and benevolence) of trustworthiness are related but theoretically distinct, and trust performs a mediating role within its nomological network.

  • Objectives: This study aimed to identify agreement between smartphone addiction (SA) and perceived SA among adolescents. Methods: This survey was done with 394 subjects conveniently sampled from elementary school (ES), middle school (MS), academic (AHS) and vocational (VHS) high school. The data were collected from June 20 to July 20, 2013 with self-administered questionnaire and analyzed by descriptive statistics, chi-square test and Cohen's kappa (${\kappa}$). Results: High risk of SA showed 2.8% in total, 1.0% in ES, 2.1% in MS, 4.1% in AHS, and 4.0% in VHS, which was statistically different by type of school (p<0.001). Perceived SA showed 22.6% in total, 9.0% in ES, 21.9% in MS, 33.7% in AHS, and 26.0% in VHS, which was statistically different by type of school (p=0.003). The agreement between SA and perceived SA was 82.0% (${\kappa}$=0.54) in total, 91.8% (${\kappa}$=0.53) in ES, 75.0% (${\kappa}$=0.33) in MS, 77.5% (${\kappa}$=0.53) in AHS, and 84.8% (${\kappa}$=0.65) in VHS. Conclusion: The agreement between SA and perceived SA showed moderate in general, but fair in MS. It is suggested to develop step-by-step activities to reduce the gap between SA and perceived SA among adolescen, in particular, middle school students.
