In this paper, we investigated on the characteristics and assessment of the insulators damaged by hitting tester(ST-100, Sharp-Eng, KOR). It made that an apparatus act on KS C 3801 for the damaged characteristics and assessment of insulators according to external scattering objects. There are selected 255mm glass insulators and 254mm porcelain insulators as the specimen. The hitting angles of the damaged insulator by pendulum weight are at $72^{\circ}$. At these points, velocity of pendulum weight is about 3.04m/sec and the force is 58.16N. At the hitting angle of 26 degrees, glass insulator is diffused the vibration within it but porcelain insulator is not. The inside vibrations of glass insulator and porcelain insulator are as like as two at the hitting angle of 53 degrees. The damaged glass insulator at the hitting angle of 72 degrees hardly is not diffused.

The development of more safe recliners is an important issue in the automotive industry. However, the development of new recliners is costly and take much time because it is typically based on experimental evaluation using prototypes. This study presents the evaluation of rear crashworthiness for round recliner using finite element method. That reduces the number of repeating test and gives an information about stiffness. To evaluate rear crashworthiness, the FMVSS 301 simulation and pendulum impact simulation were performed. The load path on two simulations was observed and compared each other in this paper. Also stress, strain and internal energy was compared. It is attempted the tooth strength simulation using a substructure option on PAM-CRASH.

Modeling of vibrations of a rotating pendulum with working shape memory alloy rod has been performed in the frames of a microstructural model taking into account the latent heat release, absorption and the heat exchange during direct and reverse martensitic transformation. It has been shown that the influence of the latent heat, the rate of preliminary deviation of the pendulum from the equilibrium, the rate of heating and cooling can have a significant impact on the vibrations and damping characteristics of the system.

In this paper, weldability and formability of Tailored-Blank (TB) and the structural impact testing of bump beam were investigated to apply TB to automobile bumper beam. The optimal $CO_2$ laser welding condition for TB of SPFC and SPRC steel plates with different thicknesses was obtained. Before welding, the cross section of butt joint was prepared only by shearing without milling process. Real type bump beam was produced by two kind of forming processes such as roll-forming and press-forming, and the good formability of TB was obtained. Impact test results of bump by using pendulum and barrier were satisfied the impact regulation of bump. Finally. It may be confirmed that laser welded TB is well-balanced material in both weight reduction and production cost of automobile bump.
In this study, impact force and angular displacement of the pendulum were measured by the load cell and potentiometer. Mechanical behavior of rough rice under impact loading was able to analyze precisely and efficiently, because measured data were accumulated and handled by the automatic data acquisition system making use of microcomputer system. Impact force and angular displacement were measured with a resolutiln of 1/1500 seconds in time. Mechanical behavior such as force and energy at rupture point of Japonica type and Indica type rough rice were measured with this system. After impact loading, the damage of rough rice was examined with the microphotograph and an allowable impact force was measured. The results obtained in this study are summarized as follows. 1. Machanical behavior of rough rice under impact loading was analyzed precisely and efficiently because measured data were accumulated and handled by this data acquisition system. 2. Rupture force and rupture energy of rough rice were appeared to be the lowest value in the range of 16 to 18 % moisture content, and rupture force and rupture energy of Japonica type were higher than those of Indica type in each level of moisture content. 3. From the result of the damage examined after the impact loading, allowable impact force was the lowest in the range of 16 to 18 % moisture content, and the value of the allowable impact force of Japonica type was higher than that of Indica type in each level of moisture content.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes of various balls velocity under the different surface conditions after impact. For this study, four different balls were used which are golf ball, tang-tang ball, table tennis ball, and iron ball. And two different types of ground conditions were used which are artificial grass green and glass green. Movements of putter head and ball were recorded with 2 HD video cameras(60 Hz, 1/500s shutter speed). Small size control object($18.5cm{\times}18.5cm{\times}78.5cm$) was used in this study. To transfer the same amount of kinetic energy to the ball, pendulum putting machine was used. Analyzing the process of impact and the ball movement, a putter was digitized the whole movement but the ball was digizited within the 50cm movement. Velocities were calculated by the first central difference method(Hamill & Knutzen, 1995). Putter head velocities were about 112.2cm/s-116.2cm/s at impact. Maximum ball velocities were appeared 0.08s-0.10s after impact no matter what the ground conditions are. Table tennis ball recorded higher ball velocities than the other ball velocities and iron ball recorded the lowest ball velocity in this group. But Table tennis ball was influenced with the frictional force and immediately was decreased at the artificial grass green condition. If an object is received the kinetic energy under the static condition(v=0cm/s), the object recorded the maximum velocity shortly after the impact and then decreased the velocity because of the frictional force. The ball distance from the start position to the peak velocity position is about 6cm-10cm under the 112.2cm/s-116.2cm/s putting velocity with putter. 0.25 seconds later after impact balls were placed 40cm distance from the original position except iron ball. In this study, ball moving distances were too short therefore it was not possible to investigate the reactions after the translational force is disappeared. Rotational force would play a major role at the end of the ball movement. Future study must accept two things. One is long distance movement of ball and the other is balanced ground. Three-piece ball is a good item to investigate the golf ball movement on the different surface conditions.

In this paper, a pendulum system is constructed to perform the fundamental research which is concentrated on the various frequency pattern of impact-object simulation tests. Because to reduce injuries of pedestrians, and to satisfy the criterions of the EECV and Euro-NCAP. We analyze the frequency responses to recognize the impact objects. This study will be the basic data to development the smart bumper to protect the pedestrians.
A nondestructive quality inspection technique using acoustic impulse response method was studied to investigate the feasibility of egg shell inspection. An experimental system was built to generate impact force, to measure the response signal and to analyze the frequency spectrum. This system includes an impulse generating unit, an egg holding seat, a microphone with preamplifier, and a digital oscilloscope connected to Personal Computer by RS-232C interface. The factors such as impulse generating method, egg holding method, and sensor location were evaluated by analyzing the power spectrum density of the measured signal. The results obtained are summarized as follows : 1. From the sampled eggs, the proper conditions for detecting damaged eggs were found as followings; ceramic for the impact ball material, rubber for egg seat material, 20 degrees for an impact angle of pendulum, 10mm for the distance between egg and sensor, the sharp side for impacting part, and 180 degrees for the location of sensor. 2. Examination of the Fourier transformed analysis in beth normal and damaged eggs revealed that those factors such as the resonant frequency, a number of peak frequencies and the magnitude of power spectrum were important to detect damaged eggs.
With glass becoming a structural material there is a whole new approach for loading and ensuring the safety of construction. Due to its brittle nature, it is necessary to predict all possible problems so that structural integrity would not be endangered. In this paper, different approaches to modelling the glass elements are presented with references to the advantages, disadvantages, and application of each of them. The intention is clear, there is a need to improve and simplify the design guidelines. Given the increasing use of glass in construction it is not practical to produce experimental tests each time when the verification is needed. Today, architecture is bringing us different types of structures and every project presents a new challenge for engineers. A practical and simple approach is crucial for progress and efficiency. In this paper, different approaches to modelling glass are presented with an emphasis on soft body impact.
A miniature pendular type impact testing machine was designed and developed, adopting a magnetic powder brake in order to investigate tensile and shear behavior of a small solder ball at high speed. In this testing system, the potential energy of the pendulum is transferred into the impact energy during its drop. Then, the impact energy is transmitted through the striker which is connected to the push rods to push the specimen for tensile loading. The tensile behavior of lead-free solder ball in diameter of 760 ${\mu}m$ was successfully investigated in a speed range of 0.15 m/s~1.25 m/s using this designed device. The maximum tensile strength of the solder joint decreases with the loading speed in the testing condition. The maximum tensile strength of the joint was 56 MPa in the low speed region.
