  • The Purpose of this study was to examine the difference among peer orientation according to socio-demographic variables and mothers' rearing behavior of early adolescents and to analyze the effect of these variables influencing peer orientation. The subjects were 399 students-sixth grade and second grade in middle school students, living in Gwangju. The major findings were as follows : 1. Peer orientation of early adolescents showed partial differences according to the socio-demographic variables and mothers' rearing behavior. Peer advice seeking showed significant difference according to child's grade, reasoning guidance, affection and active-education of mother. And extreme peer orientation was difference in the child's grade, sex. family type, reasoning guidance and over-protection of mother. 2. The order in the effective power of variables on peer orientation of early adolescents was as following. Peer advice seeking was influenced by the child's grade and affection that were explained about 21%. And extreme peer orientation was influenced by reasoning guidance. over-Protection. the child's sex, and family type that were explained about 17%. In conclusion, Mothers' rearing behavior was influenced on peer orientations. Above all children's peer orientations are need for the improvement mothers' behavior reasoning guidance. affection.

  • In this paper, we describe the design and implementation of ObjectPeerWork, which is a framework for the development of shared object model-based P2P(Peer-to-Peer) applications. The shared object model can prevent the computing power decrease on the way of resource management by incorporating the resource management function into resources themselves, and raise reliability on shared resources by improving the security problems. Also this model assures expandability by means of distributed component-based request broker manager and module container. The ObjectPeerWork based on this shared object model is a framework which makes the implementation of the enterprise information system possible, and makes distribution of the computing power and efficient resource management possible by improving the weakness in the general P2P model.

  • This study aimed to investigate effects of peer feedback types and feedback acceptance levels on academic achievement in project-based learning. The participants were 70 middle-school students taking an English course. They were divided into corrective and suggestive feedback groups. These participants were asked to create user-created content (UCC) as an individual task and provide peer feedback on a peer's UCC in the same type of feedback group. Results showed that there were significant differences in academic achievement according to peer feedback types (corrective vs. suggestive) and feedback acceptance levels (high vs. low). In particular, the suggestive peer feedback group had higher academic achievement than the corrective peer feedback group. Moreover, the group with a high level of feedback acceptance gained higher academic achievement than the group with a low level of feedback acceptance. Moreover, there was an interaction effect between peer feedback types and feedback acceptance on academic achievement. These results indicate that peer feedback types and feedback acceptance should be considered for effective peer feedback activity. These findings provide practical implications for the design and implementation of peer feedback activity in project-based learning.

  • This paper aims towards designing and implementation of a new adaptive Peer to Peer (P2P) network that cluster itself on the basis of semantic proximity. We also developed an algorithm to classify the nodes to form the semantic groups and to direct the queries to appropriate groups without any human intervention. This is done using Bloom filters to summarise keywords of the documents shared by a peer. The queries are directed towards the appropriate clusters instead of flooding them. The proposed topology supports a system for maintaining a global, omnipresent trust value for each peer in an efficient manner both in terms of decision time and network load.

  • Relationships between peer bullying/victimization, friendship, and self- perception were examined in a sample of 279 fourth, fifth, and sixth grade elementary school students. Data on peer bullying/victimization was collected by peer report using Korean Peer Nomination Inventory; children reported for themselves on the Friendship Quality Scale and the Self-Perception Scale. Children who were involved in peer bullying/victimization reported fewer reciprocal friends and friends similar to themselves; they also showed low friendship quality. Peer victimization was predictable from low perception of social acceptance and friendship satisfaction, while intimacy with friends and high confidence on physical ability predicted peer bullying.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between mother's management behaviors of their children's peer interaction, their beliefs about social skills, recollections of childhood peer relationships, and interpersonal competence. Subjects consisted of 258 mothers of 4- to 5-year-old children. The sample of mothers completed a series of questionnaires assessing their beliefs of social skills, their peer experiences, and the involvement activities of their children's peer relationships. The results indicated that the beliefs about social skills, recollections of childhood peer relationships, and interpersonal competence were associated with the mother's management behaviors. Maternal memories of childhood peer relationships were the best predictor of mother's management behaviors of their children's peer interaction.

  • Recent development in wireless communication technology, like GPS, and mobile equipments, like PDA and cellular phone, make location-based services (LBSs) popular. However, because, users continuously request a query to a server in the LBSs by using their exact locations, privacy information could be in danger. Therefore, a mechanism for users' privacy protection is required for the safe and comfortable use of LBSs by mobile users. For this, we, in this paper, propose a grid-based cloaking area creation scheme supporting continuous LBSs in peer-to-peer environment. The proposed scheme creates a cloaking area by using Chord protocol, so as to support the continuous LBSs in peer-to-peer environment. Finally, we show from a performance analysis that our cloaking scheme outperforms the existing cloaking schemes, in terms of service time.

  • P2P (Peer-to-Peer) network depends on cooperation of peers considerably. However, some peers do not share files at all and only download files. Peers also share low quality files or unpopular files. These selfish behavior of peers is referred to 'free riding'. The free riding of peer may decrease participation of other peers or the system performance. In this paper, we propose an incentive mechanism, called IcMFS (Incentive Mechanism for File Sharing System), which provides the correct use of incentive mechanism using trust peer, computes contribution values referring behavior of peers and rewards peers. The proposed mechanism assigns bandwidth and TTL(Time-To-Live) to a peer and differentiates the use of service. A case study on simulations shows the service differentiation according to the contribution value of peer, the correct use of incentive mechanism using trust peer and the advantage by use of trust peer. To prove the stability of proposed mechanism, we also show the disadvantage that a peer receives from the incorrect use of incentive mechanism.
