  • In this study, a new ensemble average technique was developed to measure cardiac output during treadmill exercise. Each dZ/dt peak (C point) was used as a starting point for ensemble averaging, instead of conventionally used R wave of ECG in order to prevent the peak dZ/dt waveform from blurring. In ease of using R wave as a reference, time interval from R wave to the peak of dZ/dt varies for each heart beat. Stroke volume, heart rate, and cardiac output of five male were successfully measured with Balke protocol using the new ensemble average technique.

  • Selecting Daechung Dam as a sample study site, this study simulates virtual water quality incident which can be occurred using EFDC maintained by USEPA. In order to predict the behavior and diffusion of leaked conservative pollutant within dam under the worst condition, the hydrological data and information from 2008 were used. EFDC was successfully calibrated for observed water level obtained from the above sources. From the results of simulations, even though the concentrations (500 ppm, 1,000 ppm and 10,000 ppm) of leaked pollutant were different with each other at the same sources, the travel time of each peak concentration appeared similar. Also, changing the leak source point from dam gate(0 km) to 7 km, it was found that as leak source point was nearer to the dam gate, the travel time of each peak concentration showed up sooner. It was simulated to take 1 day to 15 days for initial appearance of the leaked pollutant according to the leaked points, and 3 days to 25 days for the reach of the peak concentration, respectively.

  • In this study, vertical acceleration of center of mass was observed along normal gait phases in 9 healthy male volunteers (aged $25.7{\pm}2.18$). The developed wireless accelerometric device was attached on the intervertebral space between L3 and L4 using a semi-elastic waist belt. A three-dimensional motion analysis system, synchronized with the accelerometry, was used for detecting gait phases. There was no significant correlation between the body weight and the acceleration. The first peak curve covered loading response phase. The second downward peak point was matched accurately with the opposite toe-off. In mid-stance and terminal stance, the acceleration curve highly resembled the vertical ground reaction force curve. There was no significant difference in timing between the final upward peak point and the initial contact. Therefore, the developed accelerometry system would be helpful in determining determine temporal gait pattems in patients with gait disorders.

  • This study aims to measure an apparent mass of a seated human body at the sitting posture in a passenger car in the frequency range from 1 to 20 Hz and to investigate the dynamic characteristics. Thirty subjects joined the test where eight levels of acceleration from $0.1m/s^2\;to\;2.0m/s^2$ were used to excite seated human body. Most of apparent mass curves showed two peaks in the frequency range of $4\sim9Hz$, first peak was clearer at the contact point of the seat and the hip, and the second one at the contact point of the backrest and the back. Both peak frequencies were found to move down to lower frequencies with increase of acceleration magnitude. Shapes of apparent mass curves were clearly different from those at erect posture especially in the frequency range around and above the second peak.

  • The behavior of space charge in PE/ionomer blends has been investigated using the thermally stimulated current (TSC) technique. In the blends, at least two TSC peaks over the temperature range from -50 to 100\ulcorner are observed, one at -5 ~ 10\ulcorner (a peak) and the others at above 60\ulcorner (a peak). The a peak is assigned as the orientation of dipoles from the ionomer component. Two a peaks seem to be related to the charge trapping at sites related to the crystalline phases. One a peak is associated with the ionic interfaces and the other with the ethylene chains without the ionic interfaces. The amount of charges stored in PE/Surlyn 1652 blends increases as the poling field increases over the field range of +8 ~ +30 kV/mm, whereas that in PE/Surlyn 1601 blends increases slightly at low poling fields and then decreases at high poling fields above +10 kV/mm. Exact reasons for such a dirrerence are not known at this point.

  • The ohmic characterization of Au/Te/Au/n-GaAs structure is investigated by the application of x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, Auger electron spectroscopy, the specific contact resistance and I-V measurement. Increasing the annealing temperature, the results of XRD measurement show the sharpening of the Au-Ga peak and the increasing of the intensity of Au peak due to the crystallization. At 400$^{\circ}C$, which is the ohmic onset point, Ga$_2$Te$_3$peak gets evident and GaAs regrowth peak appears for the samples annealed at 500$^{\circ}C$. The variation of shottky contact to ohmic contact is confirmed by the I-V curve transition. The specific contact resistance of 3.8x10$\^$-5/$\Omega$-$\textrm{cm}^2$ is obtained for the sample annealed at 500$^{\circ}C$ and above 600$^{\circ}C$ the specific contact resistance increased due to the decomposition of GaAs substrate.

  • In this paper, I have proposed that the 1st and 2nd AC-DC transformation methods using multi-level pulsating currents and selection switches. Through making the rectified voltage of the proposed AC-DC translation which is similar to reference voltage by selecting from multi-level pulsating currents, the proposed translation has dramatically reduced the ripple voltage. I have compared the performance of the DC voltage, the ripple voltage and the peak to peak voltage of the proposed method with the conventional method. The simulation results show that the proposed 2nd method has the better performance than the 1st method in the point of average DC voltage drop and peak to peak voltage increase.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between the occurrence of intermediate peak and time duration, and to conduct a review for the causes of the intermediate peak. In this test, ice impact tests were conducted using a bow side shell frame and ice specimen. A total of 70 samples were manufactured. Two types of ice specimen with relatively different surface conditions were used. The criterion for dividing the two types of ice specimen was the different exposure times to room temperature after freezing. This experiment was conducted for each parameter in order to reproduce the actual icebreaking situation. As a result of the analysis, the intermediate peak in the ice load signal have been found to be caused by mechanisms by which the inner surface of broken ice contact with hull immediately after the initial hitting point of ice has been broken.

  • Chromatin immunoprecipitation coupled with high-throughput DNA sequencing (ChIP-Seq) is a powerful technology to profile the location of proteins of interest on a whole-genome scale. To identify the enrichment location of proteins, many programs and algorithms have been proposed. However, none of the commonly used peak calling programs could accurately explain the binding features of target proteins detected by ChIP-Seq. Here, publicly available data on 12 histone modifications, including H3K4ac/me1/me2/me3, H3K9ac/me3, H3K27ac/me3, H3K36me3, H3K56ac, and H3K79me1/me2, generated from a human embryonic stem cell line (H1), were profiled with five peak callers (CisGenome, MACS1, MACS2, PeakSeq, and SISSRs). The performance of the peak calling programs was compared in terms of reproducibility between replicates, examination of enriched regions to variable sequencing depths, the specificity-to-noise signal, and sensitivity of peak prediction. There were no major differences among peak callers when analyzing point source histone modifications. The peak calling results from histone modifications with low fidelity, such as H3K4ac, H3K56ac, and H3K79me1/me2, showed low performance in all parameters, which indicates that their peak positions might not be located accurately. Our comparative results could provide a helpful guide to choose a suitable peak calling program for specific histone modifications.
