  • This paper proposes a novel crest factor reduction (CFR) algorithm to be deployed on WCDMA basestation. Generally speaking, it is well described that the reduction of peak-to-average ratio (PAR) yields the possibility of using low cost power amplifier such that the basesation becomes economic However, the simple reduction of PAR could degrade the signal quality measured by either peak code domain error (PCDE) or error vector measurement (EVM), and the level of channel interference constrained by adjacent channel leakage ratio (ACLR). Regarding these imperfections, this paper introduces an effective CFR algorithm in which the function of filter-dependent CFR (FDCFR) incorporated with the histogram-based waterfilling code domain compensation (HBWCDC) carries out. To verify the performance of the proposed CFR technique, substantial simulations including comparative works are conducted with obeying W-CDMA basestation verification specification. To exploit the superiority, the performance of the proposed method is tentatively compared with that associated to the simple memoryless clipping method and the memory-required filter-dependent clipping method.

  • During the medical data transmissions, the protection of the patient information is vital. Hence this work proposes a spatial domain watermarking algorithm that enhances the data payload (capacity) while maintaining the authentication and data hiding. The code is distributed at every pixel of the digital image and not only in the regions of non-interest pixels. But the image details are still preserved. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated using several performance measures such as the mean square error (MSE), the mean absolute error (MAE), and the peak signal to noise Ratio (PSNR), the universal image quality index (UIQI) and the structural similarity index (SSIM).

  • Digital watermarking techniques are attracting attention as a proper solution to protect copyright for multimedia data. This paper proposes a new audio watermarking method based on Discrete Cosine Transformation (DCT) and Discrete Wavelet Transformation (DWT) for copyright protection. In our proposed watermarking method, the original audio is transformed into DCT domain and divided into two parts. Synchronization code is applied on the signal in first part and 2 levels DWT domain is applied on the signal in second part. The absolute value of DWT coefficient is divided into arbitrary number of segments and calculates the energy of each segment and middle peak. Watermarks are then embedded into each middle peak. Watermarks are extracted by performing the inverse operation of watermark embedding process. Experimental results show that the hidden watermark data is robust to re-sampling, low-pass filtering, re-quantization, MP3 compression, cropping, echo addition, delay, and pitch shifting, amplitude change. Performance analysis of the proposed scheme shows low error probability rates.

  • This paper describes the RF performance issues of UE RF Transceiver for W-CDMA system based on 3GPP specifications. the parameters of transmitter and receiver are derived from the viewpoint of RF performance. In order for UE to achieve high performance, the transceiver performance requirements such as ACIR, EVM, Peak Code Domain Error, spectrum emission mask, frequency error stability and TX power control dynamic range for transmitter and reference sensitivity level, blocking characteristics, noise figure, ACS, linearity, AGC dynamic range for receiver are considered. On the basis of the required parameters, the UE RF transceiver is designed and then implemented. The evaluation of RF performance is accomplished through practical test scenarios.
