The interspecific estimation for tolerance capacities of upland crop species to excessive soil water stress in paddy field is significant in agricultural practices. Most of upland crops can be damaged by either excessive soil water or capillary rise of the water table during rainy season in paddy fields. The major objective of this study was to evaluate water stress of upland crops under different drainage classes in converted paddy field. This experiment was carried out in poorly drained soil (PDS) and imperfectly drained soil (IDS) of alluvial sloping area located at Toero-ri, Bubuk-myeon, Miryang-si, Gyeongsangnam-do. The soil was Gagog series, which was a member of the fine silty, mixed, nonacid, mesic family of Aeric Endoaquepts (Low Humic-Gley soils). Two drainage methods, namely under Open ditch drainage methods (ODM) and, Closed pipe drainage methods (PDM) were installed within 1-m position at the lower edge of the upper paddy fields. The results showed that sum of excess water days ($SWD_{30}$), which was used to represent the moisture stress index, was 42 days (the lowest) in the PDM compared with 110 days in the ODM. Most of upland crops were more susceptible to excessive soil water during panicle initial stage on more PDS than on IDS. Yield of upland crops in the PDM was continuously increased by the rate of 15.1% on sorghum, 15.4% foxtail millet, 53.6% proso millet, 49.6% soybean and 47.9% adzuki bean as compared in the ODM. The capacity for tolerance by excessive soil water based on yield of each upland crop in the poorly drained sloping paddy fields was the order of sorghum, soybean, foxtail millet, proso millet and adzuki bean. Therefore, Sorghum is relatively tolerant to excessive soil water conditions and, may be grown successfully in converted paddy field.
The aims of the study are first, in other to meet the demand for a new product design process, to review the prototype theory and to find out the conceptual structure of product aesthetics, which is another properly thought to be as important as the typical pattern in an effort to patch up the theory second to help designers overcome the limits of idea generation and create consumer oriented designs with a high success rate by setting up a new product design process that is established through the application of the aesthetically influential factor 'proportion'based on the preceeding studies that tested product aesthetics measuring devices. In other words, this study tries to find out product categories, making use of the prototype theory to introduce an ideal proportion for product design, recognizing the importance of proportion by conducting product pattern analysis: to create a differentiated method that can product consumer oriented designs, even if it only manipulate proportion and to establish a new design process that can systematically explain the methodology for various form generation that applies proportion. This study reviews the theoretical aspects of concepts pertaining to the above … and, based on them, empirically tests them by patting to use the programs, for proportion manipulation. This study was conducted in the following way: To begin with, this study takes out proportion out of some aesthetically influential factors that has a great impact on the way consumers prefer certain product designs and tries to see how proportion affects the consumer preference when consumers select a product. In addition, we could analyze the difference between the ideal proportion that consumers prefer and the traditional golden proportion produced through theoretical studies. The correlations between preferred proportion and ideal proportion, and preferred proportion and golden proportion could be shown. In order that we may create form variations through more detailed proportion manipulation on the basis of the ideal proportion verified as preferable, we again applied the proportion factor to the process utilizing PDS(proportion Distortion System). In the way the restraint of form generation could be pursued. All in all, this study makes an attempt to set up a design process to create new product forms through the application of Proportion.
We developed a reassortant RNA virus vector derived from $Cucumber$$mosaic$$virus$ (CMV), which has advantages of very wide host range and can efficiently induce gene silencing in a few model plants. Certain CMV isolates, however, show limited host ranges presumably because they naturally co-evolved with their own hosts. We used a reassortant comprised of two strains of CMV, Y-CMV and Gn-CMV, to broaden the host range and to develop a virus vector for virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS). Gn-CMV could infect chili pepper and tomato more efficiently than Y-CMV. Gn-CMV RNA1, 3 and Y-CMV RNA2-A1 vector were newly reconstructed, and the transcript mixture of RNA1 and 3 genomes of Gn-CMV and RNA2 genome of Y-CMV RNA2 containing portions of the endogenous phytoene desaturase (PDS) gene (CMV2A1::PDSs) was inoculated onto chili pepper (cv. Chung-yang), tomato (cvs. Bloody butcher, Tigerella, Silvery fir tree, and Czech bush) and $Nicotiana$$benthamiana$. All the tested plants infected by the reassortant CMV vector showed typical photo-bleaching phenotypes and reduced expression levels of $PDS$ mRNA. These results suggest that the reassortant CMV vector would be a useful tool for the rapid induction of the RNA silencing of endogenous genes in chili pepper and tomato plants.

In this paper, partial discharges(PDs), lift off and breakdown voltage were measured when metal particles existed in a model GIS coated with epoxy resin on its bottom electrode, and the measured results were analyzed after comparing with the model DIS not coated. In order to presume the various fault case in GIS, we measured the experimental values with changing some experimental factors, such as the mixture ratio of SF$\_$6//N$_2$, the pressure of the gases, the kinds and diameter of the metal particles, and the coating thickness of the epoxy resin. As a result, the PDIV increased with the thickness of the epoxy resin, while the magnitude of PDs decreased at the same condition. The lift off voltages of steel alloy particles were higher than that of copper particles, and increased wit diameter of particles. Futhermore, the lift off voltages in the case of the electrode coated with epoxy resin were higher than that in the case of the uncoated one. In addition, the thicker the thickness of the epoxy resin was, the higher the breakdown voltage were. Thus, it was confirmed that the GIS coated with epoxy resin on its inner surface could be improved in insulation performance.
The focus of this study is to investigate how personal display system - Head Mounted Display(HMD) and VDU-affect to the body in virtual environments. This prediction was tested by a comparing of playing 3D games while wearing a HMD and monitoring a VDU for an hour. As quantitative measuring and analyzing tools, SSQ, RSSQ, pre and post posture stability test and vision test are used. The results showed that SSQ and RSSQ total score (TS) are related with the results of pre and post posture stability test and SSQ and RSSQ TS of HMD is higher than TS of VDU by one point five times. Especially, TS of MRG3C, having large field of view, has a possibility by two times of simulator sickness (SS). And in order to investigate the degree of SS regarding to the simulator control condition, two conditions, subjective-passive and subjective-active environments were compared. However, there was no significant difference between two environments. The repetition of the same environment has no effect to reduce the SS. Disorientation and oculomotor scores of the SSQ and RSSQ are higher than that of another symptoms. In addition, RSSQ score of strain/confusion is higher than that of nausea. Therefore, we assume that personal fear could possibly increase the simulator sickness in virtual environments.
Objectives The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between gastric emptying measured by ultrasonography and Korean medical instruments of diagnosis and assessment in functional dyspepsia (FD) patients. Among the subgroups of FD, postprandial distress syndrome (PDS) is related to gastric motility disorder. Methods Ten patients with FD and particularly with PDS as well as 10 healthy controls were enrolled in the study from September to November 2015. The gastric emptying shown as the half-life of gastric volume (T1/2) was measured by ultrasonography. The severities of spleen qi deficiency and dyspepsia symptoms were assessed by a spleen qi deficiency questionnaire (SQDQ) and the Nepean Dyspepsia Index-Korean version (NDI-K), respectively. In addition, a food retention questionnaire (FRQ), a damum questionnaire (DQ), a cold and heat questionnaire (CHQ), a deficiency and excess questionnaire (DEQ), and a visual analogue scale (VAS) of distention and fullness were completed by every participant. Results In comparison with the control group, the FD group showed significantly higher scores for the SQDQ, NDI-K, FRQ, DQ, DEQ, and VAS of distention and fullness. T1/2 was also significantly higher in the FD group than in the control group. There were significant correlations between T1/2 and the SQDQ score. However, there were no significant correlations between T1/2 and other questionnaire scores except for one item of the NDI-K.Conclusions According to these findings, it was determined that measuring gastric emptying using ultrasonography could be a quantitative indicator to diagnose spleen qi deficiency in FD patients.
The Pd-Te system has been investigated by differential thermal analysis, X-ray diffration, electron probe microanalysis and reflected light microscopy. New phase relations in 0-50at% Te portion of the binary system are proposed. Eight binary phases exist in the system:Pd17Te4, Pd20Te7.PdsTe3, P477e3, P497e4, P637e2, PeTe and PaTe2. Of these, P677e3 is a newly reported phase. P4177e4 is cubic, space group Fd3c, with a=12.678(5)A. The X-ray powder data of PdsTe3, indexed on an orthorhombic cell, give a= 12.843(3), b=15.126(3), c: 11.304(2)A and those of PdTTe.1, indexed on a monoclinic cell, give a=7.444(1), b= 13.918(2) , c=8.873(2)A. p =92.46(2). Some physical and optical properties of synthetic phases in the system are also reported.
Congenital hypothyroidism (CH) is detected at a rate of 1 in 3,000 to 4,000 live births, making it the most common congenital endocrine disorder worldwide. CH is most commonly caused by defects in thyroid development leading to thyroid dysgenesis or dyshormonogenesis. Congenital hypothyroidism is usually sporadic, but up to 2% of cases of thyroid dysgenesis are familial, and CH caused by organification defects is often inherited in a recessive manner. The candidate genes associated with this genetically heterogeneous disorder fall into two main groups: those causing thyroid gland dysgenesis and those causing dyshormonogenesis. Genes associated with thyroid gland dysgenesis include the TSHR gene in nonsyndromic CH, and Gsa and the thyroid transcription factor (TTF-1, TTF-2, and Pax-8) genes, which are associated with different complex syndromes that include CH. Among genes associated with dyshormonogenesis, the TPO and TG genes were initially described, and more recently PDS, NIS, and THOX2 gene defects. There is some evidence for a third group of CH conditions associated with iodothyronine transporter defects that are, in turn, associated with severe neurological sequelae.
There has been increasing interests of condition monitoring and diagnosis for electric equipment, which lead to the development of this system domestic and abroad. In the past, operators' interest was how to quickly repair and restore the electric equipments after failure. But, due to the North American Blackout in 2003 and the aging of equipments, users have paid attention to the condition based monitoring of electric equipment to prevent a fault like outrage. GIS-PDS("GIS Preventive and Diagnosis System") requiresa large amount of measurement data with timeliness for monitoring and analysis of real-time state of GIS(Gas Insulated Switchgear). We developed the timeliness-guaranteed communication device for GIS-PDS.
A one-year-old male Japanese Chin with anorexia, retching, dyspnea and continuous coughing was brought to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Chungbuk National University. Chest radiographs showed moderate regional alveolar pattern with mild interstitial patterns in the caudo-dorsal lung fields and the ill-defined mass in the perihilar area which is consistent with perihilar lymphadenopathy. Although the dog showed severe eosinophilia in the complete blood count, the serum profile values were within normal ranges. There was no indication of any parasite infestation in the direct and floatation examination of feces, skin scraping test and heartworm examination. There was no growth of bacteria and fungi in the selected media such as Mueller Hinton broth, Sabouraud Dextrose agar and Potato Dextorse agar, which were inoculated with tracheal fluid collected using endotracheal tube and cultured for 3 days. In the tracheal fluid smear, most prominent cells were eosinophils, which are a almost 80% of total cells and other cells such as leukocytes, neutrophils and ciliated colummar cells were also observed. Any parasite was also not detected in its smear. Prednisolone (PDS; 1 mg/kg, BID SC), aminophylline (10 mg/kg, TID IV) and nebulization with gentamicin (50 mg) plus saline (3 ml) were given for 1 week. At 3rd day of treatment, blood eosinophil value was return to normal range and pulmonary condition was also improved. The allergen test with serum performed during therapy was positive in the 19 index including milk, barley, tomato pomace, catfish, bonito, house dust and wool, and borderline in 10 index including wheat, house dust mites and house fly. The patient is responding well to PDS therapy. Based on these findings, a possible diagnosis of pulmonary infiltration with eosinophils was made in this dog.
