The failure strength of composite single-lap joint repaired using scarf patch was investigated by test and finite element method. A total of 45 specimens were tested changing scarf ratio, stacking pattern, and defect size to study the failure strength and mode. Except for one case, all repaired specimens showed the equal or higher strength than the sound specimens and the effect of considered repair parameters was not remarkable. It was found through the failure mode inspection that the surface treatment for bonding was not enough in the case which failed at the lower load than the sound specimen. Three-dimensional finite element analysis was conducted to verify the test results. It was confirmed that the considered repair parameters do not significantly affect the stress distribution of the specimens. It was also observed that the applied tensile load is relieved passing through the overlapped region thickness of which is almost double. From this study, it is concluded that if the bonding procedure for adherends and patch including surface treatment for fabric layer is thoroughly followed, the strength of repaired single-lap joint can be restored up to the strength of sound one.

Purpose: Frontal sinus fractures are relatively less common than other facial bone fractures. They are commonly concomitant with other facial bone fractures. They can cause severe complications but the optimal treatment of frontal sinus fractures remains controversial. Currently, many principles of treatment were introduced variously. The authors present valid and simplified protocols of treatment for frontal sinus fractures based on fracture pattern, nasofrontal duct injury, and complications. Methods: A retrospective chart review was performed on 36 cases of frontal sinus fractures between January, 2004 and January, 2009. The average age of patients was 33.7 years. Fracture patterns were classified by displacement of anterior and posterior wall, comminution, nasofrontal duct injury. These fractures were classified in 4 groups: I. anterior wall linear fractures; II. anterior wall displaced fractures; III. anterior wall displaced and posterior wall linear fractures; IV. anterior wall and posterior wall displaced fractures. Also, assessment of nasofrontal duct injury was conducted with preoperative coronal section computed tomographic scan and intraoperative findings. Patients were treated with various procedures including open reduction and internal fixation, obliteration, galeal frontalis flap and cranialization. Results: 12 patients are group I (33.3 percent), 14 patient were group II (38.8 percent), group III, IV were 5 each (13.9 percent). Frontal sinus fractures were commonly associated with zygomatic fractures (21.8 percent). 9 patients had nasofrontal duct injury. The complication rate was 25 percent (9 patients), including hypoesthesia, slight forehead irregularity, transient cerebrospinal fluid leakage. Conclusion: The critical element of successful frontal sinus fracture repair is precise diagnosis of the fracture pattern and nasofrontal duct injury. The main goal of management is the restoration of the sinus function and aesthetic preservation.
The prefabricated type used generally in Korea to join cable runs on new installations or to repair broken Cable runs on existing installations, because installation is very simple and save time. This type is a permanent, shielded and submersible cable joint for direct burial or vault application. It confirms to the requirements of IEEE std. 404-1993 by factory testing, but many problems of insulated cable systems are caused by internal defects of the joint part which have to be mounted ensile. Faults arise from impurities or voids. A suitable solution for a monitoring of cable joints during the after-laying test and service is partial discharge detection. Specimen obtained 1mm thickness from the insulation of real power cable and cable joint. <중략>The partial discharges are measured to determine their time dependence for 60 minutes and the influence of applied electrical stress under 30kV. $\Phi-q-n$ properties were measured using detection impedance, high pass filter and computerized data acquisition system. Statistic Value like maximum charge, repetition rate, average charge, etc. are calculated. It is possible to quantitative analysis of $\Phi-q-n$ properties from this statistic value and pattern analysis.
This research analyzes the status of clothes purchase and the size fit of the clothes for kindergarten children in the Daegu city area. The total of 344 questionnaires were analyzed. The summary and the conclusion are as follows: First, the frequency of accompanying children when purchasing appeared mostly 'sometimes accompany'. Second, the parents appeared 'sometimes reflect children's opinions'. Third, the main information source was 'store display'. The main place of purchase was large discount stores, internet home-shopping, and department stores (respectively) with significant differences in the age of the parent(p<.05) and monthly incomes(p<.001). In the clothes size selection, 72.1% of the parents selected 'one size larger' at time purchase and showed asignificant difference by monthly income. Repair-experience after purchase appeared in 31.4% of the samples because of the inadequate length and width of the clothes. The unfit clothes parts were in the order of pant length, sleeve length, waist part, jacket length, pant width, hip part, and crotch, which showed a significant difference in children based on gender. The salient purchasing point for child clothing was in the order of 'size fit', 'color and pattern', 'design' and 'convenience in action'. It is important to consider that kindergarten children need adequate size for growing and convenient pattern designs (that include materials at stretching parts) for positive acting because they are in a period of frequent activity and growth.

Background: The EMSY gene encodes a BRCA2-binding partner protein that represses the DNA repair function of BRCA2 in non-hereditary breast cancer. Although amplification of EMSY gene has been proposed to have prognostic value in breast cancer, no data have been available concerning EMSY tissue expression patterns and its associations with clinicopathological features. Materials and Methods: In the current study, we examined the expression and localization pattern of EMSY protein by immunohistochemistry and assessed its prognostic value in a well-characterized series of 116 unselected breast carcinomas with a mean follow up of 47 months using tissue microarray technique. Results: Immunohistochemical expression of EMSY protein was detected in 76% of primary breast tumors, localized in nuclear (18%), cytoplasmic (35%) or both cytoplasmic and nuclear sites (23%). Univariate analysis revealed a significant positive association between EMSY expression and lymph node metastasis (p value=0.045) and larger tumor size (p value=0.027), as well as a non-significant relation with increased risk of recurrence (p value=0.088), whereas no association with patients' survival (log rank test, p value=0.482), tumor grade or type was observed. Conclusions: Herein, we demonstrated for the first time the immunostaining pattern of EMSY protein in breast tumors. Our data imply that EMSY protein may have impact on clinicipathological parameters and could be considered as a potential target for breast cancer treatment.

If slope height was more than 20 meters, we conducted an analysis of stereographic projection and limit equilibrium at this slope. We proposed reduction of slope face angle and reinforcement of rock bolt depending on analysis. Blasting design : Standard pattern based on result of local test blasting was made for blasting design. Vibration criterion was set for less than 3.0mm/s because of outworn buildings and inhabitants opinions. Production blasting and Controlled blasting has been done as Construction standard pattern. After Vibration Monitoring has been done, so that we can control of complement. "Bidding Document" and AASHTO 2001 "A Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets" were so for design criteria of earthwork but they were different actual design criteria and left something to be desired in Afghanistan. Therefore, although "Bidding Document" and "AASHTO 2001" were basic design criteria, domestic design criteria was reflected in this design criteria for complement by discussion with supervisor. Drainage design : For stability ratio, ditch of arch block and stonework was designed by rainfall data for the 13 years and discussion with supervisor. Pavement was designed as flexible pavement. Because these days in Afghanistan postwar repair works, especially urgent repairing of roads and newly making of roads, are very highly in progress, I think that Afghanistan is the region about which our construction technical experts should have great concerns.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the damage patterns and metal structure of 3 phase mold transformers collected from places where accidents have occurred. Compared to an oil-immersed transformer, a mold transformer has the advantage of requiring a smaller installation area and can be kept clean, while its disadvantages include the fact that abnormal symptoms of an accident are difficult to discover and its repair is impossible. The capacity of the mold transformers collected from places where accidents have occurred was 200kVA with primary voltages being F23,900V, R22,900V, 21,900V, 20,900V, 19,900V, etc., as well as secondary voltages being 380V, 220V, etc. It was found from the analysis on the diffusion of combustion in the damaged mold transformers that fire occurred first inside the U-phase primary winding and that carbonization and heat were diffused to V-phase and W-phase in V-pattern. In addition, from the analysis on the cross-sectional structure of the metal of the melted high voltage winding using a metallurgical microscope, it was found that the boundary surface, voids, and columnar structure were formed when an interlayer short-circuit had occurred Therefore, even though it is not possible to find the cause for the occurrence of an interlayer short-circuit at the inner side of the primary winding, it is thought that, due to the thermal energy generated when the short-circuit occurred, the heat source was diffused to the upper side and outside, causing a secondary accident.
Sixteen clinically healthy New Zealand white rabbits of either sex were divided into two equal groups I and II of 8 animals each. Under thiopental sodium (2.5%) anaesthesia a linear full thickness abdominal wall defect of 3 cm in length was created and repaired with continuous suture pattern using 3000 filaments of carbon fibres and 1~0 black braided nylon suture, ingroup I and II respectively. Increased vascularity was observed in carbon fibres (group I) and on day 30 the carbon fibres were covered by white fibrous tissue. Significantly higher (P < 0.05) values of glucose was seen on day 14 in group I, whereas, decrease in glucose value was observed in group II. Histopathologically, the carbon fiber implant induced extensive fibrous tissue (collagen fiber) reaction. Negligible inflammatory cells in the stroma indicate the host tissue tolerance to carbon fibers. Histochemically, gradually increased alkaline phosphatase activity up to day 14 in group I, suggested the proliferation of fibroblasts in early stages.
The interstitial cells of Cajal are the pacemakers in the gastrointestinal tract that modulate gastrointestinal motility. A case of a neonate with intestinal pseudo-obstruction caused by a decreased number of the interstitial cells of Cajal is presented. A premature male infant born at 32 weeks of gestation showed progressive abdominal distention beginning 3 days after initiation of enteral feeding at 15 days of life. No etiologic factors were identified on radiologic studies, a gastrographin enema, and an intestinal biopsy other than a markedly decreased number of the intestinal cells of Cajal. An ileostomy, followed by repair of the ileostomy was done, which resulted in but a limited improvement of the abdominal gas pattern. Respiratory distress, pancytopenia, and abdominal distention persisted, and the infant expired on 142 days of life.
