  • In this paper, we propose a moving target localization algorithm using acoustic spectrograms. A time-versus-frequency spectrogram provide a information of trajectory of the moving target in underwater. For a source at sufficiently long range from a receiver, broadband striation patterns seen in spectrogram represents the mutual interference between modes which reflected by surface and bottom. The slope of the maximum intensity striation is influenced by waveguide invariant parameter ${\beta}$ and distance between target and sensor. When more than two sensors are applied to measure the moving ship-radited noise, the slope and frequency of the maximum intensity striation are depend on distance between target and receiver. We assumed two sensors to fixed point then form a circle of apollonios which set of all points whose distances from two fixed points are in a constant ratio. In case of three sensors are applied, two circle form an intersection point so coordinates of this point can be estimated as a position of target. To evaluates a performance of the proposed localization algorithm, simulation is performed using acoustic propagation program.

  • An 8${\times}$8-Gb/s/channel 4-PAM transceiver was designed for high speed memory applications by using 70nm DRAM process with 1.35V supply. An asymmetric 4-PAM signaling scheme is proposed to increase the voltage and time margin of upper and lower eyes in 3-class eye opening. A mathematical basis shows that this scheme statistically reduces 33% of reference noise effect in a receiver. Also, an adaptive pre-emphasis scheme, which utilizes a lone-bit pulse with integrator at the receiver, is introduced to reduce ISI for a simple DRAM channel. In this scheme, an integrating clock timing calibration by using a pre-determined pattern is proposed for the optimum ISI measurement.

  • This paper presents An efficient method of antenna placement considering EMI(Electromagnetic Interference) between equipments which are mounted on the UAV(Unmanned Air Vehicle). The analysis is accomplished for voice communication radio, control datalink, TCAS(Traffic Alert Collision & Avoidance System) and GPS(Global Positioning System) which are vulnerable to EMI because the frequencies are close to each other. There are two steps for analysis procedure : The first one is selecting antenna position on the UAV by monitoring return loss and pattern variation of each antenna. The second one is analyzing EMI via antennas between equipments. In the EMI analysis, spurious level of each transmitter, coupling level between antennas and system noise property are considered. This procedure can be used to predict EMI between equipments in development stage.

  • In this paper, we propose the face region recognition system for City-Security CCTV(Closed Circuit Television) using hippocampal neural network which is modelling of human brain's hippocampus. This system is composed of feature extraction, learning and recognition part. The feature extraction part is constructed using PCA(Principal Component Analysis) and LDA(Linear Discriminants Analysis). In the learning part, it can label the features of the image-data which are inputted according to the order of hippocampal neuron structure to reaction-pattern according to the adjustment of a good impression in a dentate gyrus and remove the noise through the auto-associative memory in the CA3 region. In the CA1 region receiving the information of the CA3, it can make long-term memory learned by neuron. Experiments confirm the each recognition rate, that are shape change and light change. The experimental results show that we can compare a feature extraction and learning method proposed in this paper of any other methods, and we can confirm that the proposed method is superior to existing methods.

  • In this paper, a design of size-reduced microwave oscillator using common defected ground structure (common DGS) is described. At first, an oscillator is designed using the normal stub resonator, and the conventional DGS patterns are inserted for the first trial of size-reduction. Finally, the DGS resonator section is folded by half size in order to adopt the common DGS, and this produces the proposed size-reduced oscillator. Common DGS pattern is inserted for a better size-reduction than when conventional DGSs are used. The folded transmission line is connected using the 3-dimensional signal via-holes. For an example of design, a 2.1GHz oscillator is designed and fabricated using a small signal transistor and common DGS, which shows the size-reduction of 11 mm. The measurement shows 6.7dBm of output power and -133dBc/Hz@1MHz of phase noise. The measured performances are so similar to those of the oscillators before size-reduction and prove the proposed size-reduction method of oscillators using common DGS.

  • As the walking exercise is emphasized in personalized healthcare, numerous services demand walking information. Along with the propagation of smartphones nowadays, many step-counter applications have been released. But these applications are error-prone to abnormal movements such as simple shaking or vibrations; also, different step counts are shown when the phone is positioned in different locations of the body. In this paper, the proposed method accurately counts the steps regardless of the smartphone position by using an accelerometer and a proximity sensor. A threshold is set on each of the six positions to minimize the error of undetection and over-detection, and the cut-off section is set to eliminate any noise. The test results show that the six position type were successfully identified, and through a comparison experiment with the existing application, the proposed technique was verified as superior in terms of accuracy.

  • The typical ARIMA model which was developed by Box and Jenkins, was applied to the monthly $SO_2$ data collected at Seoungsoo and Oryudong in metropolitan area over five years, 1982 to 1986. To find out the changing pattern of $SO_2$ concentration, autocorrelation and partial autocorrelation analysis were undertaken. The three steps of time series model building were followed and the residual series was found to be a random white noise. The results of this study is summarized as follows. 1) The monthly $SO_2$ series was found to be a non-stationary series which which has a periodicity of 12 months. After eliminating the periodicity by differencing, the monthly $SO_2$ series became a stationary series. 2) The ARIMA seasonal model of the $SO_2$ was determined to be ARIMA $(1, 0, 0)(0, 1, 0,)_{12}$ model. 3) The model equations based on the prediction were: for Seoungsoodong: $Y_t = 0.5214Y_{t-1} + Y_{t-12} - 0.5214Y_{t-13} + a_t$ for Oryudong: $Y_t = 0.8549Y_{t-1} + Y_{t-12} - 0.8549Y_{t-13} + a_t$ 4) The validity of the model identified was checked by compairing the measured $SO_2$ values and one-month-ahead predicted values. The result of correlation and regression analysis is as follows. Seoungsoodong: $Y = 0.8710X + 0.0062 r = 0.8768$ Oryudong : $Y = 0.8758X + 0.0073 r = 0.9512$

  • In magnetic resonance electrical impedance tomography (MREIT), a current-injection MR imaging method is adopted to produce a cross-sectional image of an electrical conductivity distribution in addition to MR images. The purpose of this study was to test the feasibility of MREIT for differentiating the canine lung parenchyma without and with pneumonia. Three normal healthy beagles and two mixed breed dogs with pneumonia were used. After attaching electrodes around the chest, we placed the dog inside our MR scanner. We injected as much as 30 mA current in a form of short pulses into the chest region. Reconstructed conductivity images of normal canine lungs exhibit a peculiar pattern of a relatively coarse salt and pepper noise. On the contrary, conductivity images of pneumonic canine lungs show significantly enhanced contrast of the lesions while the corresponding MR images show a little bit of contrast in the middle and caudal lung parenchyma due to the accumulation of pleural fluid. This preliminary study indicates that MREIT imaging of the chest may deliver unique new diagnostic information.

The survey data were collected by a written questionnaire which made out by themselves for 25 days, from fourth August to 29th August, 2008. Methods: The questionnaire consisted of four categories, general, occupational, working habitual and the daily living characteristics. The collected data were analyzed by Chi-square test based on the present or absent of low back pain. Results: 1. In the general characteristics, low back pain had no significant relationship to all factors, sex, ago, body mass index, weight and height. 2. In the occupational characteristics, the phase of distribution of low back pain had statistical significant differences in the working hours a week, satisfaction of pay, satisfaction of occupation(p<0.05). However low back pain did not significantly related to the kind of occupation, period of work and degree of stress. 3. In the habitual characteristics, low back pain was significantly influenced by working posture, frequency of using lumbar and heavy material lifting, monotonous repetition of working operation and noise(p<0.05). No significant difference was shown in the factor of convenience of chair. 4. In the daily living characteristics, low back pain shown the significant differences in walking time a day, status of health and smoking pattern(p<0.05). there were, however, no significant differences in the aspect of the kind of house and bed, sleeping attitude, driving, riding time on the vehicle, exercising, frequency of cultural life and drinking alcohol. Conclusion: when I see above resultants totally, it appears a higher incidence caused by working environment rather than living habit and then consequently compared to hospital workers, they also have high incidence like others. In order to reduce incidence of low back pain and enjoy the our life we need to educate ourselves preventing program for low back pain and try to effort for preventing of low back pain on each department and individual.

  • In this paper, we propose a compensation method of a non-ideal antenna array and a computationally efficient estimation method of the direction of arrival (DOA) for the antenna array. For DOA estimation, an antenna array is essential. By using the phase difference between the output signals of antennas, we can derive the DOA. In practice, however, mutual coupling between the elements of an antenna array change the beam pattern of each element and degrade the performance of DOA estimation. In the proposed method, we first estimate the DOA for the mid-subarray of the array, where all elements undergo relatively same coupling effect. We use the estimation of signal parameters via rotational invariance techniques (ESPRIT) algorithm to estimate the DOA. Then, we expand the array based on the estimated DOA by compensating the coupling effect. Simulation results show that the proposed method is effective when jamming to noise power ratio (JNR)is relative low.
