This study is aimed to increase the possibility of using the Christopher Alexander's pattern language. The methodology of this study is (i) to analyze the pattern language by using the network analysis tool in order to understand the complicate network structure of the pattern language, and (ii) to apply the Alexander's method of using the pattern language by using the network analysis tool (Gephi) and to examine the feasibility of the network analysis tool as a tool for using the pattern language. Firstly, as a result of analysing the pattern language, (i) the pattern language classified by pattern number is distinguished by the patterns of towns, buildings and construction, among which the pattern of buildings plays a key function in the networks; (ii) the buildings functions a medium connecting between the towns and the construction; and (iii) the pattern language is divided into 6 sub-modules, through which the user can select a pattern. Secondly, the result of using the network analysis tool as a tool for using the pattern language (i) suggests the new method of using the pattern language by using the network analysis tool (Gephi); (ii) makes it possible to easily figure out the characteristics of the links between the patterns; and (iii) increases the completeness of the pattern language by making it easy to find out the sub-patterns in selecting a pattern.

This study reviews the process of creating the patterns through the Christopher Alexander's books to discover the fundamental rules for creation of the pattern language. The essential ideas of 11 rules describing the characteristics of the pattern language are organized by keyword depending on the characteristics of each rule. Then, this study analyzes which keyword was applied importantly and how it had been developed chronologically in the Alexander's books. As a result, 5 keywords - reflection of cultural difference, reflection of human desires, solving the repeated problem, function suitable for principal purpose, and network structure - are applied to his early books in which the pattern language was theoretically developed, the pattern of traditional society was discovered and the network structure was developed. Another 5 keywords - user participation method, new problem solving, structure preserving transformation, post-mechanization method, and central invariant structure - are applied to the books in his mid-term after completion of the pattern theory which discover new pattern for contemporary society and apply the pattern language to time and space. In his later books which organize the theory of pattern language and suggest the direction for using the pattern language, 5 keywords - wholeness, post-mechanization method, user participation method, new problem solving, and structure preserving transformation - are applied. Users may use the pattern language more precisely if he/she considers the keywords of the early period in searching the patterns of existing environment, the keywords of the intermediate period in searching the patterns of new environment or in regard to time and space, and the keywords of the later period in considering direction of the application of the pattern language.

This study started with the aim of creating a parenting environment for raising children as a solution to the problem of low fertility. Communal housing is a type of housing where professional childcare environment and lives of family with children can be achieved in community space. It is an environment that supports the development of the child and life of family. However, there is no guidance system for planning such an environment. Therefore, this study aims to develop a pattern language for communal housing of families with children. The research method comes in two steps. First, the documents that provided pattern language and design guidelines about the environment of child and families with children were analyzed. Second, experts specialized in child education, women and family, environmental design were interviewed. As a result of analysis of characteristics of derived pattern language, convenience, safe feeling, comfortability in residential unit, movement, safe feeling, convenience in intermediate space convenience, safe feeling, control in community space were high. The pattern language of this study grafted the items that have proven to be important over a long period of time and the environmental design concepts for families with children in the community space. So it enabled differentiation from existing pattern language or design guidelines.

Modern functional languages provide some forms of pattern matching capability in them. However, these forms are on an ad-hoc basis and vary from languages to languages, making the user hard to understand the feature. To overcome this problem, we present a systematic approach to adding pattern matching to functional language. We extend to the core functional language with pattern matching capability and illustrate several examples of the language. We also discuss how to extend the pattern matching capability to higher-order terms.

Objectives: This paper aims to investigate the Donguibogam-based pattern diagnosis by applying natural language processing and machine learning. Methods: A database has been constructed by gathering symptoms and pattern diagnosis from Donguibogam. The symptom sentences were tokenized with nouns, verbs, and adjectives with natural language processing tool. To apply symptom sentences into machine learning, Word2Vec model has been established for converting words into numeric vectors. Using the pair of symptom's vector and pattern diagnosis, a pattern prediction model has been trained through Logistic Regression. Results: The Word2Vec model's maximum performance was obtained by optimizing Word2Vec's primary parameters -the number of iterations, the vector's dimensions, and window size. The obtained pattern diagnosis regression model showed 75% (chance level 16.7%) accuracy for the prediction of Six-Qi pattern diagnosis. Conclusions: In this study, we developed pattern diagnosis prediction model based on the symptom and pattern diagnosis from Donguibogam. The prediction accuracy could be increased by the collection of data through future expansions of oriental medicine classics.

Built-up environments by humans are cultural byproducts which combine social ideology and architectural paradigm. The process of modernization in the Western countries has the characteristic of decisive paradgm based on materialism. Therefore, environmental design in modern world failed to focus on the essential features of humanity which are the subject of space and replaced it for objective and unilateral architectural environments, instead. Environment without supporting the human psychological and complicated behaviorism is as same as the hardware without the vitality. under these regards, this study will cover the design approach of pattern language as a design method of environment design. The purpose of design approach by pattern language lies in creating the space of flexibility, adaptability and strong vitality. It is summed up as humanization in space and it helps the user to verbalize individualized space language for their own. The range and method of in the study attribute to the pattern language of Christopher Alexander and a researcher' method on them. In premise that human behavior ought to the multilateral and indefinite under rapid change of circumstances in modern world, th study tried to find the design method stimulating creative behavior of human being.

This paper describes our ongoing Korean-Chinese machine translation system, which is based on verb patterns. A verb pattern consists of a source language pattern part for analysis and a target language pattern part for generation. Knowledge description on lexical level makes it easy to achieve accurate analyses and natural, correct generation. These features are very important and effective in machine translation between languages with quite different linguistic structures including Korean and Chinese. We performed a preliminary evaluation of our current system and reported the result in the paper.

In this paper, I made a comparative study of design process of Kuryong-Ri, Keumsong-Myun, Chechon City, Chungbuk Province which is one of rural communities in Korea and framing process of master plan for Hama street at Sirahama town on Wakayama Ken, famous hot-bath resort in Japan. Both processes have common points to adopt identical design philosophy and method called 'Pattern Language'. The aim of this study to provide valuable reference for applying at community design by the people in the future, though analyzing common and unlike points, laying stress on the process of user-participation rather than its final results. It is possible confirm Pattern Language is effective tool for carrying out community design by the people.

본 논문은 가로 활성화를 위한 가로환경디자인 분석으로 인사동길의 패턴 언어를 분석한 것이다. 보행자 가로, 공원, 광장과 같은 도시 공공공간은 급속한 도시화와 산업화로 인하여 증가하고 있다. 그러나 실제로 사용자의 행동 패턴을 만족하는 공간은 많지 않다. 이는 사람과 공공공간의 공간적 질에 대한 충분한 고려없이 형식적인 공급과 관리 방향에만 치중했기 때문이다. 본 연구의 목적은 크리스토퍼 알렉산더의 패턴 언어를 적용하여 인사동길의 분석을 통하여 활력이 넘치고 다양한 거리를 만들고, 지역의 특성을 부여하는 요소들을 찾는 것이다. 그러므로 시대별로 변화되어온 도시 가로환경의 가치인식 변화를 통하여 공공공간의 공간적 특성을 선별하고, 각각의 공간적 특성에 적합한 패턴 언어를 선별하여 가로환경디자인 분석을 위한 기준을 마련한다. 연구결과, 인사동길을 중심으로 패턴 언어와의 관계를 살펴보면 거리 활성화에 영향을 미치는 패턴 언어는 보행자 거리(100), 건물의 정면(122), 활동의 결절점(30) 등 16개로 분석되었다. 따라서 본 논문은 패턴 언어를 통하여 인사동길의 가로환경디자인 분석에 초점을 맞추고 가로활성화에 도움이 되는 가이드라인과 평가 기준을 제안하고자 한다.

본 논문에서는 한글의 형태소 분석에 기초한 청각장애자용 수화영상 변환시스템을 제안하였다. 제안된 시스템은 입력 문자열에 대해 형태소 분석에 의한 음운성분과 접속정보를 추출한 다음, 이에 대응한 수화영상을 구축된 수화영상 데이터베이스를 통하여 정확히 출력한다. 효과적인 수화영상변환을 위해 입력문자열에 대한 형태소 분석부와 수화패턴 참조를 위한 수화언어기술부로 이루어진 언어정보기술사전을 구성하였다. 수화패턴은 중복을 피하기 위해 기본수화, 복합수화 그리고 유사수화단어로 분류하여 작성하였으며, 실험을 통해 제안된 시스템의 유용성을 확인하였다.
