  • Human voice reacts very sensitively to human's minute physical condition. For instance, human voice disorders affect patients profoundly especially in the case of Parkinson's disease. Acoustic tools such as MDVP, can function as an equipment that measures various voice in different objects. Many different approaches have been applied for analyzing the voice disorders for diagnosis of Parkinson's disease. According to the voice data of suspected Parkinson's patients from UCI Machine Learning Repository, it is reported to have 23 people with Parkinson's disease and 8 healthy people. Applying Mahalanobis Taguchi System (MTS) for diagnosis of Parkinson's disease, the correct diagnosis performance is compared to previous research results.

  • Objectives: This study aimed to examine factors that affect chronic illness anticipated stigma among patient living with Parkinson's disease. The attributes of stigma measured in this study were labeling, expectation of prejudice, negative stereotyping, and discrimination. Chronic illness anticipated stigma was correlated with measures of mental and physical health as well as certain health behaviors. Methods: The sample included 250 adults with idiopathic Parkinson's disease that attended D university hospital in B metropolitan city from June to August 2014. Results: The chronic illness anticipated stigma were significantly correlated to depression, anxiety, Schwab & England ADL, Hoehn & Yahr stage, and age. The significant predictors of chronic illness anticipated stigma were anxiety, depression, and age. These factors accounted for 47% of variance in chronic illness anticipated stigma. Conclusions: In order to reduce the chronic illness anticipated stigma, nurse involved in the treatment and care of patients with Parkinson's disease should encourage patients to attend programs of depression and anxiety management in Parkinson's disease and systemic education programs on stigma.

  • Objective This case study was about a long-term clinical effects after using Korean medicine treatment and western treatment in three Soyangin patients with Parkinson's disease. In this study, we reported significant improvement of non-motor and motor symptoms of these patients after Sasang constitutional medicine treatments for more than a year. Method The patients were identified as Soyangin and treated with Yangguksanhwa-tang, Hyeongbangdojeok-san and acupuncture. The Hoehn & Yahr scale, Movement Disorder Society-sponsored revision of the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) were used to assess the overall function of the patients. And the Global Assessment Scale (GAS) was used to assess the change of chief complaints after the treatments. Result and Conclusion The non-motor and motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease improved after Sasang constitutional medicine and western medicine treatments for more than a year. Furthermore these patients' chief complaints improved without increasing of amount of western medicine (levodopa). In conclusion, this study showed that Sasang constitutional medicine with western medicine can be effective treatment for long-term clinical care of Parkinson's disease.

  • Purpose: To investigate whether there are significant changes in regional brain metabolism in patients with Parkinson's disease after thalamotomy using proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (lH MRS). Methods: Fifteen patients with Parkinson's disease of mean age 56.5 years (7 males and 8 females; mean age, 56.5 years) that have treated with levodopa were included. All patients with tremor experienced amelioration of their symptoms on the side contralateral to the thalamotomy. As a single-voxel technique, 1H MR spectra were obtained from the volume of interested regions in thalamus and primary motor cortex. Spectral parameters were: 20 ms TE, 2000 ms TR, 128 averages, 2500 Hz spectral width, and 2048 data points. Results: We found that NAA/Cho ratios showed generally low levels in thalamus in Parkinson's disease patients with clinical improvement following thalamotomy. Conclusions: 1H MRS may be a useful utility for the aid in better understanding the pathophy-siologic process in Parkinson's disease patients on the basis of the variation of NAA/Cho ratio. • Objectives : Parkinson's disease is a chronic neuron-degenerative disease. The medication of dopamine, one of the most common treatment for the disease, has effects of improving the symptom, but when taken for a long term, the medicine brings about side-effects such as the phenomenon of medicinal efficacy disappearance and dyskinesia. In addition, it doesn't have any effects in slowing down or stopping the development of Parkinson's disease. Methods : Accordingly, this study aims to investigate the clinical cases to stop or improve the development of Parkinson's disease by carrying out an independent treatment with Oriental medicine and a combined treatment with Western and Oriental medicines respectively for over 6 months. Results and Conclusions : The results of the study is expected to be an important precedent for the treatment of neuron-degenerative diseases of cranial nerve including Parkinson's disease in the future.

  • Parkinson's disease is representative degenerative diseases of the nervous system, which is from deficiency of dopamine neurons to pass in which the gradual degeneration of the body. In this paper, open UCI repository data of Parkinson's patients is used for experiments. The classification based on correlation analysis is examined. In addition, the relationship between groups is differentiated by cluster analysis based on patients with Parkinson's disease by apriori algorithm and correlation analysis. It is used to find the properties that distinguish cluster analysis. Though the disease is the same in the basic structure, each group is compared as each gender group with the most distinctive part of the characteristics.
