  • This report is closely related to ${\ulcorner}$Simple question Five Qi Anouncement${\lrcorner}$ that you shouldn't take a Hot Taste excessively in case of Qi pathology because a Hot Taste runs to Qi, you shouldn't take a Salty Taste excessively in case of Blood pathology because a Salty Taste runs to Blood, you shouldn't take a Bitter Taste excessively in case of Bone pathology because a Bitter Taste runs to Bone, you shouldn't take a Sweet Taste excessively in case of muscles pathology because a Sweet Taste runs to Muscles, you shouldn't take a Sour Taste excessively in case of Sinews pathology because a Sour Taste runs to Sinews. Also the report mainly describes to relations between Five Tastes and BloodVessel-Organs of human body, to pathological change of a Five Tastes' one-sided diet or taking too much, and to various disease caused by that. And the section is called 'An Essay on Five Tastes', that Five Tastes of food and medicines could make human body either healthy or damaged so you should be careful. This report is divided into two chapter, the first chapter presents to specific diseases according to runnings of Five Tastes, the second chapter shows the pathological process how the human body would change and what kind of disease attacts human body as result of taking Five Tastes. So this section is important remarkably as a viewpoint of food and medicines.

  • We experienced a case of well-differentiated acinic cell carcinoma of the parotid gland in a 65 year-old woman, which was correctly diagnosed preoperatively by fine needle aspiration(FNA) cytology. FNA cytology smears showed clusters or sheets of monomorphic acinic cells having reticulated or finely vacuolated basophilic or acidophilic cytoplasm. The cellular population was homogeneous or slightly polymorphic, having centrally located, round nuclei with finely reticular chromatin and inconspicuous nucleoli. Herein we report this case with its histologic features and review of literatures.

  • Pigmented villonodular synovitis is a destructive, fibrohistiocytic proliferation producing innumerable villous and nodular synovial protrusions. Its common locations are knee, ankle, foot, and hip. Although histologic feature of this tumor is well known, there have been few reports on the fine needle aspiration cytology findings. We report the cytologic features of a biopsy-proven case oi pigmented villonodular synovitis. The patient was a 21-year-old male with a mass of the right knee for 2 years. On fine needle aspiration cytology, the aspirates was composed of abundant mononuclear histiocytic cells, singly and in clusters, multinucleated slant cells, and hemoslderin pigments.

  • Small cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder is a rare tumor which occurs in about 0.48 % of all bladder tumors. We report cytologic features of small cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder in a 66-year-old man who had painless total gross hematuria, which was confirmed by partial cystectomy. In urine cytology, abundant tumor cells appeared in scattered and clustered forms in a bloody background. The tumor cells were small and uniform in size with a high nuclear/cytoplasmic ratio. The nuclei of the tumor cells were hyperchromatic, characteristically molded and showed inconspicuous nucleoli. The cytoplasms were scanty and pale blue.

  • Plexiform fibromyxoma (PF) of the stomach is a very rare mesenchymal tumor of the gastrointestinal tract. We report the first case of PF with 2 different growth patterns pathologically confirmed after surgical resection. The tumor was characterized microscopically as infiltrative; it demonstrated diffuse growth into the smooth muscle bundles of the muscularis propria and was also multinodular and plexiform within the myxoid stroma. Immunohistochemical analysis revealed that the tumor cells were positive or weakly positive for smooth muscle actin, vimentin, and H-caldesmon and negative for desmin, CD117, CD34, CK-20, Pan-CK, Dog1, S100, ER, PR, and CD10. No mutations of C-kit and platelet-derived growth factor receptor alpha were detected. No genetic disruption of glioma-associated oncogene homolog 1 was detected by fluorescence in situ hybridization. The final diagnosis of PF was mainly based on the morphological and immunohistochemical findings.

  • The authors developed a comfortable program for routine work of surgical pathology. We used IBM PC(80386) and Foxbase plus program. The main function of this program was automatic coding and concurrent surgical report printing. During gross printing, previous biopsy number and its diagnosis were automatically searched and printed below gross description. The reported datas were stored during surgical report printing simultaneously, and thus the typist's workload became considerably reduced. Search for specific cases could be performed by patient's name, surgical number, hospital number, diagnostic code numbers(SNOMED code microglossary), and certain disease entities on very short duration.
