  • In order to properly evaluate ITS services exposed in SMART Highway project, a confident dynamic origin-destination (OD) is inevitably needed. This paper used WAVE communication information as a part of call and response (C&R) communication which constitutes core part of the technology for constructing OD. This information includes node information and vehicle information (e.g., latitude and longitude) as well as trajectory data and sample path volume date calculated using node information and vehicle information. A procedure developed to construct a dynamic OD and to validate OD is consist of 1) making toy network and one-hour 00 (random distribution), 2) collecting link information and vehicle information, 3) constructing five-minute OD, and 4) validating estimated OD result using traffic volume and travel time simultaneously. The constructed OD is about 84.79% correct within less than 20% error range for 15min traffic volume, and about 85.42%, within less than 20% error rate of 15 min travel time. Some limitations and future research agenda have also been discussed.

  • Linear GPA(Gas Path Analysis) and non-linear GPA programs for performance diagnostics of a turboprop engine were developed, and a study for selection of optimal measurement variables was performed. Simultaneous faults in the compressor, the compressor turbine and the power turbine, which occur damage of the engine, were assumed. The non-linear GPA analysis was carried out with an iterative method, where the performance degradation rate of independent parameters was divided into same intervals. It was compared with the result by the Newton-Raphson method for observing the effect of an iterative method. According to the analysis result, it was found that performance of non-linear GPA can be influenced on the type of the iterative method. For showing effects of the number of measurement variables both the linear and non-linear GPAs were analyzed with 10, 8 and 6 measurement sets, respectively. RMS error between them were compared each other. It was realized that the more measurement parameters are used, and the more accurate result may be obtained. However much better result can be obtained with measurement parameters selected properly Moreover, RMS error by using non-linear GPA was less than that by using linear GPA.

  • In this paper, a double-input single-output architecture of a LNA(Low Noise Amplifier) is presented to enable to be devised for light weight and small-sized OTM(On-The-Move) satellite communication system suitable to be mounted on vehicles. In spite of advantages of the double-input single-output architecture of a LNA such as reduction of the number of physical channels, it results in time-varying phase error between a fundamental mode path and a high-order mode path. This paper shows that the error can be corrected by adding pilot signals to the LNA and using signal processing, and also gives the measurement data to use the method mentioned above.

  • This paper presents a searching method of corresponding points robust to rotational error for scan-matching used for SLAM(Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) in mobile robot. A differential driving mechanism is one of the most popular type for mobile robot. For driving curved path, this type controls the velocities of each two wheels independently. This case increases a wheel slip of the mobile robot more than the case of straight path driving. And this is the reason of a drifting problem. To handle this problem and improves the performance of scan-matching, this paper proposes a searching method of corresponding points using extraction of a closest point based on rotational radius of the mobile robot. To verify the proposed method, the experiment was conducted using LRF(Laser Range Finder). Then the proposed method is compared with an existing method, which is an existing method based on euclidian closest point. The result of our study reflects that the proposed method can improve the performance of searching corresponding points.

  • In a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN), the wireless data transmission environment plays an important role in system performance. In the proposed mobility model moving distance of sensor nodes has a great influences on communication performance. Transmission/receiving distance (d), path loss (L), sensitivity, Bit Error Rate (BER), Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) are considerations when designing a wireless communication system. MANET is a form of network in which only wireless terminals communicate with each other independently and move without any assistance of an existing infrastructure network. This paper is research on the optimized power usage method which is study on the effect of the moving distance of mobile nodes on the overall energy efficiency of the system in WSN. The purpose of this study is to extend the life of the entire network by proposing the mobile distance of sensor nodes within the communication available range.

  • There are a variety of apps that are finding their way. And in car navigation, we launched a product that reflects Augmented Reality technology this year. However, existing apps have problems. It is implemented in 2D or 3D, has a large error range because it has been modified in most vehicles, is not updated in real time, and car augmented reality navigation is a vehicle, and a separate device is required, etc. In this study, we implemented a smartphone app for walking directions using augmented reality, and made it possible to intuitively use a route service from a user 's location to a destination. The Dijkstra algorithm is applied to calculate the shortest path to solve the problem of finding the route with the least cost. By using this application, it is possible to use the route search service even in a data-free environment, to solve the inconvenience of the language barrier, and to update in real time, so that the latest information can be always maintained. In the future, we want to develop an app that can be commercialized by using a character in the path to promote it.

  • One dimensional performance model has been used for the design of torque converter. The model is based on the concept of constant mean flow path and constant flow angle. These constant-assumed para meters make the design procedure to be simple. In practice, some parameters are usually replaced with geometric raw data and, the constant experiential correction factors have been used to minimize the design error. These factors have no definite physical meaning and so they cannot be applied confidently to the other design condition. In this study, the detail dynamic model of torque converter is presented to establish the theoretical background of correction factors. To verify the validity of theoretical model, steady state performance test was carried out on the several input speed. The oil temperature effect on the performance is analysed and adjusted. The constant equivalent flow angles are determined at a part of performance region by comparing the theoretical model and the test data. The sensitivity of correction factors to the input speeds are studied and the change of torus flow is presented.

  • To enhance the acceleration performance and fuel consumption rate of a vehicle, the torque converter is modified or newly-developed with reliable analysis model. Up to recently, the one dimensional performance model has been used for the analysis and design of torque converter. The model is described with constant parameters based on the concept of mean flow path. When it is used in practice, some experiential correction factors are needed to minimize tole estimated error. These factors have poor physical meaning and cannot be applied confidently to the other specification of torque converter. In this study, the detail dynamic model of torque converter is presented to establish the physical meaning of correction factors. To verify the validity of model, performance test was carried out with various input speed and oil temperature. The effect of oil temperature on the performance is analysed, and it is applied to the dynamic model. And, to obtain the internal flow pattern of torque converter, CFD(Computational Fluid Dyanmics) analysis is carried out on three-dimensional turbulent flow. Correction factors are determined from the internal flow pattern, and their variation is presented with the speed ratio of torque converter. Finally, the sensitivity of correction factors to the speed ratio is studied for the case of changing capacity factor with maintaining torque ratio.

  • This study experimentally demonstrates the use of active muffler attached to the automotive exhaust system to reduce exhaust noise. For improving the signal to noise ratio in the process of estimation of secondary path transfer functions, the on-line algorithm that conventional inverse modeling is combined with adaptive line enhancer is used as the control algorithm. Active muffler is designed that the primary noise and the control sound are propagated as a plane wave in the outlet. Therefore, the error microphone could be placed out of the tail pipe center of a high temperature and the radiation noise to the outside could be reduced in the whole area around the outlet. The control experiment for reducing exhaust noise with active muffler is implemented during run-up at no load. From the experimental results presented, compared with the conventional off-line method, the proposed on-line method is capable to acquire a reduction of exhaust noise above 5 dB in overall sound power level.
