  • The planning of circulation area and circulation path are very important elements for layout of interior space of housing. This study is, therefore, aimed at synthetical review of that area from a functional, structural and socio-cultural point of view as well as typological analysis of that area. In the interior space of housing the networking of spaces according to the circulation route imply divers aspects of independent or dependant significances. It is thus, closely related with to whether circulation area open or closed, whether circulation path concentrated or distributed, and whether it passes Individual rooms or not. With regard to relationship with public and private spaces, there are many grounds for combining each other. This study also tried to develope program for planning of circulation system, utilizing typological analysis of them. At the same time this study suggests examples for layout of housing spaces. It is expected that the results represented In the form of systematic diagram will deserve to be a tool for providing an appropriate solution to the problem of diversity of user's needs.

  • As populations inhabiting in natural ecosystem are fragmented by artificial barriers and habitats are destructed by development, extinction possibility of species is getting higher. It is necessary to design and to manage conservation areas and corridors considering animals' movement and migration for sustainable species diversity in present circumstances. 'Least-cost modeling' is one commonly employed approach in which dispersal costs are assigned to distinct habitat types and the last-costly dispersal paths among habitat patches are calculated using a geographical information system (GIS). This study aims to design ecological corridor using least-cost path method and to apply it to a regional ecological network considering movability of medium-large size mammals. This study was carried out over the metropolitan area, which has been deforested by rapid urbanization. Nevertheless there is connected with Gangwon province, Baekdudaegan mountain range and DMZ, considered where many forest species can migrate to this region. This study employs such an approach to develop least-cost path models for medium-large size mammals, have inhabited for this entire region. Considering those species, two forest areas as a source of species supply and forest areas more than 1,000ha are selected as focal forest areas. Movement and migration paths from species supply sources to focal forest areas are calculated by applying landscape permeability theory using land cover map, road density map and land slope map. Results showed least-cost paths from species supply sources to focal forest areas on two species. Wildcat and roe deer are different in some least-cost paths caused by their landscape permeability but paths show generally same specifics. The result of considering regional distribution of expected movement and migration paths to regional ecological network, low altitude mountains of western metropolitan area are evaluated important area for species connectivity. In national or regional levels ecological connectivity is essential to promote species diversity and to preserve integrated ecosystem. This study concludes that developing least-cost models from similar empirical data could significantly improve the utility of these tools.

  • Multi antenna techniques using space-time codes can achieve diversity gains in a multi-path environment without additional bandwidth requirement. Most of the 4G candidate standards including the IEEE 802.16e adopt multi-input multi-output (MIMO) schemes to achieve either high throughput performance or diversity gains. In these 4G candidate standards, turbo codes using an iterative decoder with soft input soft output are used to overcome serious channel fading. For this reason, the estimated signal values from MIMO detectors should be soft decision detection values. In this paper, we propose efficient methods to estimate soft decision detection values for various space time coding schemes, and provide the simulation results of turbo coded space time coding scheme over an IEEE 802.16e link.

  • This paper improves the effects of clustered OFCDM scheme considering the frequency diversity effect over a frequency selective fading channel. In OFCDM with frequency domain spreading compared to OFDM, we can increase uncorrelated symbols by frequency allocation method of correspondent symbols over the same antenna and different antenna after spreading. The simulation results show that the performance of proposed system is improved by approximately 4 dB in ${\sigma}=0.02{\mu}sec$, the performance is improved by approximately 2.5dB in large delay spread in a 12-path Rayleigh fading channel with overall the root mean squared delay spread and the maximum Doppler frequency of 20 Hz. Also, the required average received Eb/No at the average BER of $10^{-3}$ by optimum method is improved by approximately 2.0 dB, compared to that of STA-OFCDM with frequency rearrange. The new method does not require any bandwidth expansion any feedback from the receiver to the transmitter and its computation complexity is similar to clustered OFCDM.

  • In a cooperative communication system with a source node and multiple relays equipping single antenna and a destination node equipping multiple antennas, the selective cooperative spatial multiplexing scheme can obtain spatial multiplexing gain and additional selection diversity gain. But it can degrade a bit error rate performance because some received symbols forwarded from particular relays may be lost by attenuation due to path-loss. We propose a relay and transmission mode selection scheme which selects minimum number of multiple relays having the channel capacity larger than a given data rate and transmission mode which switches spatial multiplexing and spatial diversity mode in cooperation phase to enhance the bit error rate performance. The proposed scheme achieves 1.5~2dB gain at the low SNR range compared with the conventional scheme by obtaining additional spatial diversity gain.

  • Cooperative diversity is an effective technique to combat multi-path fading. When this technique is applied to energy-constrained wireless sensor networks, it is a key issue to design appropriate relay selection and power allocation strategies. In this paper, we proposed a new multi-relay selection and power allocation algorithm to maximize network lifetime. The algorithm are composed of two relay selection stages, where the channel condition and residual power of each node were considered in multi-relay selection and the power is fairly allocated proportional to the residual power, satisfies the required SNR at destination and minimizes the total transmit power. In this paper, proposed algorithm is based on AF (amplify and forward) model. We evaluated the proposed algorithm by using extensive simulation and simulation results show that proposed algorithm obtains much longer network lifetime than the conventional algorithm.

  • In this paper, we propose multicarrier CDMA system using the concept of the modulation level-controlled system in order to make the system robust to the frequency selectivity and to provide a maximum data rate maintaining an acceptable transmission quality over various channel environments. This system selects higher data rate when the channel experiences the low delay spread and slow fading. On the other hand, when the fading changes very fast and the delay spread is very long, the system selects lower data rate. In both cases, the system controls the number of serial-to-parallel converted streams and the number of fed streams. This system has the fixed number of sub-carriers. So the product of tile number of serial-to-parallel converted streams and the number of fed streams is always kept constant. With the same data fed at different sub-carriers, the frequency diversity is achieved. And a RAKE receiver also is utilized to achieve path (time) diversity.

  • In order to extend cell coverage and to cope with shadow areas, a relay-assisted wireless communications system has been widely studied. In this paper, we propose new equalization method for single carrier (SC) frequency domain equalizer (FDE) in amplify-and-forward (AF) relaying multi-path networks to improve the performance at shadow areas. The performance of SC-FDE system in 3-slot based multi-path networks can be improved considerably with the diversity gain which we obtain by equalizing the combined signal from relays by means of the minimum mean square error (MMSE) criteria. We find the weighting coefficients of maximum ratio combining (MRC) and the tap coefficients of MMSE equalizer for SC-FDE in AF relaying multi-path networks. Simulation results show that the proposed system considerably outperforms the conventional SC-FDE system.

  • Many CDMA systems provide pilot channels in order to help channel estimation process. Especially in wideband CDMA systems, the number of receive diversity paths can be large due to small chip duration and high multi-path resolution capability. Hence, the received signal power of each path is small for a given total SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) and the pilot power of each path may not be sufficiently large for accurate channel estimation. When the pilot power is small, one can use decision-directed channel estimation to utilize more energy of the received data. However, the decision errors can deteriorate the quality of decision-directed channel estimation. This paper proposes a novel channel estimation method that optimally utilizes receiver decisions as well as pilot symbols with the help of estimated SER (symbol error rate) and SNR. The proposed method computes two channel estimates using the pilot and the data channel filters and optimally combines them. The simulation results show that the proposed method is robust and outperforms the conventional pilot-symbol-aided channel estimation method.

  • Large scale protein interaction maps provide a new, global perspective with which to analyse protein function. PSIMAP, the Protein Structural Interactome Map, is a database of all the structurally observed interactions between superfamilies of protein domains with known three-dimensional structure in thePDB. PSIMAP incorporates both functional and evolutionary information into a single network. It makes it possible to age protein domains in terms of taxonomic diversity, interaction and function. One consequence of it is to predict the most important protein domain structure in evolution. We present a global analysis of PSIMAP using several distinct network measures relating to centrality, interactivity, fault-tolerance, and taxonomic diversity. We found the following results: ${\bullet}$ Centrality: we show that the center and barycenter of PSIMAP do not coincide, and that the superfamilies forming the barycenter relate to very general functions, while those constituting the center relate to enzymatic activity. ${\bullet}$ Interactivity: we identify the P-loop and immunoglobulin superfamilies as the most highly interactive. We successfully use connectivity and cluster index, which characterise the connectivity of a superfamily's neighbourhood, to discover superfamilies of complex I and II. This is particularly significant as the structure of complex I is not yet solved. ${\bullet}$ Taxonomic diversity: we found that highly interactive superfamilies are in general taxonomically very diverse and are thus amongst the oldest. This led to the prediction of the oldest and most important protein domain in evolution of lift. ${\bullet}$ Fault-tolerance: we found that the network is very robust as for the majority of superfamilies removal from the network will not break up the network. Overall, we can single out the P-loop containing nucleotide triphosphate hydrolases superfamily as it is the most highly connected and has the highest taxonomic diversity. In addition, this superfamily has the highest interaction rank, is the barycenter of the network (it has the shortest average path to every other superfamily in the network), and is an articulation vertex, whose removal will disconnect the network. More generally, we conclude that the graph-theoretic and taxonomic analysis of PSIMAP is an important step towards the understanding of protein function and could be an important tool for tracing the evolution of life at the molecular level.
