This paper surveys some researches to accomplish on bioinformatics. These researches wish to propose a database architecture combining a general view of bioinformatics data as a graph of data objects and data relationships, with the efficiency and robustness of data management and query provided by indexing and generic programming techniques. Here, these invert the role of the index, and make it a first-class citizen in the query language. It is possible to do this in a structured way, allowing users to mention indexes explicitly without yielding to a procedural query model, by converting functional relations into explicit functions. In the limit, the database becomes a graph, in which the edges are these indexes. Function composition can be specified either explicitly or implicitly as path queries. The net effect of the inversion is to convert the database into a hyperdatabase: a database of databases, connected by indexes or functions. The inversion approach was motivated by their work in biological databases, for which hyperdatabases are a good model. The need for a good model has slowed progress in bioinformatics.

The multi-path routing schemes that assigns labels to sensor nodes for the reliability of data transmission and the accuracy of an aggregation query over the sensor networks where data transfer is prone to defect have been proposed. However, the existing schemes have high costs for reassigning labels to nodes when the network topology is changed. In this paper, we propose a novel routing method that avoids duplicated data and reduces the update cost of a sensor node. In order to show the superiority of the proposed scheme, we compare it with the existing scheme through the various experiments. Our experimental results show that our proposed method reduces about 95% the amount of the transmitted data for restoration to node failure and about 220% the amount of the transmitted data for query processing over the existing method on average.

Data on the Internet are usually represented and transfered as XML. the XML data is represented as a tree and therefore, object repositories are well-suited to store and query them due to their modeling power. XML queries are represented as regular path expressions and evaluated by traversing each object of the tree in object repositories. Several indexes are proposed to fast evaluate regular path expressions. However, in some cases they may not cover all possible paths because they require a great amount of disk space. In order to efficiently evaluate the queries in such cases, we propose an optimized traversing which combines the signature method and block traversing. The signature approach shrink the search space by using the signature information attached to each object, which hints the existence of a certain label in the sub-tree. The block traversing reduces disk I/O by early evaluating the reachable objects in a page. We conducted diverse experiments to show that the hybrid approach achieves a better performance than the other naive ones.
Recently data centric routing or application dependent routing protocols are emerged in mobile ad hoc networks. In this paper, we propose a routing method for query processing in MANET(Mobile Ad hoc NETwork) environment, called road-based query routing, with consideration on real time traffic information of large number of vehicles. In particular, we focus on the method that process arrival time dependent shortest path query in MANET without a central server on the road networks. The main idea of our approach lies in a routing message that includes query predicates based on the road connectivity and on data gathering method in real time from vehicles on the road by ad-hoc network. We unify route discovery phase and data delivery(query processing) phase in our mechanism and reduce unnecessary flooding messages by pruning mobile nodes which are not on the same or neighboring road segments. In order to evaluate the performances of the proposed method, we established a model of road networks and mobile nodes which travel along the roads. The measurement factor is the number of nodes to whom route request is propagated according to each pruning strategy. Simulation result shows that road information is a dominant factor to reduce the number of messages.

Semantic Web programming is such an immature area that it is yet based on API calls, and does not provide high productivity in compiler time and sufficient efficiency in runtime. To get over this limitation, some efforts have been devoted on dedicated programming languages for Semantic Web. In this paper, we introduce a sophisticated cashing technique to enhance the runtime efficiency of RDF (Resource Description Framework) processing programs with SPARQL queries. We use static program analysis on those programs to determine what to be cashed, so as to decrease the cash miss ratio. Our method is implemented on programs in 'Jey' language, which is one of the programming languages devised for RDF data processing.

Recently people have been offered location based services on road networks. The navigation system, one of applications, serves to find the nearest gas station or guide divers to the shortest path based 2D map. However 3D map is more important media than 2D map to make sense friendly for the real. Although 3D map's data size is huge, portable devices' storage space is small. In this paper, we define continuous perspective queries to support 3D map to mobile user on road networks and propose this queries processing method.
As XML became the standard of data exchange in the internet, the needs for effective query processing for XML data in streaming environment is increasing. Applying the existing database technique which processes data with the unit of tuple to the streaming XML data causes the out-of-memory problem due to limited memory volume. Likewise the cost for searching query path and accessing specific data may be remarkably increased because of special structure of XML. In a word it is unreasonable to apply the existing database system to the streaming environment that processes query for partial data, not the whole one. Thus, it should be able to search partial streaming data that rapidly satisfies join predicate through using low-capacity memory, based on a store technique suitable to streaming XML data. In this thesis, in order to study the store technique for low-capacity memory, the PCDATA and the CDATA-related parts, which can be used as predicate on join query, were fetched and saved. In addition, in an attempt to compare rapid join predicates, the range window of streaming XML data was set with the object of selectively joining windows that satisfies the query, based on Cardinality * and + among the structure information of DTD.

Location-based services (LBSs) are expected to process a large number of spatial queries, such as shortest path and k-nearest neighbor queries that arrive simultaneously at peak periods. Deploying more LBS servers to process these simultaneous spatial queries is a potential solution. However, this significantly increases service operating costs. Recently, batch processing solutions have been proposed to process a set of queries using shareable computation. In this study, we investigate the problem of batch processing moving k-nearest neighbor (MkNN) queries in dynamic spatial networks, where the travel time of each road segment changes frequently based on the traffic conditions. LBS servers based on one-query-at-a-time processing often fail to process simultaneous MkNN queries because of the significant number of redundant computations. We aim to improve the efficiency algorithmically by processing MkNN queries in batches and reusing sharable computations. Extensive evaluation using real-world roadmaps shows the superiority of our solution compared with state-of-the-art methods.
Given a starting point, destination point and various Points Of Interest (POIs), which contain a full or partial order, for a user to visit we wish to create, a sequenced route from the starting point to the destination point that includes one member of each POI type in a particular order. This paper proposes a method for finding the approximate shortest route between the start point, destination point and one member of each POI type. There are currently two algorithms that perform this task but they both have weaknesses. One of the algorithms only considers the distance between the visited POI (or starting point) and POI to visit next. The other algorithm chooses candidate points near the straight-line distance between the start point and destination but does not consider the order of visits on the corresponding network path. This paper outlines an algorithm that chooses the candidate points that are nearer to the network path between the start point and destination using network search. The algorithm looks for routes using the candidate points and finds the approximate shortest route by assigning an adaptive priority to the route that visits more POIs in a short amount of time.
