특허가치 평가지표 선정을 통한 기술 사업화 가능성 판단 : 리튬이온전지분야 (Determination of Commercialization Potential Through Patent Attribute Assessment in Lithium Ion Battery Technology)

  • This study aims to identify an assessment system based on multiple patent indices that can predict the likelihood of success in the commercialization of a patented technology in advance. In addition, we examine the effectiveness of our predictive model in identifying valuable technologies early on. We analyzed 3,063 secondary battery technologies patented in the US over the past 10 years. Our analysis identified 22 of the 25 most promising patented technologies, corresponding with the top 50% of industry-patented technologies that directly and indirectly succeeded in commercialization. These results support our claim that it is possible to identify attributes for the assessment of patent commercial potential to a significant degree. Our system presents a useful assessment index in the forecasting and determination of potential commercial success of patented technologies.

Functional Annotation and Analysis of Korean Patented Biological Sequences Using Bioinformatics

  • A recent report of the Korean Intellectual Property Office(KIPO) showed that the number of biological sequence-based patents is rapidly increasing in Korea. We present biological features of Korean patented sequences though bioinformatic analysis. The analysis is divided into two steps. The first is an annotation step in which the patented sequences were annotated with the Reference Sequence (RefSeq) database. The second is an association step in which the patented sequences were linked to genes, diseases, pathway, and biological functions. We used Entrez Gene, Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man (OMIM), Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG), and Gene Ontology (GO) databases. Through the association analysis, we found that nearly 2.6% of human genes were associated with Korean patenting, compared to 20% of human genes in the U.S. patent. The association between the biological functions and the patented sequences indicated that genes whose products act as hormones on defense responses in the extra-cellular environments were the most highly targeted for patenting.   • The use of road cutters in the maintenance of obsolete underground facilities maintains polluting dust, cutting sludge, etc, polluting the air environment, soil, and water, causing civil complaints caused by noise, and consequently interrupting work. Therefore, it is time for eco-friendly pavement cutting technology for fugitive dust and cutting sludge emission management and noise management. This study was based on research by the development of eco-friendly pavement cutting technology in urban areas. In this study, the current state of existing road cutters is investigated and the patented technology analysis of road cutters is conducted to derive the design elements of eco-friendly pavement cutting technology.

  • Isothermal transformation behavior during patenting and variations of microstructure and tensile strength of patented wires were investigated in Si-added high carbon steel. The TTT curves of the steels were made for two different austenitizing temperature. As the salt bath temperature was increased, the observed microstructures were bainite at $450^{\circ}C$, the mixture of bainite and pearlite at $500^{\circ}C$, and to pearlite at $600^{\circ}C$, The tensile strength of patented wire exhibited the highest value when the structure was pearlite. while the bainitic structure showed the lowest.

  • Metro Subway System is widely known as the leader of public transportation in a metropolitan area. The signal interlocking is one of the most important organs that plays a major role in the system. By improving the quality of signal lights on the traffic system and keeping its maintenance on a high level will not only repair the current state, but it will also let the LED type signal semi-permanent. The device, which underwent a process of fine manufacture establishment and a close examination, obtained a patented article (2004, as a new device). Utilizing the equipment with cautious preservation on the system will enhance the current state of the signal device. Especially, the test for improvement and development based upon the technique that decreases the frequency of defect produced will further precipitate its efficiency. With authorization of imposing the LED lights on production, installment, and investigation of the system, the newly made equipment will bring improvement to the signal technology and to the industry at largest extent.

Patome: Database of Patented Bio-sequences

  • We have built a database server called Patome which contains the annotation information for patented bio-sequences from the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO). The aims of the Patome are to annotate Korean patent bio-sequences and to provide information on patent relationship of public database entries. The patent sequences were annotated with Reference Sequence (RefSeq) or NCBI's nr database. The raw patent data and the annotated data were stored in the database. Annotation information can be used to determine whether a particular RefSeq ID or NCBI's nr ID is related to Korean patent. Patome infrastructure consists of three components­the database itself, a sequence data loader, and an online database query interface. The database can be queried using submission number, organism, title, applicant name, or accession number. Patome can be accessed at http://www.patome.net. The information will be updated every two months.
