  • Image inpainting is an image processing technique that restores an image by naturally filling the empty or damaged regions in an image. In this paper, we present a new image inpainting technique that can suppress the generation of texture garbage which is one of the artifacts of existing exemplar-based image inpainting. Unlike the existing technique, only the stationary source patch is sampled as the exemplar patch based on the assumption of spatial stationarity of the texture. This prevents the texture garbage, which is an inconsistent piece of texture from being copied to the target region. Experimental results show that the texture synthesis using the proposed method produces more natural inpainting results than the existing method.

  • Anomaly detection using self-supervised learning typically generates synthetic data to learn to classify normal and abnormal, and uses real abnormal data as test data to measure anomaly detection performance. In a study using this method to generate synthetic data similar to normal data, anomaly detection was carried out by generating synthetic data by cutting and pasting a specific patch from the original image. In this way, the degree of similarity to normal data depends on the number and size of patches, which affects anomaly detection performance. In this paper, synthetic data were generated by varying patch sizes and numbers, and then similarity and analysis with normal data were conducted using a pre-trained model, and anomaly detection performance was measured by learning the model.

  • This paper describes the phenomena of wake-induced transition of the boundary layers on a NACA0012 airfoil using measured phase-averaged data. Especially, the phase-averaged wall shear stresses are reasonably evaluated using the principle of Computational Preston Tube Method. Due to the passing wake, the turbulent patch is generated in the laminar boundary layer on the airfoil and the boundary layer becomes temporarily transitional. The patches propagate downstream with less speed than free-stream velocity and merge with each other at further down stream station, and the boundary layer becomes more transitional. The generation of turbulent patch at the leading edge of the airfoil mainly depends on velocity defects and turbulent intensity profiles of passing wakes. However, the growth and merging of turbulent patches depend on local streamwise pressure gradients as well as characteristics of turbulent patches. In this transition process, the present experimental data show very similar features to the previous numerical and experimental studies. It is confirmed that the two phase-averaged mean velocity dips appear in the outer region of transitional boundary layer for each passing cycle. Relatively high values of the phase-averaged turbulent fluctuations in the outer region indicate the possibility that breakdown occurs in the outer layer not near the wall.

  • The fully automatic algorithm from initial finite element mesh generation to remeshing in two dimensional geometry is introduced using bubble packing method (BPM) for finite element analysis. BPM determines the node placement by force-balancing configuration of bubbles and the triangular meshes are made by Delaunay triangulation with advancing front concept. In BPM, we suggest two node-search algorithms and the adaptive/recursive bubble controls to search the optimal nodal position. To use the automatically generated mesh information in FEA, the new enhanced bandwidth minimization scheme with high efficiency in CPU time is developed. In the remeshing stage, the mesh refinement is incorporated by the control of bubble size using two parameters. And Superconvergent Patch Recovery (SPR) technique is used for error estimation. To verify the capability of this algorithm, we consider two elasticity problems, one is the bending problem of short cantilever beam and the tension problem of infinite plate with hole. The numerical results indicate that the algorithm by BPM is able to refine the mesh based on a posteriori error and control the mesh size easily by two parameters.

  • Sertraline is a commonly used antidepressant of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) class. In these experiments, we have used the whole cell patch clamp technique to examine the effects of sertraline on the major cardiac ion channels expressed in HEK293 cells and the native voltage-gated $Ca^{2+}$ channels in rat ventricular myocytes. According to the results, sertraline is a potent blocker of cardiac $K^+$ channels, such as hERG, $I_{Ks}$ and $I_{K1}$. The rank order of inhibitory potency was hERG > $I_{K1}$ > $I_{Ks}$ with $IC_{50}$ values of 0.7, 10.5, and 15.2 ${\mu}M$, respectively. In addition to $K^+$ channels, sertraline also inhibited $I_{Na}$ and $I_{Ca}$, and the $IC_{50}$ values are 6.1 and 2.6 ${\mu}M$, respectively. Modification of these ion channels by sertraline could induce changes of the cardiac action potential duration and QT interval, and might result in cardiac arrhythmia.

  • The aims of the study are first, in other to meet the demand for a new product design process, to review the prototype theory and to find out the conceptual structure of product aesthetics, which is another properly thought to be as important as the typical pattern in an effort to patch up the theory second to help designers overcome the limits of idea generation and create consumer oriented designs with a high success rate by setting up a new product design process that is established through the application of the aesthetically influential factor 'proportion'based on the preceeding studies that tested product aesthetics measuring devices. In other words, this study tries to find out product categories, making use of the prototype theory to introduce an ideal proportion for product design, recognizing the importance of proportion by conducting product pattern analysis: to create a differentiated method that can product consumer oriented designs, even if it only manipulate proportion and to establish a new design process that can systematically explain the methodology for various form generation that applies proportion. This study reviews the theoretical aspects of concepts pertaining to the above … and, based on them, empirically tests them by patting to use the programs, for proportion manipulation. This study was conducted in the following way: To begin with, this study takes out proportion out of some aesthetically influential factors that has a great impact on the way consumers prefer certain product designs and tries to see how proportion affects the consumer preference when consumers select a product. In addition, we could analyze the difference between the ideal proportion that consumers prefer and the traditional golden proportion produced through theoretical studies. The correlations between preferred proportion and ideal proportion, and preferred proportion and golden proportion could be shown. In order that we may create form variations through more detailed proportion manipulation on the basis of the ideal proportion verified as preferable, we again applied the proportion factor to the process utilizing PDS(proportion Distortion System). In the way the restraint of form generation could be pursued. All in all, this study makes an attempt to set up a design process to create new product forms through the application of Proportion.

  • A new last design approach based on the Limb line FFD (LFFD) and Scale factor FFD (SFFD) is presented in this paper. The proposed last design method utilizes the dynamic trimmed parametric patches for the measured foot 3D data and last 3D data. Furthermore, the proposed last data generation system utilizes cross sectional data extracted obtained from the measured 3D foot data. First, the last design rule of the LFFD is constructed on the FFD lattice based on foot last shape analysis. Secondly, SFFD is constructed on the LFFD new lattice based on scale factor deformation. The scale factor is constructed on the boundary edges of polygonized patch and the cross section last data boundary edge of the polygon object. Suppose the two boundary curves have been preprocessed so that they run in the same direction and they forms the SF(Scale Factor). In addition, the control points of FFD lattice are derived with cross. sectional data interpolation methods from a finite set of 3D foot data.

  • Not only mechanical properties, bonding properties, electro chemical properties, etc. but also fire safety is required in patch repair materials such as polymer modified cement mortar (PCM) which are used to deteriorated reinforced concrete structure. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to choice the appropriate repair materials because there are not enough information about fire safety properties of PCM. In this study, The combustion characters of PCM were evaluated through the heat release rate test and non-combustibility test. The pyrogenicity test uses the cone calorimeter based on the oxygen consumption method. The non-combustibility test is from the temperature change inside the furnace during the test. The effect of the types of polymer and polymer content were evaluated from the series of test. The results are like followings. 1) The higher the W/C of PCM, the lower the gross calorific value and heat generation rate in the heat release rate test. The amount of heat generation of PCM is like the order of VVA, EVA, and SBR in this study. 2) Some materials such as E45-100, E50-100, E60-100, S50-50, and S50-100 were estimated as not appropriate building materials in the non combustibility test.

  • Objectives: Shengmaisan (SMS) is a traditional Chinese medicine prescription widely used for the treatment of diverse organs in Korea. The interstitial cells of Cajal (ICCs) are pacemaker cells that play an important role in the generation of coordinated gastrointestinal (GI) motility. We have aimed to investigate the effects of SMS in the ICCs in the mouse small intestine. Methods: To dissociate the ICCs, we used enzymatic digestions from the small intestine in a mouse. After that, the ICCs were identified immunologically by using the anti-c-kit antibody. In the ICCs, the electrophysiological whole-cell patch-clamp configuration was used to record pacemaker potentials in the cultured ICCs. Results: The ICCs generated pacemaker potentials in the mouse small intestine. SMS produced membrane depolarization with concentration-dependent manners in the current clamp mode. Pretreatment with a $Ca^{2+}$ free solution and thapsigargin, a $Ca^{2+}$-ATPase inhibitor in the endoplasmic reticulum, stopped the generation of the pacemaker potentials. In the case of $Ca^{2+}$-free solutions, SMS induced membrane depolarizations. However, when thapsigargin in a bath solution was applied, the membrane depolarization was not produced by SMS. The membrane depolarizations produced by SMS were inhibited by U-73122, an active phospholipase C (PLC) inhibitors. Furthermore, chelerythrine and calphostin C, a protein kinase C (PKC) inhibitors had no effects on SMS-induced membrane depolarizations. Conclusions: These results suggest that SMS might affect GI motility by modulating the pacemaker activity through an internal $Ca^{2+}$- and PLC-dependent and PKC-independent pathway in the ICCs.

  • To numerically calculate electromagnetic scattering from the electrical-large three-dimensional(3D) objects, the high-frequency approaches have been usually applied, but the accuracy and feasibility of these geometrical and physical optics(GO-PO) approaches, to some extent, are remained to be improved. In this paper, a new framework is developed for calculation of the near-field scattering field of an electrical-large 3D target by using a multilevel fast multipole algorithm(MLFMA) and generation of radar images by using a fast back-projection(FBP) algorithm. The MPI(Message Passing Interface) parallel computing is carried out to multiply the calculation efficiency greatly. Finally, a simple example of perfectly electrical conducting(PEC) patch and a canonical case of Fighting Falcon F-16 are presented.
