미세먼지 농도에 따른 심·뇌혈관계 및 호흡기계 환자의 119 구급 출동 분석 (Analysis of 119 dispatch for patients with cardio-cerebrovascular and respiratory diseases according to particulate matter)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for improving the response capacity of 119 EMS systems by analyzing the effects of particulate matter on cardio-cerebrovascular and respiratory symptoms in the pre-hospital stage. Methods: We examined 46,389 patients who transferred to the hospital with complaints of cardiopulmonary arrest and cardio-cerebrovascular and respiratory symptoms by 119 ambulances in Incheon from 2016 to 2018. Results: The probability of 119 emergency dispatch for patients with cardiopulmonary arrest increased 2.8-4.0% from the day of symptom onset until two days before hospital presentation as particulate matter 10㎛ or less in diameter(PM10) increased by 10㎍/㎥ (OR=1.028; 95% CI=1.014-1.041, p=0.000, lag 0), (OR=1.040; 95% CI=1.024-1.056, p=0.000, lag 1), (OR=1.032; 95% CI=1.016-1.049, p=0.000, lag 2). Meanwhile, emergency dispatch increased 3.6-6.1% for PM2.5 in creased by 10㎍/㎥ (OR=1.046; 95% CI=1.024-1.068, p=0.000, lag 0), (OR=1.061; 95% CI=1.035-1.088, p=.000, lag 1), and (OR=1.036; 95% CI=1.010-1.063, p=0.006, lag 2). Conclusion: Emergency medical technicians (EMTs) who respond to 119 calls should rapidly and accurately evaluate patients and provide professional emergency care by identifying the characteristics of the vulnerable groups relative to particulate matter size. To prevent the occurrence and exacerbation of symptoms caused by particulate matter, EMTs should be prepared and equipped with a response system for high particulate matter in the EMS system.

X-선 형광분광법을 이용한 대기부유분진중 중금속의 농도분포에 관한 연구 (Studies on the Distribution of Heavy Metal Concentrations in Ambient Suspended Particulate Matters Using the X-ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy)

  • The x-ray fluorescence(XRF) is one of the most convenient and widely used techniques for analyzing trace elements in ambient particulate matters. The objects of the study were to estimate the optimum exposure time using the XRF, to investigate the distributions of heavy metal levels in particulate matters, and finally to study seasonal variation for the concentrations of total suspended particulate matters(TSP) and size fractionated particulate matters. The suspended particulate matters had been collected by a cascade impactor having 9 size fragnated stages for 3 years(Dec. 1988 to Nov. 1991) in Kyung Hee University-Suwon Campus. The particulate matters were then collected on each stage by membrane filters. The weight concentrations were determined by the XRF system. Thus, seasonal variations and relationship between concentration and particle size could be investigated. Resulting distribution was bimodal with the coarse and the fine particle groups minimum occurring around 2.1 to 3.3 $\mu$m as an aerodynamic diameter. To determine optimum exposure time of the XRF for various trace inorganic elements, membrane filters and the NIST standard filters were extensively studied. Using a statistical technique, optimum exposure time was estimated for each trace element and overall elements. The time was then determined as 20 seconds for the XRF system. The concentration of TSP was 123.9$\mum/m^3$ on an arithmatic average. The levels of each inorganic metal were Si 2420.0ng/$m^3$, Fe 977.1ng/$m^3$, and so on. The Pb. Zn, and Cu abounded in the fine mode group, while Ca, Fe, Si, Al, and K in the coarse group. Marked seasonal variation of TSP and metal concentrations was observed. The concentration of heavy metals in the fine mode was highest in winter : on the other hand, that in the coarse mode was highest in spring.

  • 최근 미세먼지의 인체 영향에 관한 사회적 관심으로 미세먼지 모니터링에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있으나, 측정소 설치의 불균형 및 지형 차이로 인해 거주 환경에 적합한 데이터를 얻을 수 없다. 본 논문에서는 거주 환경의 미세먼지 측정을 위해 장거리 무선통신이 가능한 LoRa LPWA 기반의 미세먼지 측정 시스템을 제안한다. 제안하는 시스템의 경우 장거리 무선통신 기술인 LPWA를 활용하여 인터넷 구축이 어려운 외부 환경의 데이터를 효과적으로 수집 가능하다. 제안한 시스템을 거주 환경에 적용할 경우 거주 환경에 적합한 미세먼지 모니터링 정보를 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

선박 주 추진기관으로 사용가능한 대형 디젤엔진의 배기가스 특성 분석 (Exhaust Emission Characteristics from Heavy-duty Diesel Engine applicable to Prime Propulsion Engine for Marine Vessels)

  • 본 논문은 선박의 주 추진기관으로 사용가능한 육상 운송수단에 탑재되어있는 대형 디젤엔진에서 배출되는 입자상 물질과 질소산화물의 배출특성을 ESC mode에 적용시켜 분석하는데 초점을 두었다. 입자상 물질은 엔진의 고부하 영역에서 다량으로 배출되는 특성을 확인 할 수 있었으며 질소산화물의 경우 배기가스 온도 측정형태와 동일한 경향으로 배출되었다. 매연여과장치를 부착하여 입자상 물질의 배출특성을 분석한 결과 mode별 1/100~1/1,000배까지 저감되었다. 그러나 급격한 엔진 부하 변동 시 저감효과는 떨어졌으며 고속-고부하 영역에서는 매연여과장치내부의 온도상승으로 일부 재생현상이 발생하여 입자상 물질의 배출 증가 결과를 초래하는 현상이 발생하였다. 시험엔진에서 배출되는 입자상 물질의 입경분포를 분석한 결과 대부분 100nm 이하의 크기를 가지는 나노 입자가 배출되었으며 매연여과장치를 부착 및 탈착하여 측정한 결과 배출수준에는 차이가 있지만 입자상 물질의 입경분포는 비슷한 경향으로 분석되었다.

Expression of transforming growth factor-1 in bone regeneration after the implantation of particulate dentin and plaster of Paris

  • Purpose: This study was performed to investigate the expression of the transforming growth factor (TGF)-1, in a rat calvarium defect model using particulate dentin and/or plaster of Paris, and correlate the bone regeneration process with the histologic events. Materials and Methods: Thirty-two Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into 4 groups of 8 animals each. A 1.0 cm-sized calvarial defects were made and the defect was filled with different graft materials as follows : Group A, the defects were filled with a mixture of particulate dentin and plaster of Paris with a 2:1 ratio; Group B, the defects were filled with plaster of Paris only; Group C, defects were filled with particulate dentin only; Group D, untreated control group. The animals were sacrificed by 1, 2, 4, 8 weeks after implantation. Excised wound tissues were processed for histology, immunohistochemistry and RT-PCR for the analysis of TGF-1 expression. Results: Gene expression of TGF-1 was detected for all experimental groups. The highest gene expression was observed in the specimen taken at the first week after implantation in Group A. According to the histologic and immunohistochemical studies, TGF-1 positive osteoblast-like cells were found in the early stage of healing after the implantation of particulate dentin and plaster of Paris. Conclusion: These findings suggest that TGF-1 may be related to new bone formation at the early healing process after the implantation of particulate dentin and plaster of Paris.

Wear Particulate Matters and Physical Properties of ENR/BR Tread Compounds with Different Ratio of Silica and Carbon Black Binary Filler Systems

  • The demand for truck bus radial (TBR) tires with enhanced fuel efficiency and wear resistance have grown in recent years. In addition, as the issue of particulate matter and air pollution increases, efforts are being made to reduce the generation of particulate matter. In this study, the properties of epoxidized natural rubber (ENR) containing a silica-friendly functional group were evaluated by considering it as a base rubber and varying the silica ratio in this binary filler system. The results showed that the wear resistance of the NR/BR blend compound decreased as the silica ratio increased. In contrast, the ENR/BR blend compound exhibited an increase in wear resistance as the silica ratio was increased. In particular, the ENR-50/BR blend compound showed the best wear resistance due to the presence of several epoxide groups. Furthermore, we observed that for tan 𝛿 at 60℃, higher epoxide content resulted in the higher Tg of the rubber, indicating a higher tan 𝛿 at 60℃. On the other hand, it was confirmed that increasing the silica ratio decreased the value of tan 𝛿 at 60℃ in all compounds. In addition, we measured the amount of wear particulate matters generated from the compound wear. These measurements confirmed that in the binary filler system, regardless of the filler type, the quantity of the generated wear particulate matters as the filler-rubber interaction increased. In conclusion, the silica filled ENR/BR blend compound exhibited the lowest generation of wear particulate matters.

Influence of Blending Method on the Generation of Wear Particulate Matters and Physical Properties in TBR Tire Tread Compounds

  • Because particulate matter has emerged as a major contributor to air pollution, the tire industry has conducted studies to reduce particulate matters from tires by improving tire performance. In this study, we compared the conventional blending method, in which rubber, filler, and additives are mixed simultaneously, to the Y-blending method, in which masterbatches are blended. We manufactured carbon black (CB)-filled natural rubber (NR)/butadiene rubber (BR) blend and silica-filled epoxidized NR/BR blend compounds to compare the effects of the two blending methods on the physical properties of the compounds and the amount of particulate matter generated. The Y-blending method provided uniform filler distribution in the heterogeneous rubber matrix, improved processability, and exhibited low rolling resistance. This method also improved physical properties owing to the excellent filler-rubber interaction. The results obtained from measuring the generation of particulate matter indicated that, the Y-blending method reduced PM2.5 particulate matter generation from the CB-filled and silica-filled compounds by 38% and 60%, and that of PM10 by 29% and 67%, respectively. This confirmed the excellence of the Y-blending method regarding the physical properties of truck bus radial tire tread compounds and reduced particulate matter generated.

선박 디젤엔진 배출 미세먼지 저감을 위한 정전 여과 매연 집진기 개발에 관한 연구 (An Electrostatic Diesel Particulate Filtration System for Removal of Fine Particulate Matters from Marine Diesel Engines)

  • In order to reduce particulate matters (PM) from marine diesel engines, we developed novel electrostatic diesel particulate matter filtration system. Electrostatic diesel particulate filtration (DPF) system consists of electrostatic charger and filtration part. The electrostatic charger and filtration part are composed of a metal discharge electrode and a metal fiber filter (porosity: 68.1-86.1%), respectively. In the electrostatic charger part, diesel soot particles are reduced by electrostatic force. The filtration part after electrostatic charger part reduces diesel soot particles through inertial and diffusion forces. The filtration efficiency of electrostatic DPF system was examined through the experiments using engine dynamometer system (300 kW) and ship (200 kW). The PM reduction efficiencies due to inertial and electrostatic forces showed about 70-75% and 80-90%, respectively, according to the RPM of the engine. The differential pressure of the electrostatic DPF system applied to the ship was about 1-9 mbar, which was less than the allowable differential pressure for ship engines in South Korea (100 mbar). The results show that the electrostatic DPF system is suitable for application to the PM reduction emitted from ships.

도시근린공원 미세먼지(PM)저감과 공간차폐율과의 관계 - 대구광역시 수성구 근린공원을 중심으로 - (The Relationship between Particular Matter Reduction and Space Shielding Rate in Urban Neighborhood Park)

  • 본 연구는 미세먼지 문제가 심각한 도심에서 도시근린공원의 중심이 입구에 비해 어느 정도 저감된 공간인지 분석해 보는데 목적이 있다. 또한 공원중앙의 공간 차폐율과 미세먼지 저감율과의 상관관계를 실험을 통해 도출해 내고자 하였다. 대구시 수성구 평지형 도시근린공원 7개를 대상으로 3일동안 같은 장소에서 측정하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 도시근린공원 중심은 입구보다 온도는 평균 1.05℃ 낮고, 습도는 평균 2.57% 높았다. 둘째, 미세먼지 감소율은 PM1 17.09%, PM2.5 17.65%, PM10 14.99%의 저감율로 초미세먼지가 더 높은 것으로 분석되었으며, 공원의 규모가 작을수록 저감효과가 더 높았다. 또한 기상청발표 미세먼지 농도가 높은날일수록 공원중앙에서의 저감율은 낮았으며, 공원입구의 농도가 높을수록 저감율은 높았다. 셋째, 공원중심에서 공간차폐율이 높을수록 미세먼지 저감효과가 높은 것으로 파악되었다. 도시근린공원의 미세먼지 저감정도와 공간차폐율과의 상관관계를 파악할 수 있었으며, 더 확대된 실험데이터들의 기초가 되기를 기대한다.

선박용 고속 디젤엔진에 적용한 디젤미립자 필터의 측정방법에 따른 입자상물질 저감효율 비교 연구 (Comparison of removal efficiency of diesel particulate filter with different measurement methods in a high-speed marine diesel engine)

  • 본 연구에서는 입자상물질 저감을 위해 개발한 디젤미립자 필터를 선박용 고속 디젤엔진에 적용하여 측정방법에 따른 저감효율을 비교 분석하였다. 시험에 사용된 엔진은 최고출력 403 kW의 4행정 기계식 선박용 고속 디젤엔진이며, 선박 엔진의 부하와 회전속도 제어를 위해 AC 동력계를 사용하였다. 선박 엔진 시험주기인 E3 cycle의 네 운전조건에서 저감효율을 측정하였으며, 측정방법으로는 입자상물질 및 soot의 저감특성을 살펴보기 위해 분류희석 방법과 광흡수법이 적용된 계측기를 각각 이용하였다. 디젤미립자 필터 적용에 따른 저감효율 측정 결과, 엔진허용 배압을 충족함과 동시에 입자상물질의 경우 76 ~ 91 %, soot(${\approx}$블랙카본)은 90 %이상 확인할 수 있었다. 이 결과로부터, 선박용 디젤엔진에서 배출되는 입자상물질 및 soot 저감기술로 디젤미립자 필터 적용 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한, 측정방법별 저감효율이 상이한 결과로부터 측정방법의 단일화 필요성을 확인할 수 있었다.
