  • The need for communication is emphasized in decision making, design methods and processes for the educational environment that contain new curricula and learning methods. In this study, we tried to find the direction and agenda of learner-centered environment restructuring through the 'user-integrated platform' in which various subjects related to school space environment understand each other's position and overcome the barriers and prejudices of each sector. The project was planned in a 'bottom-up process' method that uncovered the singularities of the previous stage and led the main contents of the next stage. The various subjects who participated in the project shared their own experiences and different positions regarding the school space. At the workshop, the topics of the participating teams were divided into two categories. The teams in the category of the 'school culture and space' insisted innovation of 'the school culture' as a premise for the restructuring of the 'school space', and proposed schools with different interpretations of 'authority and rules of school', 'the meaning of learning and play' and 'the main character of school. The teams in the category of the 'school borders and spaces' focused on 'communication' and proposed schools containing 'emotional care of students', 'borders between schools and villages', 'village community schools', and 'interspace and niche time'. After the workshop, we were able to derive the direction and architectural strategy of the school space restructuring by analyzing the works of the participants. Through this study, we confirmed the possibility of translating user's ideas into the professional domain through careful planning, preparation, facilitation, and analysis in Participatory Design.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the teachers' and parents' perceptions on the 2015 revised national curriculum, which integrated humanities and sciences. In order to do so, 102 high school teachers and 68 high school parents were surveyed on their understanding of the 2015 revised curriculum including core competence, student-participatory class, and process-oriented assessment. The results are as follows. First, the teachers had a higher understanding of the purpose, contents, and major revisions of the 2015 revised curriculum than the parents. Second, among the core competencies presented in the revised 2015 curriculum, both teachers and parents considered communication, community and self-management competencies important. Third, both groups said that student-participatory classes and process-oriented evaluation has increased since the implementation of the 2015 revised curriculum. Based on these study results, suggestions for successful operation of the 2015 revised curriculum and future research were discussed.

  • This study suggest the development and application of the Interactive Design Toolkit as a participatory design method for general customer who are non-expert on design activity to participate in design process of mass customization. In order to let general customers to express their design needs, we have to make a familiar and direct communication method for them. And, customer's design needs should be transformed into digital media. This study define the Interactive Design Toolkit as a design tool for customer participation by direct manipulation of computer system for simulation of design needs by customer themselves. The Interactive Design Toolkit is based on a PC-based image perception system and its application. User can make virtual models in virtual space by manipulating physical objects in real world. And, The toolkit can be used in the field of participatory design for deliverer side customization, especially in system kitchen which is manufactured and distributed in modular system. More improved design toolkit for manipulating 3 dimensional shape is needed for consumer product design and car styling.

  • Balanced regional development' is rehabilitated as contemporary national agenda by Roh government. The regional equity policies has been justified as insuring more 'even development opportunity'. It is required further examination that the intrinsic relationships between spatial equity and 'the participatory democracy' of the government. The participatory democracy was estimated an important method to achieve 'the alternative development' of the new social movement. But the rapid evolution of transportation and electronic nudes of communication technology strengthened spatial concentration, especially concentration of authoritative resources. These concentrations have a tendency of participation exclusion in the symbolic social practice such as ideological and political decision-making. In order to realize participatory democracy, It is not sufficient to decentralize administration authorities. The reallocation and upbringing policies of symbolic practices such as cultural industries and education facilities is very important.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide research results on how teacher background variables and teacher efficacy affect the teacher's instructional behavior of elementary school teachers in student participatory classes. A survey was conducted on 122 elementary school teachers in the G area and a regression analysis was conducted to analyze the relationship of influence between variables. As a result of the regression analysis, self-regulation efficiency and task difficulty preference had a significant impact on elementary teachers' instructional behavior. As for teaching knowledge, class motivation, which are sub-variable factors in class behavior, self-regulating efficacy had a higher influence than task difficulty preference and for class communication, task difficulty preference had a higher influence than self-regulating efficacy. Based on the results of the study, we considered ways to show desirable teaching behavior of elementary school teachers in student participatory classes.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to recognize the importance of dental hygienist's communication competence and to establish the basis for developing a program to improve communication competence. Methods: A survey was conducted on members who underwent participatory training in some trials in 2019, and a total of 348 people were analyzed. Results: Total communication competence was 3.63 points. The highest area was 3.88 points for understanding others' standards, and the lowest area was 3.27 points for escaping stereotypes. Most areas of communication showed statistically significant positive correlations, but in some areas, there was an inverse correlation. As a dental hygienist, it is necessary to provide systematic education for improving communication competence from college students. Conclusions: In addition, it is necessary to develop and implement a training program for improving communication competence of dental hygienists.

  • This study aims to understand a gamer participatory mechanism by comparing Gamer Participation 1.0(Bartz Liberation War) and Gamer Participation 2.0(Truck Demonstration). The process of gamers' political participation is analyzed by applying the communication-mediated O-S-O-R model with the case of gamers' truck protests caused by probability items' issue. This study found out that changes in the social, technological, and discursive layers that constitute the gamer's communication ecology led to diversification of communication channels and changes in the perception of games. Gamers utilized the technological layer of the media environment that presupposes immediate mutual communication, expressed opinions on issues in the mobilization process, and shared the necessity of participation to derive collective mobilization. Through communication, gamers were able to participate in socio-political issues with high participation thresholds. This study is significant in that it discussed the gamers' democratic citizenship and role as issue publics. The study suggests that the need for theoretical and methodological expansion to analyze various participatory cases.

  • Recently, interactive media which maximizes audience engagement by making the audience appeal on a stage in digital media environment has been distributed more widely. In fact, there has been active movement to develop and promote a new participatory media genre with higher immersion by applying this kind of interactive media concept to advertisement, film, game and e-learning. In the conventional interactive media, digital media had to be enjoyed in particular environment where diverse sensors were installed or through a certain device to recognize a user's motion and voice. This study attempted to design and implement an image creation system which ensures interactions between a user and media in popular distribution-enabled web environment and through PC and smart devices to minimize the image producer-user constraints.
