  • In this paper, we proposed and analyzed the performance of the partial SSPIC (Successive Serial Parallel Interference Cancellation ) scheme adopting modified successive serial interference cancellation (SIC) scheme. Modified partial successive serial cancellation (SIC) stage is used to effectively shorten interference cancellation delay. Performance is analyzed in Rayleigh fading channel with both perfect and imperfect channel estimation. From the results, proposed partial SSPIC I and II multiuser detectors can shorten effectively a detection delay at first SIC stage. The partial SSPIC type l detector outperformed the conventional concatenated SICPIC detector in both performance and capacity and type ll detector maintains similar performance. Proposed partial SSPIC multiuser detector can effectively improve the system performance without excessive detection delay.

  • In this paper we compare linear and non-linear inter-ference cancellation for systems employing code division multi-ple access (CDMA) techniques. Specifically, we examine linear and non-linear parallel interference cancellation(also called multi-stage cancellation) in relationship to other multiuser detection al-gorithms. We show the explicit relationship between parallel inter-ference cancellation and the decorrelator (or direct matrix inver-sion). This comparison gives insight into the performance of paral-lel interference cancellation (PIC) and leads to vetter approaches. We also show that non-linear PIC approaches with explicit chan-nel setimation can provide performance improvement over linear PIC, especially when using soft non-linear symbol estimates. The application of interference cancellation to non-linear modulation techniques is also presented along with a discussion on minimum mean-squared error(MMSE) symbol estimation techniques. These are shown to further improve the performance of parallel cancella-tion.

  • In this paper, we propose an interference cancellation(IC) scheme using a partial Rake(PRAKE) combining in ultra-wideband(UWB) multipath fading channels. In this IC scheme, differently from the conventional transmitter model, which employs a guard interval between each frame, the guard interval is employed between each slot for estimating the multiple access interference(MAI). The UWB systems using the proposed IC scheme have little performance degradation without regard to the number of user, while the conventional UWB systems have a significant performance degradation according to the number of user. In order to reduce the receiver complexity, the PRAKE combining of post-canceled signal and the partial user IC scheme are also proposed.

  • Medium access control is critical in wireless networks for efficient spectrum utilization. In this paper, we introduce a novel collision resolution method based on the technique of known interference cancellation, and propose a new MAC protocol named as CR-MAC, in which AP tries to decode all the collided data packets by combining partial retransmissions and known interference cancellation. As the collided transmissions are fully utilized, less retransmission is required, especially in a crowded network. The NS-2simulation and MATLAB numerical results show that, under various network settings, CR-MAC performs much better than the IEEE 802.11 DCF in terms of the aggregation throughput and the expected packet delay.

  • In this paper, we propose a partial full duplex relay scheme for 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project) LTE (Long Term Evolution)-Advanced system using a Type 1 relay. The Type 1 relay as inband relay is prohibited to transmit and receive simultaneously because of self-interference. Therefore, the Type 1 relay cannot receive synchronization signals which are transmitted to eNB. To overcoming this problem, we propose the partial full duplex relay scheme which transmits to R-UE (Relay-User Equipment) and receives from eNB (evolved NodeB) simultaneously when eNB and the Type 1 relay transmit subframes which have synchronization signals. Additionally, for solving self-interference, the Type 1 relay transmitter and receiver antennas are sufficiently sufficiently isolated and self-interference cancellation is applied for the self-interference signal from the relay transmitter. Thus, the partial full duplex relay scheme can receive synchronization signals from eNB and solve the problems of conventional solutions and we propose the partial channel estimation scheme for partial full duplex relay scheme using SCI. By extensive computer simulation, we verify that the partial full duplex relay scheme is attractive and suitable for the Type 1 relay system.

  • This paper presents a bandwidth efficient self-cancellation scheme for interchannel interference (ICI) in OFDM transmission systems. Conventional self-cancellation schemes provide an excellent cancellation capability of ICI for relatively low frequency offsets. However, this capability is achieved at the expense of bandwidth efficiency and thus a higher modulation level is often used to compensate for desired throughput. By applying a partial differential coding (PDC) to the transmit data prior to the ICI self-cancellation, bandwidth efficiency is greatly improved by a factor of 2, while maintaining a string of data (+1, -1) alternately for the ICI. self-cancellation in OFDM systems. Computer simulations show that the performance of the proposed scheme is comparable to the conventional self-cancellation scheme with slight performance degradation for relatively lower frequency offsets.

  • In this paper, Multistage Adaptive Partial PIC eliminating effectively the multiple access and multipath interference for DS-CDMA based W-CDMA uplink system is designed and its performance is evaluated with computer simulation. By adaptively controlling the slope of the soft limiter with received signals, the efficiency of the soft limiter can be maximized and the better performance is obtained by solving error floor problem using further precise generation of interference signal. As a result, The proposed Multistage Adaptive Partial PIC with simple optimizing method for time-variant channel showed optimum performance at fewer stages. Besides fewer stages, the interference cancellation at the output of the rake receiver considerably reduced system complexity. The Multistage Adaptive Partial PIC with precise generation and efficient cancellation of interference signal can solve error eoor problem, resulted from initial false detection and improve system performance of high data rate system.

  • In this paper, a multistage parallel interference canceller (MPIC) and a partial multistage parallel interference canceller (PMPIC) are employed as a technique for improving the performance of the asynchronous DS-CDMA systems. The degree of the effect of the timing errors and phase errors on the interference cancellation capability of two types of cancellers is theoretically analyzed and the computer simulation is performed to confirm the analytical results. From the results, the large performance improvement is obtained by employing MPIC and PMPIC with perfect synchronization over the conventional matched filter, and the performance improvement obtained by MPIC and PMPIC is very close to each other as the number of the stage of MPIC and PMPIC increases. When the timing errors and phase errors are considered (in the case of imperfect synchronization), the performance improvement reduces as the performance degradation at the first stage (no cancellation) has a bad effect on the decision statistics at each stage. However MPIC and PMPIC have the strong interference cancellation capability in spite of imperfect synchronization as the number of the stage increases. An interference canceller, which has the strong interference cancellation capability as well as lower complexity for the implementation, is needed for practical systems with timing errors and phase errors because the perfect synchronization is impossible. Therefore, the excellent tradeoff between complexity and performance offered by PMPIC makes it an attractive approach for practical systems.

  • In this paper, we propose the blind multiuser detector which is robust against the effects of near-far and multiuser interference. The proposed detector is composed of the partial IC(interference canceller) and the blind MOE(minimum output energy) multiuser detector. The partial IC partially eliminates interference components from the received signal then the output of partial IC is fed into the input of multiuser detector. Simulation results show that the proposed detector has the robust property but the performance of conventional MOE multiuser detector is rapidly degraded in case of existing both near far and multiuser. Thus, the proposed partial IC BMUD(blind multiuser detection) technique has better performance than the conventional MOE.

  • In this paper, adaptive multi-stage parallel interference cancellation (PIC) receiver is considered for a multi-rate DS-CDMA system. In each stage of the adaptive multi-stage PIC receiver, multiple access interference (MAI) estimates are obtained using the sub-bit estimates from the Previous stage and the adaptive weights for the sub-bit estimates. The adaptive weights are obtained by minimizing the mean squared error between the received signal and its estimate through a least mean square (LMS) algorithm. It is shown that the adaptive multi- stage PIC receiver achieves smaller BER than the matched filter receiver, multi-stage PIC receiver, and multi-stage partial PIC receiver for the multi-rate DS-CDMA system in a Rayleigh fading channel.
