In Part I of this paper, a conceptual approach of the stress path method was newly proposed for a rational estimation of settlements of saturated clay deposits. A detailed procedure for effective evaluation and use of settlement-related characteristic deformation behaviors was developed in order to provide practicality to the new approach. In this Part II, on the basis of the results of Part 1, the concept of the new approach was embodied in the form of a detailed settlement estimation procedure. The applicability and usefulness of the new procedure were strongly supported by various application examples. In addition, possible errors of other conventional settlement estimation methods were investigated by comparing with the new procedure. Because of its flexible applicability for wide range of field conditions, the new procedure will have great usefulness in the practical side. For example, a reasonable foundation design based on allowable settlement criteria can be easily performed and modification of design factors can be readily reflected even during the subsequent construction stage. Especially, the new procedure will be of great use for preliminary work in a large scale construction site where various structures are planned to be constructed on a nearly identical ground condition.

Since the dimension of cold forged part is larger than the cavity size of forging die, the difference results from the various features, such as, the elastic characteristics of die and workpiece, thermal influences, and machine-elasticity. All of these factors should be considered to get more accurate prediction of the dimension of forged part. In this paper, severe FE techniques are proposed to improve the prediction accuracy of dimension for cold forged part. To validate the importance of the above mentioned factors, and the estimated results are compared with the experimental results. The used model is a closed die upsetting of cylindrical billet. The calculated dimensions are well coincided with .the measured values based on the proposed techniques. The proposed techniques have put two simple but important points into Fe simulation. One is the separation of forging stages into 3 steps, from a loading through punch retraction to ejecting stage. The other is the dimensional change, according to the temperature changes due to the deformation. The FE analysis could predict the dimension of cold forged part within the $10{\mu}m$, based on the more realistic consideration.

The runner system of the injection mould and the injection volume of the injection molding process greatly affect the quality of the produced part. The goal of this paper is the design of the runner system and the prediction of the injection volume for the injection moulding of a housing part of small-size air cleaner to improve the formability through the three-dimensional injection moulding analysis. The effects of the runner system of the mould on the injection moulding characteristics are investigated. From the results of the investigation, a proper design of the runner system with uniform filling characteristics and the minimized defect formation is obtained. In addition, the influence of the moving distance of the screw on filling characteristics, weldline formation and deformation characteristics is examined. From the results of the examination, an appropriate moving distance of the screw for the housing part of small-size air cleaner is estimated.

Composite air spindles are appropriate for the high-speed and the high-precision machining as small hole drilling of printed circuit board (PCB) or wafer cutting for manufacturing semiconductors because of the low rotational inertia, the high damping ratio and the high fundamental natural frequency of composite shaft. The axial load and stiffness of composite air spindles fur drilling operation are determined by the thrust ben ring composed of the air supply part mounted on the housing and the rotating part mounted on the rotating shaft. At high-speed rotation, the rotating part of the thrust bearing should be designed considering the stresses induced by centrifugal force as well as the axial stiffness and the natural frequency of the rotating shaft to void the shaft from failure due to the centrifugal force and resonant vibration. In this work, the air supply part of the thrust bearing was designed considering the bending stiffness of the bearing and the applied load. The rotating part of the thrust bearing was designed through finite element analysis considering the cutting forces during manufacturing as well as the static and dynamic characteristics under both the axial and con trifugal forces during high-speed rotation.
This paper presents the FEM analysis results on the strength safety of a gas valve for a LPG cylinder. Based on the FEM analysis, the maximum von Mises stress on the boundary zone between a safety valve and the upper area of the thread is 99.2 MPa for the supplied gas pressure of 3.5 MPa in which the gas valve is fully opened. The maximum von Mises stress of 99.2 MPa is considered as safety value, because that value is lower than the yield stress of a brass material. In this case, the maximum deformation at the upper right part of the pressure regulator is 0.002mm. The maximum deformation zone is not a meaning part of the sealing part such as an O-ring or a diaphragm of a gas valve and a pressure regulator. The proposed hybrid gas valve model in which is integrated with a conventional cut-off valve and a pressure regulator is recommended as a gas leakage free mechanism and minimized compact size for a LPG cylinder.

Korean is an agglutinative language, and one or more morphemes are combined to form a single word. Part-of-speech tagging method separates each morpheme from a word and attaches a part-of-speech tag. In this study, we propose a new Korean part-of-speech tagging method based on the Head-Tail tokenization technique that divides a word into a lexical morpheme part and a grammatical morpheme part without decomposing compound words. In this method, the Head-Tail is divided by the syllable boundary without restoring irregular deformation or abbreviated syllables. Korean part-of-speech tagger was implemented using the Head-Tail tokenization and deep learning technique. In order to solve the problem that a large number of complex tags are generated due to the segmented tags and the tagging accuracy is low, we reduced the number of tags to a complex tag composed of large classification tags, and as a result, we improved the tagging accuracy. The performance of the Head-Tail part-of-speech tagger was experimented by using BERT, syllable bigram, and subword bigram embedding, and both syllable bigram and subword bigram embedding showed improvement in performance compared to general BERT. Part-of-speech tagging was performed by integrating the Head-Tail tokenization model and the simplified part-of-speech tagging model, achieving 98.99% word unit accuracy and 99.08% token unit accuracy. As a result of the experiment, it was found that the performance of part-of-speech tagging improved when the maximum token length was limited to twice the number of words.

Hypereutectic Al-25Si-X alloys, expected to be applied to the cylinder-liner-part of the engine-block of an automobile due to the excellent wear resistance, low density and low thermal expansion coefficient has been fabricated through a spray forming process. The obtained microstructure of the hypereutectic Al-25Si-X alloy appeared to consist of Al matrix and equiaxed Si particles of average diameter of $5-7{\mu}m$. To characterize the deformation behavior of this alloy, a series of load relaxation and compression tests have been conducted at temperatures ranging from RT to $500^{\circ}C$. The strain rate sensitivity parameter (m) of this alloy has been found to be very low (0.1) below foot and reached 0.2 at $500^{\circ}C$. During the deformation above 300'c in compression, strain softening has been observed. The diagram of extrusion pressure vs. ram-speed has been constructed, providing the extrusion condition of Al-25Si-X alloys.

The relationship between plastic deformation and crystal grain change in warm forging processes of SM10C carbon steel is studied. If the carbon steel is deformed at warm forging temperature(about recrystallization range), material properties are changed due to microstructural chanre of the crystal grain and cementite of the internal part. Some experimental values are investigated in terms of the elliptic degree of cementite, the grain size of cementite and ferrite grain size. When plastic deformation proceeds, the elliptic degree of cementite becomes larger and the grain size of cementite particle becomes small. In addition, the size of ferrite grain becomes fines by recrystallization. The elliptic degree of cementite has a considerable effect on formability. The distribution of effective strain in the forging was calculated by the rigid visco-plastic FEM analysis. The effective strain distribution obtained from the FEM simulation is compared with the experimental result, At the level of effective strain 0.3, dynamic recovery and dynamic recrystallization begin and at the level of over 2.5, the organization of material has better internal structure that is suitable for the following cold forming.

An analytical method to predict the post-weld deformation at the heat-affected zone (HAZ) is presented in this paper. The method was based on the assumption that the post-weld deformation is caused by external forces resulting from the inherent strain, which is defined as the irrecoverable strain after removing structural restraints and loadings. In general, the equivalent loading method can be used to analyze distortions in welding areas because it is efficient and effective. However, if additional loads are applied after welding, it is difficult to determine the final strain on a welded structure. To determine the final strain of a welded structure at the HAZ more accurately, we developed a modified equivalent loading method based on the inherent strain that incorporated hardening effects. The proposed method was applied to calculate the residual stress at the HAZ. Experiments were also conducted on welded plates to evaluate the validity of the proposed method.
