  • As a part of the survey on the chemical compositions of Korean Sweet potatoes, the changes of chemical compositions of Suwon No. 118 and Suwon No. 147, which are representative varieties of sweet potatoes in Korea, were studied during storage. The result of the study showed the followings. 1. The moisture content of the both varieties were fairy uniform with higher value of Suwon No. 147 than another. 2. The starch content and crude starch yield in the stored root tuber were shown to be considerable uniform except decrease at the earlier part of storage and in January. 3. Reducing sugar content of them showed increase at earlier part, then almost uniform except gradual decrease in later part of the storage. 4. The content of total soluble sugar were gradually increased at the earlier part, then became almost uniform at the later part of the storage. 5. The sucrose content showed gradual increase except at the earlier part of the storage in which both varieties showed different feature in decrease of the content. 6. The content of crude protein and soluble protein were almost uniform throughout the storage.

  • This invited paper introduces results on Web science and technology obtained during work with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. In the first part, we discuss algorithms for exploring the deep Web, which refers to the collection of Web pages that cannot be reached by conventional Web crawlers. In the second part, we discuss sorting algorithms on the MapReduce system, which has become a dominant paradigm for massive parallel computing.

  • SFLASH, one of the asymmetric signature schemes in NESSIE project, was suggested and accepted in the fat phase. In the latest, results about attacking the affine parts of SFLASH was published. In this paper, we have that an attacker knowing one linear part and two affine parts can easily forge signatures for arbitrary messages without information of the other linear part and the secret suing. It follows that the security of SFLASH depends only on the linear par, which is used in the last step when a signature is being generated. Also, we show that an attacker can obtain partial information of the linear part by the forging method using hem public key and secret elements and we discuss the length of secret key.

  • For miniaturization of electronic parts and higher productivity, part arrangement job of PCB(printed Circuit Board) has been replaced with complete automated facilities, and contribution which is concerned about this will be expanded continuously. Such part arrangement job of PCB could have lots of influences to entire productivity In this paper, effective grouping method of parts is suggested for the effective insertion path job of PCB concerning the constraints to the size of parts.

  • This paper deals with the asymptotic analysis of Mohr-Coulomb and Drucker-Prager soft thin layers bonded with elastic solids. In the first part, a mathematical analysis shows how to obtain an interface law that replaces mechanically and geometrically the thin layer. This law is strongly non-linear and couples microscopic and macroscopic scales. In the second part of the paper, the microscopic terms are quantified numerically, and it is shown that they can be neglected.

  • We propose a detecting method for a car accident in parking lots. The proposed method consists of 3 parts : car detection, car tracking, and accident detection. In the car detection part, we detect the car using the pixel based foreground extraction method and the motion map. From the result of the car detection, the moving car is tracked. In the accident detection part, we set the accident detecting region in front of car, and then the car accident is detected using the difference of the motion. Experimental results show that the proposed method effectively detects the car accident in the parking lots.

  • This study set out to make experimental clothes by giving variations to the connecting part of a seamless sweater, propose designs and composition approaches to improve the wearing sensation and satisfaction with appearance through wearing trials, and provide basic data that would be of practical help to follow-up study on seamless knit and the growth of seamless knit in the Korean knit industry. The connecting part is the biggest characteristic and the most important part in seamless knitwear and affect the functionality and fitness of the clothes and the appearance of the armhole. The investigator thus made five different pieces of experimental clothes according to the composition methods for connecting part and put them to the test by a group of experts for appearance assessment. The assessment results were analyzed through Analysis of variance(ANOVA), and the items with similar results were put to the Duncan test for intergroup comparison. According to the analysis results, experimental clothes C and E received the highest evaluation in almost every assessment item, whereas experimental clothes A did the lowest appearance evaluation.

  • This paper compares and evaluates the performances of the two types of mathematical programming models for solving the machine-part cell formation problem in group technology manufacturing : indirect formulation relying on surrogate measure such as similarity coefficient and direct formulation seeking to minimize the number of exceptional elements. New indirect formulation, called the generalized {{{{ { p}_{ } }}-median model. is proposed. Unlike existing {{{{ { p}_{ } }}-median formulations, proposed formulation includes the classical cell formation problem in which only one process plan exsits for each part as a special case. The proposed new formulation can also deal with the cell formation problem in which alternative process plans exist for a part. The indirect formulation is compared with a new direct formulation which needs much fewer extra variables and constraints than existing direct formulations. Some significant findings from comparative experiment are discussed.

  • Rapid Prototyping has made a drastic change in all industries which needs to reduce the time for the development of new products. Orientation and packing in rapid prototyping is considered as the most important factors to maximize the utilization of space in the build chamber and reduce build time. However, the decision of these parameter is mainly dependant on the operators's experience. This paper presents the methodology to find the optimal build layout considering an orientation and packing of multiple parts in SLS processing. Each part is represented as a voxel structure to deal with the inefficiency in a bounding box approach. Test results show that the adapted BL algorithm with a genetic algorithm(GA) can be applicable to a real industry.
