  • Parking guidance and information systems have been introduced to response the inefficient and inconvenience use of parking facilities. While advanced countries have reached effective use of parking guidance information system, the Republic of Korea has yet suffered from the lack of full use of advanced technologies. This study proposes an algorithm designed for a systems utilizing the USN technologies. A field test was performed. The test results showed that information from the proposed system is much reliable when compared to the one from the existing.

  • This paper introduces the parking guide service developed to address the inconvenience of parking in areas where demand for parking spaces is high, such as busy streets and tourist attractions. Due to difficulties in measuring and developing the actual parking lot while driving the car, we created a temporary parking lot and created Arduino RC Car to replace the actual car. Video processing based on Open CV allows users to identify the entire parking lot, parking space, and completed parking space, and track moving cars, and this information has been developed to enable users to see through the application. The application allows the user to book the desired parking space and introduce a way-finding algorithm to guide them through the optimal path to the selected parking compartment.

  • This paper presents the prototype for parking assistant system of multi-camera viewing. Proposed system provides the driver with three direction of the scenes surrounding vehicle. Depending on the handle rotation, the proposed system displays views from multiple wide-angle CCD cameras on the laptop screen to reduce blind spots, support smooth parallel or garage parking, and support comfortable and safe driving. The performance of roposed system is validated by vehicle experiments.

  • 오늘날 자동차 이용자가 점점 증가하고 있다. 이로 인해 주차 공간이 부족해져 많은 불편을 초래한다. 따라서 본 연구는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 주차 예약 시스템을 구현하였다. 본 시스템은 Spring Framework 기반의 주차 예약 시스템으로 예약과 취소를 자유롭게 이용할 수 있다. 또한 주차 예약 시스템의 이용 후기, 꼭 알아야 하는 공지사항 등 게시판을 활용하여 더욱 자유롭게 이용할 수 있다.

  • Recently, the performance and function of electrical and electronic system in automotive vehicles is developing at a rapid rate with the advancement of IT technologies. Combined together with micro-controller and sensor technologies, the Vehicle Smart System (VSS) being developed to improve driver's convenience and comfort has been employed to a variety of applications. In addition to the convenience system, the Auto-parking Assistance System (AAS) that is now attracting a new attention has been already applied to some vehicles, but it is currently limited to luxury car models only. In this paper, we present a fuzzy controller that enables autonomous parking assistance without the AAS. The controller can perform the assistance with information provided from moving status, current position and steering angle as one is able to park a car based on his/her experience and knowledge for driving and parking. We have evaluated its performance of the proposed controller by simulation and tested the excellence of the controller by building a model vehicle embedded with the micro-controllers.

Developments of Parking Control System Using Color Information and Fuzzy C-menas Algorithm (컬러 정보와 퍼지 C-means 알고리즘을 이용한 주차관리시스템 개발)

  • In this paper, we proposes the car plate recognition and describe the parking control system using the proposed car plate recognition algorithm. The car plate recognition system using color information and fuzzy c-means algorithm consists of the extraction part of a car plate from a car image and the recognition part of characters in the extracted car plate. This paper eliminates green noise from car image using the mode smoothing and extract plate region using green and white information of RGB color. The codes of extracted plate region is extracted by histogram based approach method and is recognized by fuzzy c-means algorithm. For experimental, we tested 80 car images. We shows that the proposed extraction method is better than that from the color information of RGB and HSI, respectively. So, we can know that the proposed car plate recognition method using fuzzy c-means algorithm was very efficient. We develop the parking control system using the proposed car plate recognition method, which showed performance improvement by the experimental results.

A Study on Improvement of Parking Guidance System to Low-Power Operation for Green Building

  • The parking guidance system can increase driver's convenience with detailed parking information service, but it continuously consumes electrical energy with large amount of sensors, displays and control modules. With the increase of the demand for green and sustainable building design, it becomes a meaningful issue for parking guidance system to reduce operating power. This paper presents the preliminary design and estimated results of a parking guidance system which is optimized to reduce the power consumption mainly on detectors and displays. The system design is based on commercial wireless parking detectors, wireless-loop-detector and earth-magnetic-detector. We have performed system architecture design, communication network design, parking information service scenario planning, battery life regulation and at last operating power estimation. With the 7 years of battery replace cycle, the estimated result for power consumption of designed system was 0.33W/slot, which is 13% of the traditional system's estimation result. The estimated annual maintain cost was similar to the traditional ultrasonic sensor based system's. The low power operable designed system can be expected to reduce CO2 emission.

  • IoT (Internet of Things) technologies have largely contributed to our smart living environment. The smart parking system is one of the prominent services that IoT supports. To identify the parked vehicles, the previous parking system use special identifying devices, the RFID tags carried by the users, and the high quality camera to recognize the vehicle license numbers. However, the previous methods cause cost inefficiency and unfriendly usages. To address these problems, we propose a smart parking system based on ultrasonic sensors and Bluetooth communication. The proposed system decides the available slots by using the sensor motes located in the parking spaces. Also it recognizes the location of the parked vehicle using Bluetooth RSSI between a Smartphone and the sensor motes. In addition, based on these converging technologies, it can support the parked routes of vehicles for users. To evaluate the implemented smart parking system, we applied the RSSI transform equations and the recognition rate for parked vehicles. As a result, the accurate rate of transformed distances could be measured.

  • According to the rapid progress of the altitude information society and various sensor technologies, The role of information and communication systems became important during social activities. In this paper, It is measured access and availability alongside parking and availability using an ultrasonic sensor and a pressure sensor. And the measuring data is sent to the controller by using the PLC (Power Line Communication). And it is implementing the parking management system made secure by controlling the LED and LCD with the received data.
