The antibody titers against Coxiella burnetii (Q fever) among cattle raised in Gwangju area were analyzed from February to October in 2015. The prevalence of antibodies in collected bulk-tank milk from 7 dairy cattle farms was 57.1% and the seroprevalence of 210 dairy cows randomly selected from those farms was 7.1%. By age, the seroprevalence was 3.3% in less than 4 years of age, 9.0% between 4 and 7 years of age, and 28.6% in more than 8 years of age. On the other hand, the seroprevalence of the Hanwoo cattle was 0.4%. The result suggested that the antibodies against Coxiella burnetii increase as the age of the dairy cows increases and therefore, it is necessary to keep monitoring the prevalence of Q fever in Gwangju area.

We have analyzed the external morphology and the environment of the foraging site of Vespertilio sinensis. The external morphology was analyzed by twelve parameters and the environment characteristics of the foraging site was analyzed using GIS 10.1 program. The wing membrane was inserted into the ankle of the hind foot and the wing ratio was 1.42, the middle type between broad-short wing type and long-narrow wing type. The fur color was blackish brown but the guard hair color was whitish. The shape of the ear was a rounded triangle and tragus was a fan shape. This study showed that V. sinensis preferred the deciduous forest of the upper forest zone, where human interference was less. We believed that abundance of insects, depending on water system, was closely related to the use of the foraging site. This result showed that the environment characteristics was very similar to the nature preservation zone including Baekyang valley and Keumsun valley in Naejangsan National Park.

산림 휴양의 빈도와 경력 등 과거의 경험과 관련된 이용객의 특성은 전문성에 있어서 중요한 인자로 여겨져 왔다. 전문화란 기본적인 행동에서부터 특수한 행동에 이르는 연속성을 말하며 과거의 연구들은 이용객의 전문화 수준에 따라 그들이 가진 동기, 심리태도, 휴양 만족 수준, 그리고 환경과 관리 선호도에 있어서 차이가 있음을 보여주었다. 본 연구는 전문화 요소인 과거의 경험이 월악산 이용객의 환경에 대한 심리태도와 공원 관리에 대하여 어떻게 인식하고 있는지를 조사하였다. 320명의 이용객을 상대로 1993년 여름 설문조사를 통하여 자료가 수집되었다. 전문화를 규정하는 변수는 (1)과거 산림 휴양 경력, (2)연간 평균 산림 휴양 빈도, (3)연간 산림내에서 지낸 일수, 그리고 (4)월악산 방문 횟수가 선택되었고 이중 과거의 경력이 이용객의 환경에 대한 심리태도 수준과 가장 밀접한 연관이 있었다. 즉, 경력이 많은 휴양객은 자연상태의 환경을 선호하고 경력이 적은 휴양객은 사회적 친화가 이루어지는 장소나 개발 지역을 선호하였다. 대부분의 응답자는 선정된 공원관리 속성에 대하여 매우 중요하다고 평가한 반면 이들 속성의 실제 수행평가에 있어서는 매우 낮은 점수를 주었다.

In this study, a numerical model developed for sunshine duration based on GIS data was used. This model considers blocking caused by topography and buildings and it is properly applicable to evaluation of sunshine duration environment in urban areas. The model reasonably well predicted the solar altitude and azimuth angels, compared to those provided by Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI). The developed model was applied to evaluation of sunshine duration environment around the Seonleung Park located near a building-congested area in Seoul. The model well reproduced shadow caused by buildings and/or topography in the numerical domain at 09:00 on August 1, 2015. In addition, the model was applied to finding a suitable measurement sites for pyrheliometer around the Seonleung Park. The model was also usefully applied to finding a suitable site for pyrheliometer in an urban area.

An eight years old female barbary sheep (Ammotragus lervia), which bred at the Gwangju Uchi Park Zoo had shown anorexia, depression, respiratory problem for several weeks after parturition. In necropsy, extensive necrotizing pneumonia was found with severe immunocytes infiltration in the alveolar spaces and bronchioles. Pulmonary pleura were thickened with fibrin and inflammatory cells. Bacteria were isolated from lung and identified as Streptococcus equi subsp. zooepidemicus (SEZ) by biochemical tests and PCR on sodA and gusA genes, though seel gene was not detected. Isolation of zoonotic SEZ in public place such as a zoo should be emphasized for the public health mangagement.
