Comparison Architecture for Large Number of Genomic Sequences

  • Generally, a suffix tree is an efficient data structure since it reveals the detailed internal structures of given sequences within linear time. However, it is difficult to implement a suffix tree for a large number of sequences because of memory size constraints. Therefore, in order to compare multi-mega base genomic sequence sets using suffix trees, there is a need to re-construct the suffix tree algorithms. We introduce a new method for constructing a suffix tree on secondary storage of a large number of sequences. Our algorithm divides three files, in a designated sequence, into parts, storing references to the locations of edges in hash tables. To execute experiments, we used 1,300,000 sequences around 300Mbyte in EST to generate a suffix tree on disk.

  • The intervertebral disc in the anterior portion of the function unit gives the spine its flexibility. The disc is attached closely to the vertebral endplates. Between these endplates and the annulus fibrosus, the nucleus pulposus of the lumbar disc is enclosed in a circle of unyielding tissues. Compressive pressure placed on the disc is dissipated circumferentially in a passive manner In response to the greater axial forced exerted on the lumbar spine in comparison to the cervical and thoracic spines, the nucleus pulposus has its greatest surface area in the lumbar spine. The intervertebral disc is not only structure that helps diss pate stresses placed on the spine. With flexion, extension, rotation, or shear stress, the load distribution on the function unit is shared by the intervertebral disc, anterior and posterior longitudinal ligaments, the facet joints and capsules, and other ligamentous structures like the ligamentum flavum, interspinous and supraspinous ligaments, which attach to the posterior elements of the functional unit.

  • In order to design a micro-thruster which controls the altitude of a space vehicle for a very long lifetime, the flow field should be analyzed considering the nozzle geometry and the difference between stagnation and environmental pressures and so on. This paper describes the axisymmetric non-reacted computational results which were carried out to understand the basic flow phenomena according to the high nozzle pressure ratio. The area ratio is about 56 and the diameter of a nozzle exit is about 0.46 inch. The Mach cell and waves are predicted well.

  • This paper proposes a small VCM (Voice coil motor) type actuator using curved suspensions for auto-focusing and zoom motions for mobile information devices. 1'he proposed focusing actuator adopts a nontraditional type of suspension using curved beams in order to extend output displacement within small height restriction. The curved beam is similar to the leaf spring type which is usually used in optical disk drives. In addition, three different materials are considered for the curved suspension model, and Aluminum shows the best dynamic characteristics. The proposed zoom actuator does not use a suspension supporting bobbin but a moving rail and a sloper mechanism by generating rotational force at lens holder. The sensitivity of design parameters on output performance is studied using ANSYS (3D FEM tool). Experiments using a prototype of the proposed actuator model verified the analytical prediction and performance.

  • Tilting train improves a traveling velocity through giving a tilt the car-body without ride comfort deterioration In curve. Dynamic behavior in deceleration will show quite another feature in constant velocity, In this study, we see through the dynamic behavior due to a variation of braking force in Korean Tilting Train. Hence we compose of 3D dynamic model, as well as we check upon the property in service braking condition and unique braking condition with a fault system. This study has the meaning with reference data of developing Korean Tilting Train test traveling.

  • This paper presents active control of aperture type near-field storage head. In order to achieve fast and accurate control, dual servo control algorithm is applied. Based on the big difference in time constant, we seperate two actuator and control independently. With the combination of fine and coarse actuator, gap is controlled within 100nm until the disk rotates upto 10 rpm speed. From the experimental results, the feasibility and performance of active gap control is proved.

  • The purpose of this study was to propose a new dental color system through color evaluation of generally used dental composite and porcelain. In this study, Vita Omega 900 dental porcelain and 10 kinds of composite resins were used. A disk specimens(15mm diameter, 4mm thickness) of each material/shade combination were made. Resin compasite was condensed into Teflon mold and pressed between glass plates to flatten the surface. Pressed compasite was polymerized using an Optilux 501(Demetron, USA) for 200 seconds of each side.(중략)

  • 소셜 네트워크 서비스(SNS)로 인해 스트리밍 환경에서 발생되는 데이터들이 급격하게 증가하고 있다. 이러한 많은 데이터 사이에서 특정 키워드를 담고 있는 문서를 찾고자 한다. 문서를 찾는 대표적인 색인인 역색인을 사용한다. 그러나 데이터가 증가하게 되면 데이터를 참조하는 색인의 크기 또한 증가한다. 결국 데이터뿐만 아니라 색인 또한 디스크에 저장되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 역색인을 지수적으로 증가시키면서 관리하는 방법을 다룬다. 새로운 문서는 가장 작은 역색인에 저장이 되고, 후에 더 큰 역색인으로 옮겨지게 된다. 매번 전체 역색인을 읽지 않고 작은 역색인을 갱신함으로서 갱신부하를 줄이게 된다.

  • The electrochemical oxidation of ascorbic acid(AA), serotonin(StT) and epinephrine(EP) have been performed ae poly N,N-dimethylanliline(PDMA) film coated diamond electrode. This cationic polymer film is electrochemically deposited on boron-doped diamond electrode surface. Unlike the bard electrode, the polyaer film-coated diamond electrode can well separate the oxidation potential of AA by 330mV. Thus this electrode can be successfully used for the simultaneoud detection of both species. Increases in the concentration of AA donot affect the reponse of EP and ST.

  • Unipoled piezoelectric transformers were designed with different input and output area ratios. The voltage step-up ratio increased proportionally with increasing the input area. The piezoelectric transformers operated in each transformer's resonance vibration mode. In this paper, ANSYS(FEM program) was used for analysing piezoelectric transformers. We compared with analysis and experimental results. The voltage step-up ratio showed maximum value in output area of small size. Output characteristics of piezoelectric transformers with various size were simulated. The result of analysis showed $2\sim7$ times higher voltage step-up ratio than a experiment result.
