  • This study focuses on the mediated effect of value of children with a purpose of examining the influence of maternal family-of-origin. A group of 247 mothers having young children in the age of 3 to 5 years participated in a survey which is consisted of the scale of family-of-origin experiences, parenting attitude and value of children. The study results show four aspects: First, family-of-origin experiences have positive effect on value of children. Second, maternal value of children also appears to be positive on parenting attitude. Third, family-of-origin experiences have positive effect on parenting attitude. Lastly, value of children shows mediated effect between family-of-origin experience and parenting attitude. In other words, having high level of positive awareness in family-of-origin experiences brings positive value of children, and the value of children brings positive effect on parenting attitude. Therefore, multilateral measures and methodical supports are needed to develop positive value of children, and consideration on father is required as a joint partner of rearing children.

  • This purpose of this study was to examine the effects of maternal attitude toward parenting and children's basic living habit on children's social maturity. Subjects were 252 mothers of 5-6 year-old children in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. The data obtained were analyzed by Cronbach's alpha, Pearson's correlation, t-test, and multiple regression. The major result of this study was that exercise and conversation ability of children had close relationships with several elements: birth order of children, educational background of mother, and affectionate and autonomous child-rearing attitude. Especially, mother's educational level and mother's warmth and self-regulatory child-rearing attitude were the most strongly related variables for children's social maturity.

  • Objective: This study examined the main effects and interaction effect of parenting attitudes and conversation hours between parent and child, by focusing on parental influence among factors impacting children's happiness. Methods: This study used the data from 2,578 fourth grade elementary school students from the first waves of the Korean Child Youth Panel Study(KCYPS) 2018. The data were analyzed using correlation analysis and stepwise regression analysis. Results: First, there was a significant corelation between children's happiness and socio-economic variables such as parental education level, family's income, and family type. Second, it was found that the main effect of all sub-factors of parenting attitude and conversation hours between parent and child on children's happiness was statistically significant. Third, only the interaction effect between structural parenting attitude and parent-child conversation hours was statistically significant. That is, children who had more conversations with parents with structural parenting attitudes providing guidelines ware reported to be particularly happy. Conclusion/Implications: This study is meaningful in examining overall quantitative and qualitative effects of the relationship between parent and child to understand parental factors impacting children's happiness.

Methods: The study was conducted on 259 children aged 4 to 5 and their mothers. The collected data were used to conduct Pearson correlation coefficient, Three-step mediated regression analysis, and the Sobel test using the SPSS 20.0 program. Results: First, children's institutional adaptability had a significant negative correlation only with 'mother's hostility'. Children's humanity had a significant positive correlation with their institutional adaptability. Second, mothers' hostile attitude had a direct or indirect impact on children's institutional adaptability. Conclusion/Implications: The results above suggest that children's good humanity and parents' friendly attitude are important in children's institutional adaptability.

  • This study aims to examine the mutual influences of negative parenting attitudes, self-esteem, and life satisfaction perceived by adolescent children through longitudinal perspective. Data from the first to third years of the panel of the first year middle school students were used among the 2018 data of the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS) of the Korea Youth Policy Institute. The longitudinal correlation was analyzed by applying the autoregressive cross-lagged model which can determine the direction of longitudinal causality between variables. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the negative parenting attitudes, self-esteem, and life satisfaction perceived by adolescents had a positive effect on the negative parenting attitude perception, self-esteem, and life satisfaction at later times, respectively. In addition, the higher the negative parenting attitude at the previous point was, the lower the self-esteem or life satisfaction afterward. The higher the life satisfaction, the lower the negative parenting attitude of the parents, and the higher the self-esteem. Recognition of negative parenting attitudes of parents lowered the self-esteem of adolescents, whereas the cross-delay coefficient from self-esteem to negative parenting attitude perception was not significant. Through these results, the longitudinal relationship between negative parenting attitude perception of adolescence, self-esteem, and life satisfaction was confirmed and efforts to form positive self-esteem and improve life satisfaction were discussed.

  • This study examines the structural relationship between parents' positive parenting attitudes, negative parenting attitudes, emotional problems, and academic helplessness. To this end, the data of 2,590 first-year middle school students in the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey 2018 were used to understand the structural relationship between variables. For this study, the correlation between variables was examined with SPSS 21.0, and the structural relationship between variables was identified with AMOS 21.0. The research results are as follows. First, it was found that the positive parenting attitude and negative parenting attitude of parents had a significant effect on academic helplessness. Second, parents' positive and negative parenting attitudes had a significant effect on emotional problems. Third, emotional problems had a significant positive effect on academic ability. Fourth, emotional problems were partially mediated between parents' positive parenting attitudes, negative parenting attitudes, and academic helplessness. In other words, the emotions of adolescents affected by their parents' parenting attitudes affect their learning. Through this study, it is meaningful to confirm that emotional problems can be treated as factors that influence studies, not simply limited to factors influenced by other factors.

The subjects of the study were 195 nursing students located in G city, data were collected from April to October 2019. The data analysis used the SPSS 24.0 program and descriptive statistics, correlation, and multiple regression analysis were conducted. As a result of the study, the father's parenting attitude was 41.84±7.55 points, the mother's parenting attitude was 42.97±8.74 points, grit was 103.43±12.74 points, and career decision-making self-efficacy was 76.99±10 points. However, There was a significant positive correlation with grit(r=.584, p<001). The major factors that affect the career decision-making self-efficacy were grit(β=.553, p<.001), and It's explanatory power was 35.2%. Therefore, in order to improve the career decision-making self-efficacy of nursing students, guidance and education using a strategy to increase grit is necessary.
