Surface friction welding (SFW) is a newly developed technology fur joining thin metal sheets, which utilizes friction between tool and weldment. In the present study, the 5052 and 1050 Al sheets were locally surface-modified using SFW technology. Formability of the locally surface-modified sheets was superior to that of the parent material. Yield or tensile strengths of the locally surface-modified specimens were lower then those of the parent material, but elongations of the locally surface-modified specimens were higher then that of the parent material.
Different microstructures in the weld zone of a metal structure such as a fusion zone or heat affected zone are formed as compared to the parent material. Thus, the mechanical properties in the weld zone are different from those in the parent material. As the basic data for reliably understanding the structural characteristics of a welded PCHE specimen to be made of Alloy 617, the mechanical properties in the weld zone and parent material for a Alloy 617 plate are measured using an instrumented indentation technique in this study.

Purpose: This study was to observe surface property and bonding strength according to composition of Ni-Cr alloy for porcelain fused to metal crown. The two kinds of Ni-Cr alloy with different composition ratio of parent metal were observed general properties and chemical properties of each alloy surface and measured the shear bonding strength between ceramic and each alloys. The aim of study was to suggest the material for design of parent metal's composition ratio to development of alloy for porcelain fused to metal crown. Methods: The two kinds of alloy as test specimen was Ni(71wt.%)-Cr(12wt.%) and Ni(63wt.%)-Cr(23wt.%) alloy. The oxide on surface was observed by SEM and EDX. And the shear test was performed by MTS. Results: The surface property and oxide characteristic analysis of oxide layer, weight percentage of Element O within $Ni_{71}Cr_{12}$ alloy measured 12.74wt.%, but $Ni_{63}Cr_{23}$ alloy was measured 15.91wt.%. And the maximum shear bonding strength was measured 106.14MPa between $Ni_{71}Cr_{12}$ alloy and vintage halo (VV group). Conclusion: The surface property and oxide characteristic of $Ni_{71}Cr_{12}$ alloy was similar to $Ni_{63}Cr_{23}$ alloy. And VV group has the strongest shear bonding strength.

The progress in the field of electronic materials has been especially significant for applications involving a range of electrical properties. Its importance is increasing with the increasing demand for integrated circuits. The sol-gel technique has been used for many years, and the metal alkoxides have featured prominently as source materials. The method consist of making a homogeneous solution of the component metal alkoxides in a suitable solvent, usually the parent alcohol; and then causing the hydrolysis under controlled conditions to produce a gel containing the hydrated metal oxide. The gel is then dried, and fired to produce a ceramic or glassy material at a temperature much lower than that required by the conventional melting process. This project consists of important theoretical considerations, processing techniques and applications related to electrophoresis derived thin films. In the electrophoretic process a metal alkoxide solution is gelled through hydrolysis-polymerization and converted the gel thin layer to an oxide by heating at relatively low temperatures.
This research investigates microstructures and fatigue properties of the weldments of 6005A aluminum alloy developed for railroad vehicles. The samples were extruded into a truss structure and welded together using the gas metal arc welding process. The extruded sample showed a wide variation in grain size, possibly due to the frictional heating as well as the inghomogeneous metal flow in the extrusion die. The mechanical properties of the samples were affected by the mirocstructures. The fatigue strength of the welded structure was found to decrease significantly from that of the base metal. It was found that the fatigue characteristics of the welded structure were determined by the microstructure of the parent metal as well as weld defects such as porosities and the liquation cracks.
The object of this paper is to evaluate SCC(stress corrosion cracking) susceptibility for parent metal and bond line region of weld joints which have the various weld heat input condtions in TMCP(thermo-mechanical control process) steel by SP-SSRT(small punch-slow strain rate test) method. And the SCC test results of TMCP steel are compared with those of the conventional HT50 steel which has te almost same tensile strength level like TMCP steel. The loading rate used was $3\times10^{-4}$mm/min and the corrosive environment was synthetic sea water. According to the test results, in the case of parent metal, TMCP steel showed higher SCC susceptibility than HT50 steel because of the high plastic strain level of ferrite microstructure obtained by accelerated cooling. And in the case of bond line, the both TMCP steel and HT50 steel showed low load-displacement behaviors and higher SCC susceptibility above 0.6. These results may be caused by theembrittled martensite structure on HT50 steel and by the coarsened grain and the proeutectoid ferrite structure obtained by the impart of accelerated cooling effect on TMCP steel.

In this study. investigated the effect of shot peening on the corrosion of SAE 5155 steel immersed in $3.5\%$ NaCl solution and corrosion characteristics by the heat treatment during shot peening process. The immersion test was Performed on the four kinds of specimens. Corrosion Potential, polarization curve, residual stress etc. were investigated from experimental results. From these test results, the effect of shot peening on the corrosion was evaluated The important results of the experimental study on the effects of shot peened SAE 5155 on the corrosion are as follows; Shot peened specimens show the low of corrosion current as compared with un peened specimens. In the case of corrosion potential, shot Peened specimen shows more negative Potential as compared with that of parent metal Surface of specimen, which is treated with shot peening Process. is Placed as more activated state against inner parent metal. Corrosion rate is shown that shot Peened specimens have less corrode than un peened specimens. But non heat treated shot peened specimens show the biggest weight loss owing to variable compressive residual stress layer by shot ball.

The essential tasks to operate the welding robot are the acquisition of the position and/or shape of the parent metal. For the seam tracking or the robot automation, many kinds of contact and non-contact sensors are used. Recently, the vision sensor is most popular. In this paper, the development of the system which measures the profile of the welding part is described. The total system will be assembled into a compact module which can be attached to the head of welding robot system. This system uses the line-type structured laser diode and the vision sensor It implemented Direct Linear Transformation (DLT) for the camera calibration as well as radial distortion correction. The three dimensional shape of the parent metal is obtained after simple linear transformation and therefore, the system operates in real time. Some experiments are carried out to evaluate the performance of the developed system.
To investigate the properties of diffusion bonding of 7050 Al alloy, the diffusion bonding joints have been produced in self-made diffusion bonding hot-press which admits a defined application of the bonding pressure during the heating phase and also rapid cooling after the bonding process with various bonding condition. The strength of the bond increases with increasing the bonding time and temperature. Shear test at toom temperature showed that high strength up to 70% that of parent metal (320 MPa), 220 MPa for the specimen bonded 14 hr at $560^{\circ}C$, with 3 MPa. In this case, however, there is large deformation more than 20% reduction in thickness. The results were correlated with joint characteristics found by optical microstructure and by fractography by SEM. When the strengths of the bonds are more than 50% that of parent metal, a great deal of dimples stretched along the direction of shear stress are observed over the fractured surface of the bond. On the microstructure of the bond line, initial mophology of the bond line disapeared for the grain boundary migration with increasing the bonding time.
