  • The influence of material properties and process parameters on the strain distribution of stamping parts was studied by finite element method. For the parametric study, the investigation of variation of material properties was carried out with tensile test for a dozens of different steel sheets. The friction test for each surface and lubricants conditions are also carried out because the frictional characteristic is important parameter fur sheet metal forming. The geometry of stamping parts was measured by 3D scanner to build the tool model fer the FE analysis. As a result of analysis the major process parameter fer each automotive parts was investigated.

  • In this paper a design formula has been proposed to predict the residual strength of damaged tubulars subjected to combined axial copression, hydrostatic pressure and end bending loadings. A theoretical analysis method was employed to calculate the residual strengths, in which the geometric configuration of damaged tubulars is realistically described using empirically derived equations. The predictions using this method have been compared with relevent experimental results to demonstrate their validity and accuracy. A rigorous parametric study has been conducted using the method, and then a design formula has been derived based upon the parametric study results.

  • This paper presents a damage assesment method for buried pipelines subjected to Deep Excavation-induced ground movements. Ground deformation characteristics resulting from 3D finite element analysis was represented mathematically by a hyperbolic tangential function. A parametric study was performed on excavation depth and burial position of pipeline. The result of the parametric study indicate that length of hyperbolic tangential function affects the results of damage assessment. Using numerical studies for buried pipeline response to ground movements by relative flexibility of the pipe-soil system. The result of numerical studies are presented in forms of design charts which can be readily used for various condition encountered in practices.

  • This paper deals with a parametric study on inclined elliptical dimples to enhance heat transfer in a channel. Three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Naiver-Stokes equations are solved to estimate flow and heat transfer in dimpled channel. As turbulence closure, the low-Re shear stress transport model is employed. Two non-dimensional geometric variables, dimple ellipse diameter ratio and angle of main diameter to flow direction are selected for the parametric study. The inclined elliptical dimples show higher heat-transfer performance but with higher pressure drop compared to the circular dimples. And there is an optimum inclination angle that gives the maximum heat transfer.

  • A cable-stiffened cylindrical single-layer latticed shell that is reinforced by cable-stiffened system has superior stability behaviour compared with the ordinary cylindrical latticed shell. The layouts of cable-stiffened system are flexible in this structural system, and different layouts contribute different stiffness to the structure. However, the existed few research primarily focused on the simplest type of cable layouts, in which the grids of the latticed shell are diagonally stiffened by prestressed cables in-plane. This current work examines the stability behaviour of the cable-stiffened cylindrical latticed shells with two different types of cable layouts using nonlinear finite element analysis. A parametric study on the effect of cross-sectional of the cables, pretension in cables, joint stiffness, initial imperfections, load distributions and boundary conditions is presented. The findings are useful for the reference of the designer in using this type of structural system.

  • Many researches on the parametric representation of speech ,signals using the adaptive linear prediction method have been studied for the past few years. In this paper, we used the LPC(Linear Predictive Coding)method to analyae the parameters of Korean vowels and by using those parameters we studied the affinity between every pair of Korean vowels. As a result of our study, it is found that each pair of Korean vowels that has a greater phonetic affinity also has a greater affinity of vocal tract parameters than other pairs.

  • Interaction of grounded ice ridges with underlying seabed is one of the major considerations in the design of Arctic pipeline system. Previously several ice scour models were developed by researchers to describe the ice scour-seabed interaction mechanism. In this paper, a parametric study on ice scouring mechanism is performed and the limitation of ice scour-seabed interaction models is discussed. Simple laboratory tests are carried out and then the shape pattern of deposited soil around the ice is redefined. New ice scour model assumes trapezoidal cross section based on the field observation data. Ice scour depth and soil resistance forces on seabed are calculated with varying the keel angle of a model ice ridge.

  • The Spectral Fatigue Analysis is representative fatigue life assessment method for vessels. This Analysis is performed generally for the whole vessel and many assessment sites. The spectral fatigue analysis is performed through the process of hydrodynamic response analysis, global structural analysis, local structural analysis and calculation of fatigue damage. In these processes, fatigue damage is affected by many variables. The representative variables are S-N curve data, wave scatter data, wave spectrum, bandwidth effect and etc. In this paper, the effects of these variables to the fatigue damage are analyzed through the spectral fatigue analysis for 170k LNGC.
