  • The design of an occupant protection equipment has been considered as the important process in developing a new car since the crash performance plays an important role on the market. The cost is increased when an unexpected real test is carried out in the proto-design stage. Thus, the exact prediction of a crash performance can reduce the number of full-car test. In this research, the robust design of an airbag system considering the frontal crash is suggested to predict the more reliable responses. On the contrary, most existing researches do not consider the uncertainties. The uncertainties treated in this research are the tolerances of the vent hole, the time to fire and the length of a strap in airbag and the tolerance of the load limiter load in seat belt. The Taguchi method is utilized to determine the robust optimum of each parameter

  • In this paper, we propose a new sliding surface design method for a class of uncertain systems with mismatched unstructured uncertainties. The uncertain system under consideration may have mismatched parameter uncertainties in the state matrix as well as in the input matrix. In terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), we give a sufficient condition for the existence of linear sliding surfaces guaranteeing the asymptotic stability of the sliding mode dynamics. And, we give an LMI parameterization of such linear sliding surfaces together with switched feedback control laws. Our LMI condition can be less conservative than the existing conditions and our result supplement the existing results. Finally, we give a numerical example showing that our method can be better than the previous results.

  • A proposed fuzzy-sliding mode controller in this paper shows that it can reduce amount of chattering inherent to sliding mode control and it is robust against parameter uncertainties. Sliding mode control is one of the control method for nonlinear systems. It can provide good transient performance and system robustness for nonlinear system. But chattering is a serious problem of the sliding mode control. The chattering is caused by steady/state error or uncertainties of the system. There are three kinds of method that can remove chattering. First, steady-state error can be removed by adding PI controller to the system. Second, putting dead-zone in sliding surface can be insensitive uncertainties ...

  • In this paper we present a variable structure systeme-model following adaptive control (VSS-MFAC) method for an uncertain turbo-generator system which is apt to suffer from the unmodeled parameter uncertainties and the external disturbances. The simulation results for the power system stabilizer(PSS) exhibit robust adaptive model-following properties well in the PSS designed by the proposed VSS-MFAC methodology when a step change in the mechanical torque and a parameter variation is applied.

  • An estimation scheme is used for solving two practical problems of the single current sensor technique. To improve the effect of parameter uncertainties the method that identifies motor parameters for AC motor drive systems using the single current sensor technique is presented. And the parameter identification error and its cause atre examined. It gives good performances for identify in parameters and reconstructing phase currents.

  • This paper presents a robust adaptive control scheme based on the Lyapunov design for robot manipulators subjected to inertial parameter uncertainties and bounded torque disturbances. The scheme is a modified version of the adaptive computed torque method which adopts a dead zone into the adaptation mechanism so as to avoid parameter drifts by disturbances. It is shown via stability analysis and computer simulations that all the signals in the overall adaptive system are bounded and tracking errors lie within a prespecified bound.

  • In this paper, a new nonlinear feedback linearization control scheme for induction motors is developed. The control scheme employs a fuzzy nonlinear identification scheme based on fuzzy basis function expansion to adoptively compensate the parameter variations, i.e. rotor resistance, mutual and self inductance etc. An important feature of the proposed control scheme is to incorporate the sliding mode controller into the scheme to speed up convergence rate. Simulation tests show the robust behavior of the proposed controller in the presence of the parameter uncertainties of the machine.

  • An adaptive control scheme has been recognized as an effective approach for a robot manipulator to track a desired trajectory in spite of the presence of nonlinearties and parameter uncertainties in robot dynamic models. In this paper, an adaptive control scheme for a robot manipulator is proposed to design the self-tuning controller which combines the pole placement with the extended linearized perturbation model. And this control scheme has two components: a feadforward control and a feedback compensation control. Based on this, the controller is demonstrated by the simulation about position control of a three-link manipulator with payload and parameter uncertainty.

  • In this paper, we consider the guaranteed cost filtering design method for time-varying delay system with parameter uncertainties by LMI(Linear Matrix Inequality) approach. The objective is to design a stable guaranteed cost filter which minimizes the guaranteed cost fo the closed loop systems in filtering error dynamics. The sufficient conditions for the existence of filter, the guaranteed cost filter design method, and th guaranteed cost upper bound are proposed by LMI technique in terms of all finding variables. Finally, we give an example to check the validity of the proposed method.
